SUPER McFUN-SAUCE with a ginormous serving of useful = @handanalystpro aka Peggie Arvidson, The Pragmatic Palmist's Beginner's Palmistry monthly series of lectures! Here's my #doodle from today's lecture. I looooove hearing how different hand analysts teach / share / read because while we all draw from the same database of information, we express differently. Peggie has a delightful down-to-earth groundednesd in her approach, exemplifying #practicalwoowoo :) Thanks so much dear Left me! #handreading #handanalysis #modernpalmistry #palmistry #hands
#MorningDoodle ❤ The essence of this is the feeling of YES. Deciding, committing, choosing. Becoming responsive and directing your life, creating it. Don't just let life happen and unfold while you feel disconnected from it, like you are watching some one else's meh movie. Time is too short and there is too much fun to be had! :)
The next free webinar for #caregivers of #frail #elders happens in 2 weeks! Thursday, December 17 @ 3pm PST. Behind the scenes: #selfcare is a divine responsibility - A @daniellelaporte #truthbomb mantra I am living by. Self-care by being thoughtful about how I want to prioritize my time has been a next-level challenge for me. At my best, here's me listing my ginormous list of aspirations and focussing on accomplishing 3 littles, day by day, relentlessly. Sprinkled with stickers and illustrated with coloured pens because that makes it fun. My messy life binder is awesome. Now that I have some idea of what works, I can't wait go condense into just one book for 2016 ... Mostly so I can make space for more drawing. More creating and challenging my self to keep telling the truth and expressing as I nerd-learn + test by fire entrepreneurial skills. #desiremap agenda, I am ready for you! Other planners / agenda - have you any wisdom to share on what works / doesn't for you?
Good #morningdoodle! I heard this shining quote while I was listening to @AllisonCarmen's interview on the @unmistakablecreative podcast about The Gift of Maybe. Look for her book of the same name, I can't wait to read it! The podcast itself is brilliant and called "Finding Hope + Possibility in Uncertain Times." For me this quote is about allowing a loving pause of acceptance (and maybe even thanks!) in the dynamic forces of my internal world. I am an ambitious doer. Sometimes this can mean I am my own worst enemy by when I focus on all the things I am NOT doing rather than what I am. So here's a moment to pause + breathe. #Maybe where I am at with everything is just lovely + awesome as it is. This is a very lovely way open up my Friday. Thank you for this Maybe :) #doodlesofinstagram #doodle #handlettering #inspiration #perfectlyimperfect #entrepreneurship #entrepreneur #awareness #gratitude
Every so often a song catches me that totally fills me up. I discovered one this week by @JohnMayer called "The Heart of Life" which has been quietly humming in me since I bumped into it. Here it is in #doodle form + here is a lovely excerpt of my favourite lyrics - "Pain throws your #heart to the ground Love turns the whole thing around No it won't all go the way it should But I know the heart of life is good Pain throws your heart to the ground #Love turns the whole thing around Fear is a friend who's misunderstood But I know the heart of life is good."

2016 is the first year that I am planning in advance. Equal parts desire (feelings / soul) with ambition (get 'er done / goals). This is cool growth for me!!! What is probably no-duh wisdom for others feels like an organic natural evolution for me: prioritize, plan, execute! Yes, in moderate detail in my agenda! Time budgeting! Prescriptive how-to's don't tend to work fit me, I need to figure it out myself you make it sincere. I am sketching in time for juicy-real-life creativity. While adventures in hustling are rad I need some time for the creation of a wedding I never imagined possible. With liberal amounts of creating masks and times for favourite people. To inspire me: I share some real life creativity. Floral arrangements I made for my BFF's wedding last month :) I police playing florist :)
My #morningdoodle is equal parts #handlettering + floral installation! :) This morning I celebrate @colettebaron_reid's wise words about #meditation ❤
Trigger alert: #Death Talk The webinar went great! I am already evolving it and likely will offer it again in November as people's feedback + stories continue to inspire me so much :) Today's digital doodle - a key slide improved by my sister's dinosaur drawing (@janinepham draws the best dinosaurs) This is one of my favourite slides because it drives home a key point I illustrate often when I teach: someone's function, their ability to independently do daily activities like bathing, walking, eating and will change over time. Diseases will influence what the pattern of functional change looks like over time (thanks researchers Lynn + Adamson for your 2003 disease residents research!). Yet, the most prevalent image / pattern we have of death tends to be this one - sudden death. I joke that it is death by dinosaur attack but often is it deaths by accident, violence or acute medical event. I honour the very real tragedy of unexpected deaths. There is a huge difference between sudden, unexpected deaths that happen over a short amount of time (pictured above) and the majority of deaths that happen in reality which are the result of chronic, progressive disease and frailty. My focus + expertise is on the latter. I love to help caregivers become more literate about the expected changes when there is known disease that will impact elders over time. Helping elders + families to understand finite time and energy resources helps them to priorize what is most meaningful to them. It helps with risk / benefit analyses in conversations about health care decision making. Indeed, considering the framework of function, time and meaningfullness is imperative in the care of ourselves as well. The most vital, well people I meet, the ones who are sparkly eyed even in their deathbed, are the ones that are connected to their meaning. This transcends time and function ❤
Today #morningdoodle - I saw a version of this picture a while ago and it simultaneously tickled me / deeply comforted me. So this morning, I share it with you all hoping for similar effect :) I incorporated some whimsy into my version (green blob = threat of alligator) and in future versions of this I will figure out how to draw in that magic can happen with expanded awareness. For now, this. To remind you that it is ongoing process and checkpoints, it is always getting better and you are always more experienced after each peak + valley. All the #woots :) ❤
It feels like I am at this little dude's pace right now! Still, I am reminded of a favourite teaching - the slower you go, the faster you get there. It goes hand in hand with the reminder to be kind and gentle. Thank you for the teachings dear family! #morningdoodle
This morning's #doodle. It popped into my mind as a reminder. Thanks Universe :) so
Today's #morningdoodle - this one is a big deal. It is a doodle that will fundamentally change how I ask questions in my #death + #dying work. Its roots are from a very illuminating Friday conversation I had with amazing Tina who is a cancer survivor. She gathers other cancer survivors together for support and reflection on how cancer presents an opportunity for transformation and deeper living. Tina shared that a game changing perspective during her illness was the question "do I really want to live?" This led to other questions - why do I want to live, want for, how much etc. I can appreciate how asking this forces us to connect more deeply with the propelling why that keeps us living and breathing. This question also shifts the responsibility of action back to us solely - it reminds me of #MaryOliver #wisdom "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
#morningdoodle #wisdom for the second week of having my own office hours. These words are so potently relevant for everything in my life right now. Do the work :) An essential part of the work = pursue your allurements. Make your feeling state a priority. Under these conditions, giving and receiving = #netawesome ❤
