Hi - my name's Jodie. I used to use the blog jodieneary.tumblr.com and I've toyed with the idea for a little while about revamping my Book Blog. When I first started that blog it was November 2011. I was in my final year of studying Creative Writing and Drama at university. I was 20 years old. I had no real idea what I was going to do. Which meant that my blog was all over the place, difficult to maintain and with no clear structure.I am a very different person than who I was in 2011. I'm now in my late twenties. I'm saving to buy my own house. I have a full time job and next year I will be married. With all that in mind, I thought it best to start again - with my Book Blog 2.0 and with it a shiny new instragram. I'll be linking the two together to share all my bookish thoughts.

First Horror - what made you fall in love with Horror. When I was younger and I started reading for fun, I went through a stage of loving creepy book covers. This is one of the oldest books on my shelves (I didn't get into book buying until university) I loved the spooky atmosphere and the creepy cover. Well I am on a roll. Three books down for the month of October. Today's theme for #octoberhorrorgram Is Favourite Horror Trope - tbh I don't read that much horror so bit tricky. However, I love books like #murdertrending because they play around with tropes- that's a favourite for me. This book was a suspenseful pacey cross between the Hunger Games and The Circle. Very funny and witty but also brutal. OCTOBER TBR It's the spookiest month of the year and my favourite part of the year. I'm enjoying the cooler days, the autumn fashion and I am looking forward to my upcoming reads. I'm going to try and post a little more frequently. Including reviews of what I've read through the month. This month I want to try and get to the 100 book mark. That means I've got quite a bit of reading to do. Already today I have finished the first book (I had started last month) A MAN NAMED OVE by Fredrik Backman which was a great read. This means I have 13 more to read to get to 100. Would make it one of my best months of the year. In no particular order I want to read: 1- Sadie by Courtney Summers (currently listening to audiobook) 2- Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie 3- PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han 4- And I Darken by Kiersten White 5- Hocus Pocus and the All New Sequel 6-#murdertrending by Grerchen McNeil 7- Mirage by Somaiya Daud 8- Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han 9- Matilda by Roald Dahl 10- Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller 11- The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson 12- Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire 13- Pride by Ibi Zoboi A big TBR to be sure but there are some factors this month that make me think I can stretch myself. Well that is September over and I cannot believe that it is coming to my favourite time of year. This year has gone sooo quickly. Recent Read! Now I am a complete fool for sprayed edges as I'm sure I've mentioned it before. But this book raised the game and had the chalk man edges. This is the sole reason I got this book. How bad is that? I read this earlier in the month and I absolutely loved it. Very creepy thriller story. Lived up to it's cover design. I just cant believe it is nearly the end of September. I'll try and do a wrap up but I'm already prepping for next month. I'm getting very close to my personal best year. I'm also getting close to the mark where I said I would read War and Peace. Staying at my sisters for the week and she has the best rug for backdrops. I finished two books in the last couple of days - #sixofcrows which was such an adventure and #crazyrichasians which was not what I expected but none the less a great read. I'm making the most of the rest of the day and starting a new book. I think I'm going to read #littlefireseverywhere I'm having a great reading month in Septmeber and hope it continues. I can't remember off the top of my head but I've got to be close to my personal best for the reading year. I think #bookstagram has played a massive part of that. I am not normally one for reading poetry. I enjoy it in small doses. I also tend to prefer more traditional poetry than more contemporary poetry (e.g Milk and Honey) but this for me was the perfect blend of both. She Must be Mad by Charley Cox is a short poetry and prose collection split into sections about the female experience. I really connected with a lot of the poems and stories in this collection. My book buying ban ended this month and my goodness have I more than made up for it. Went a little overboard and think I've got enough books to now last me the year. 📖 REVIEW 📖 So I have only posted reviews on here sporadically - I had initially intended to just post photos on here and then reviews on Tumblr but I never thought I'd end up loving Bookstagram as much as I do. With that in mind I'm going to start posting my reviews here - not of every book I read, just the ones I really want to talk about (good or bad) To start it off I wanted to talk about These Rebel Waves which was last months @fairyloot book. I've featured it a couple times in photos now but I finished it yesterday and just had to review it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I wasn't sure going into this book what I was going to think. It was a big book and sometimes big YA books are very slow and overwritten. But when this kicked into pace, it was like the swash-buckling adventure it was sold as. The characters were great and they went on a good arch for saying this was only Book 1 in the series. I'm really keen to see it develop further. The world building was what I loved best. It took it's time and built layers as you went through the novel which was effective. I love the magic system based on plants - refreshing. It actually shocked me in places. Normally I can guess the twists coming in YA but there were so many times when my face was literally 😲 I cannot wait for the next book in the series so thank you @fairyloot for including this book, otherwise I think it would of flown under my radar. Right Bookstagram I need your help. After a pretty massive round of bookhauling I have treated myself a bit too much and I'm not sure where to even start with this newly grown (already massive) TBR. This is where you come in. You've never steered me wrong before. I've narrowed down to three titles and these are actually three I have seen quite a bit of on here. First- #psistillloveyou. I adored #toalltheboysilovedbefore both book and film. I think I could quite easily jump back into Lara Jeans world. Pro for reading - I'd probably have it finished in a day or so. Con - am I YA'd out? Second - #littlefireseverywhere I know very little about this other than I am seeing it everywhere. I don't want to spoil myself by looking into it too much. Pro - something a bit different to what I have been reading Con - I have no idea what it's about. Third - #crazyrichasians I again have seen this everywhere. Know a little about it and I know there is a movie coming out soon. Pro- different to what I have been reading Con - ...really just that sticker on my copy is bothering me and it's in the design :/ also is it over hyped? HELP ME! Three Dark Crowns - I feel like I am finally getting my teeth into this book. I'm just struggling to see how it is going to devop as I'm rooting for everyone at this point. What books have you on the edge of your seat? Todays prompt for #bookstagramtogethersept is Book Rainbow and last time I did this I was happy with how the picture turned out. So I've decided to do a tag of my own A Rainbow Song Tag. I have taken songs with the colours of the rainbow in them to inspire a book choice. RED (Red by Taylor Swift- a book that was easy to fall in love with) for this I have got to pick my fave series of the year so far and say #ACOTAR I just got swept up in these books ORANGE (Orange Country Girl by Gwen Stefani - a book set in an extraordinary world) so for this I picked Strange the Dreamer the world building in this story is just beautiful. YELLOW (Yellow by Coldplay - favourite couple from a book) I'm going to say Will/Lyra from His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. They broke my heart. GREEN (Green Green Grass of Home by Tom Jones- a book set near your home) it's got to be Pride and Prejudice for me - the only thing obviously known about Derbyshire. BLUE (Blue Suede Shoes - a book you own because it's so pretty) my new bookhaul came today and oh my goodness my copy of Eliza and Her Monsters is so beautiful. INDIGO (Purple Rain by Prince - a book that makes you cry) TIFOS all day every day. Where has this sunny weather come from? I did not sign up for this. I am way too ready for it to be cold and Autumnal. Today is day one in the BookstagramTogether tag for September. August wasnt a great reading month for me so I'm being optimistic for the new month. I've also picked out less YA to read as I'm fancying something a bit different.
