Ten weeks ago, it felt like these puppies would be here forever. A year ago, I was planning my summer litters, making breeding plans, watching dates on the calendar, and wondering what these little lives would eventually become.

And then, all at once… they arrive.

Ten weeks of little sleep, puppy breath, endless laundry, puppy antics, laughter, worry, chaos, cuddles, and so many unforgettable moments disappear in what feels like the blink of an eye.

And oddly enough… you start to miss it when they leave.

When the second little girl went to her amazing forever home today, let’s just say I was a wreck. 🥹💗

There are so many people who helped make these past weeks special, and I am incredibly grateful.

To my family, thank you for your unwavering support EVERY step of the way. You put up with the sleepless nights, the chaos, the laundry, the worry, and everything in between. I couldn’t do this without you.

To Kisu and Peach, thank you for being the ultimate mama dogs. ❤️

And to all of my wonderful puppy owners who waited a year or more for one of these babies. Thank you for your patience and, most importantly, for giving them homes where they will be loved, cherished, spoiled, and given every opportunity to truly flourish.

Thank you for allowing us to remain part of their journeys. It means more than you will ever know. It is such a privilege to continue watching these puppies grow into everything we hoped for… and then some.

Before we know it, we’ll be seeing some of them in the show ring, while others are busy being treasured family members and living their very best lives.

But for now…

I hope all of our friends and fellow Shiba lovers had a wonderful holiday season! Hard to believe we’re already well into 2026. At this time, our demand is rather high and we cannot anticipate availability for new homes until 2027.

Over the years, interest in our Shibas has continued to grow, along with the number of truly wonderful people reaching out. To keep the process fair, intentional, and thoughtfully matched to each litter, we will no longer be maintaining a standing waitlist. Instead, applications will open litter-by-litter, only after a breeding has been confirmed and we feel confident there will be availability. This approach allows us to focus on homes that are truly ready when a litter is planned.

It’s also important to note that placement is not first-come, first-served.

Every litter is unique, and applications are evaluated based on the specific temperaments, traits, and goals of each pairing—whether for a companion home, performance home, or show/breeding prospect.

Our process is as follows:

I will be as transparent as possible on social media and our website regarding future breeding plans and will share hints well in advance.

Once a litter is formally announced on www.jogososhibainu.com, interested parties may email us to receive an application link.

Applications will remain open until I have identified enough suitable homes to fill the available spots for that litter.

Every applicant will be contacted—either to arrange a next-step phone interview if I feel there may be a good fit, or to let you know that this particular litter (or the breed itself) may not be the right match. Submitting an application is simply one step in the process and does not guarantee placement.

If you’re hoping for a Jogoso puppy, please keep an eye on our Instagram and website, where I will formally announce when applications open for each litter.

Looking ahead, I plan to conclude my breedings early in the year, allowing the remainder of 2026 to be dedicated to travel for Specialty and All-Breed shows, as well as competing in Scentwork, Fast CAT, and more.

Quick FAQ

• Can I be added to a waitlist now?

At this time, we do not maintain a standing waitlist. Applications are only accepted once a specific litter is announced.

• Does applying guarantee a puppy?

No. Submitting an application is just one step in the process and does not guarantee placement.

• Is placement first-come, first-served?

No. Puppies are placed based on temperament, structure, and suitability for the goals of each home.

• Are there any housing or experience requirements?

Yes. At this time, applications from apartment or condo living situations will not be accepted, and repeat Shiba Inu owners are given preference, as our current breeding and placement goals are best supported by established homes with prior Shiba experience and appropriate space for the breed’s activity, management, and long-term stability.

• When should I apply?

Only after applications officially open for a specific litter and are announced on our website and social media.

• Will I hear back if I apply?

Yes. All applicants will receive a response, whether to move forward or to let you know it’s not the right fit for that litter or the breed.

We are thrilled to announce that Jax was awarded Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! His father Kai won Best of Breed at WKC in February of 2020. We will post official win photo when available.

Kisu and Koji completed the AKC Temperament Test ( ATT) last month. There are 198 AKC recognized breeds. One of the things that makes a specific breed unique is not only the dog’s physical appearance, but each breed also has its own distinctive temperament.

The ATT was developed to bring focus and provide a meaningful evaluation to assess the temperament of our canine companions.

The ATT tests how a dog reacts to a variety of stimuli. Desirable traits are that the dog will be emotionally stable, inquisitive, cooperative, appropriately social for its breed, biddable and demonstrates the ability to recover from a startling situation in a reasonable amount of time.

Undesirable traits are fear, shyness, lack of cooperation and an inability to recover from unfamiliar or unexpected situations. Examples of undesirable behaviors include being afraid of friendly strangers or unfamiliar stimuli, obsessive barking, and aggression.

In the ATT, dogs are tested in 6 categories of stimuli that include:

Social, Auditory, Visual, Tactile, Proprioceptive(motion), Unexpected stimulus

I get asked all the time if a certain breeder is legitimate or reputable. Let me break it down for you. Breeders do NOT put "puppy" in their name... that is a red flag. Example Jogoso Shibas NOT Jogoso Puppies. Go look at the page, scroll wayyy down, the website started brand new this year... red flag. Go to the puppy page, see how they are all different backgrounds, those are stolen photos... red flag. There are no pictures of the adults... red flag. Every puppy is show quality...never happens, a breeder might find one or two in a litter that are show quality but not every single one that they breed. There are no pictures of the dogs as they get older and all are the same age ? Nope! red flag! Run far away... it's a scam.

We first started our dogs with Coursing Ability (CA) tests ten years ago. Fastcat (FCAT) is now all the rage and is the fastest growing dog sport in AKC.
