What the hell is it? Exactly what is says on the box. An appreciation day for the character of the Doctor.
When? 23 of October 2014.
Why? Why not? There are appreciation days/weeks for many DW characters and theyâre a great way to celebrate a character and make pretty edits. Somehow, I havenât seen a day like that dedicated to the Doctor (except for âThe Day of the Doctorâ, ho-ho-ho). At first - since this blog is dedicated to Eleven - I wanted to make Eleven appreciation day, but I thought âhey, the fandom is already grossly divided as it is, letâs not add to thatâ. Hence the general Doctor appreciation day. Letâs see if that works out.
Right, so what do we do? You know, the usual: gifsets, graphics, fanmixes, fanart, videos, metas, fics. You can get some ideas from this meme, focus on your favourite episode/scene, your favourite regeneration, your favourite Big Finish story, your favourite book, favourite hair moment of your favourite regeneration - the possibilities are limitless.
How do we tag it? #doctor appreciation day. I, too, am amazed by the sheer originality of this tag. You can also use #dwedit. There are also #nineedit, #tenedit, #elevenedit,#twelveedit tags. I am not sure if the Classic Who fandom has tags for their edits - if you do, please, let me know.Â
Rule #2: donât be an ass. You donât like a certain regeneration/an actor/a writer? Fine, but instead of shitting on them, focus on the characters you love. This makes life much better, trust me.Â
Rule #3: focus on the Doctor as much as possible. Letâs not make it about ships or companions or âthat era of the show was better!!!â, okay?
Anything else? Yes, probably the most important thing: ALL INCARNATIONS OF THE DOCTOR ARE MORE THAN WELCOME.
