Lon Chaney and Anna Mae Wong are husband and wife in Bits of Life (1921). Anna was born in Los Angeles and was Hollywood’s first Asian-American star. She had 63 acting credits in her career, from an uncredited bit in 1919 through an appearance on TV’s The Barbara Stanwyck Show in 1961. In the silent era, she was a slave girl in Thief of Bagdad and Tiger Lily in Peter Pan. She transitioned well into talkies including a part in Shanghai Express (1932) with Marlene Dietrich, although she was typically typecast in supporting parts.
