“Good thing I trust you.” Seth grinned wider and sat down the glass with soda. There were few people that would take that without teasing. “It’ll be a good show. Madison Square Garden, here I come. That’s big. Bigger than big. I’m excited.” He really couldn’t contain it. At her question, he glanced over with a half smile. “Maybe. Do you think you’re distracting?”

“As you should.“ If there was one thing Jocelyn had going for her it was that she was a good friend. Even about matters that were more jokes than serious. “That is bigger than big. I have to say, Caruso, I’m proud.” She shrugged her shoulders, resting her head on her hand. “That’s a trick question. If I say yes, I sound vain. If I say no, I sound insecure.”

          “Put a little more more garlic on there, I need something to keep the creeps away. Oh, and more sauce. Way more sauce. Do you got a few extra fries for me, too? I’ll give you an extra big tip.” Amara winked at the waiter, waving with a few one dollar notes to get him to give her some extra fries. Glancing sideways at the person standing next to her, she added, “Don’t judge me. I’ve been dancing for hours and it makes me freaking hungry every single time. A lot can go into this stomach, you won’t believe it.”

“No judgement here,” She started. “In fact I’ll have what she’s having.” Jocelyn told the waiter with a laugh. The meal sounding delicious to her too. “Trust me I believe it. All that exertion could make anyone starving. This isn’t really the same but I was just on one of those intense diets and now I can eat what I want so it’s like anything and everything. I totally get it.”

Seth grinned back at her in return, starting to sip on his new drink as soon as it arrived. “Shh. We’re not telling anyone.” He held his finger up to his lips quickly. He was trying to still be the fun party guy, even if he wasn’t drinking. “November 11th. Just about a month away, so I’m smack in the middle of camp. Which unfortunately means no drinking, and no distractions.”

“Don’t worry I’ll be sure to keep it hush hush.” She told him, making a cross over her heart with her finger. “I’ll make sure to mark that date in my calendar. I want to see you kick some ass,” Jocelyn said before taking a sip of her own drink that had made it’s way to her. “No distractions? Do I count as one of those?“

“Photos right when the snow falls, got it.” Lila said, making a mental checklist of the things this woman was saying. “But its snow–surely it can’t be that bad. Even when dirty. Like, its frozen water falling the sky in a crystal form. It’s gotta be pretty, at least a little, right?” Nodding, she smiled at the woman’s offer. “That’s be great, actually–I am absolutely crap with fashion and can use all the help i can get.”

“Outside of the city it’s gorgeous. But in the middle of Manhattan it’s not the best at all. Still pretty when it’s falling though. I always watch from my window when the storm starts.“ She explained. “Well you’re in luck because fashion is quite literally a specialty of mine. I’m a model, aspiring designer but that’s a little hush hush for now.”

“You sure about that, Joce?” Seth looked up from his drink, smirking to himself and laughing quietly. “It’s pretty potent.” He lied, sipping from his pepsi. He was deep in training and tried to keep the drinking to a minimum during his camp. His brows lifted in challenge and he downed the rest of his soda, waving for another.

“I’m just going to ignore you doubting my drinking abilities. I know you didn’t mean to.“ She teased, shrugging off her jacket and hanging it on the back of the stool. “Besides I’ve been drinking long enough to know that that’s soda. I can see the bubbles. Are you training?”

“Oh yeah, definitely. It’s not burning my throat, it’s probably not for me. But just outta…curiosity, what’s in your cup again?”

“This is going to sound really bad but I’m not actually sure. I told the bartender to surprise me. It’s strong and tastes good, that’s about all I know.“

“That was the most important part anyway, so you’re pretty well caught up,” Aaron said with a shrug before crumpling up the piece of paper and throwing it into the trash. “I think I just need to whole up in a cabin somewhere for a week. Incommunicado. I’ve got the publishers and the marketing department on my ass about when they’re going to get the next Belamy Rie pages…” Not to mention he had to actually write the next Belamy Rie pages… He just felt like he was a powder keg ready to explode. 

“I would’ve framed that. Remind everyone how not to be an idiot.” She said, pointing to the trash can where he’d thrown away the letter. “Shit is that guy giving you some elaborate excuse as to why he hasn’t given you the pages yet?“ That would definitely be what Jocelyn would’ve done. The girl couldn’t hardly ever stick to deadlines for anything.

Jocelyn was glad that the fashion week she was walking in overseas was finally over. She had decided to return to New York rather than jet setting off to somewhere else because coming home was always what she needed to remain sane. One of the things on her list for the night was going to a bar. Walking in, she sat down on one of the bar stools. “One long island iced tea and whatever they’re having.” She said, motioning to the person next to her.

“So I know it’s only September–I know. But you’re telling me that it’s still too early for snow?” Lila sighed, wrinkling her nose at the thought. A barista at the local coffee shop had mentioned the word today and images immediately found their way into her mind. Pictures of snow covered streets, warm light from the street lamps and just an overall senes of holiday cheer. The woman hadn’t really seen real snow before–the light dusting they would sometimes get in South Carolina didn’t count–and she was more than ready for the wintery weather. “Also, what does one wear in the snow? I am really unprepared of this.”

“Be glad about that. The snow isn’t that pretty for long. Especially when it starts to melt and look dirty. If you’re planning on taking any pictures when it does I’d suggest getting them right after the snow falls. Otherwise it’ll just look bad. At least in the city,” Jocelyn laughed softly at the thought. She’d seen more than a few New York City snows in her life. “You mean you need to go shopping? Because if so I offer my services. I’m an expert at everything ‘clothes’.”

“And this is the best part,” Aaron said, looking up briefly from the letter for emphasis. “‘I have chosen to forego representation, so that I may act as my own advocate’ - translation: no agent would take me - ‘and I truly believe that editing this incredible novel would be an invaluable stepping stone in your career.’ Seriously? Calm down. You got your MFA from the same place Michael Cohen got his law degree…”
