YEEEEW, like the only footage I have of me drumming. It goes for a whole three seconds.
I use Medium Traditional Byzance Meinl Cymbals and a 14x8 Gretsch Rosewood Snare. Sound is phat.
If I could drum my whole life I would.
My snare drum is one of my most treasured and cared-for possessions.
To provide context, it first belonged to my good friend. Living in an apartment, he was unable to play it. When he did, it was lugged around in its original box, however eventually the snare was moved to the garage. He hated seeing it not being played, and therefore gave it to me as a gift last Christmas.
To depict the drum’s secret life from its point of view, I photographed images of the before and after of being passed on. A drum’s primary purpose is to be hit, to be played. As it sat in a bedroom, and eventually in a garage, the snare drum kept longing to be played. When it was given to me, the drum finally felt cared for. It had a sense of place to be amongst other drum equipment and found its rightful home on stage and part of a whole drum kit.
