Blog 9

Like most college students, I am not different in the sense that money is very tight and it is really tough paying for school and as I am writing this, I realize how good of a topic this would be for my project for this class but then again mine about the cheating New England Patriots is better (and by the way, the Bills will definitely be handing the Patriots their first loss of the season in a couple weeks when they play on Monday Night Football). Anyways, as I was saying before I got off topic, I think that it is a lot of bull shit that Financial Aid and the school just automatically assume that if your parents make a certain amount of money, that they are paying fully for your college tuition. Because in most cases, including mine, that is not how it goes. My parents pay for the house I live in, most of the clothes I wear, a lot of the food I eat (which is a lot) and buy me presents on Christmas and my birthday, but it is not like they are rich and just like swimming in money. Therefore, they do not pay for any of my college and the financial aid just simply doesn’t care if you are a student having to pay for all of your college experience as in what I myself is doing. It is tough for a student that has school full time classes and still has to find time for a job and time for homework and if they are lucky find time to have a little fun, but for me and a lot of my teammates on the football team, it is extra hard to find ways to have a source of income, mostly because we are just like regular full time students who have to study and go to class, but for four hours a day everyday, our lives are committed to our sport. From two to about six o clock every single day except Sunday, we give all of our time and energy to the sport we love and then we get home and have no time to try to find a job. I work a part time job that I have had for almost a year now and I went from working five days a week and about 30 hours a week to working only on Sundays and only working seven hours a week. And to those who are reading this thinking, “Well if you are not making enough money,then why don’t you just not play football” and I have thought about that and I realize what I am doing and I know since I am lucky enough to have a chance to play college football and if I did not do it, I would regret it for the rest of my life, and also, I love playing football, football is pretty much my life. So in conclusion, I think that the financial aid should help out kids like me who are broke as hell.

Blog 8

As much as I spend my time watching movies and I've seen just about as many football games on tv as some of the biggest football fans, I have always been a fan of television shows. No matter I they are dramatic shows or comedic shows they are usually very entertaining. It is kind of fun to watch shows that are very popular because you can interact with other people about them and especially if you watch the show on say a Sunday night, on Monday when you go to school or work you instantly have something to talk about and television shows can turn out to be great conversation starters that turn into wonderful discussions. I also like watching the really popular shows as the come out because if they are good they will usually get award recognitions and it is very fun to root for your favorite tv shows at award shows like the annual Golden Globes or the Primetime Emmys. That's why it was very fun every week when I watched Breaking Bad. I watched the first four seasons of the show on Netflix to catch up by the time the fifth and final season started. I would record it on Sunday night and Monday I would have two a days football practices and in between practices I would go home and watch the latest episode of Breaking Bad. Then at practice or at school I could have great conversations with people that also watched it. Speaking of Breaking Bad, I would probably make the argument that it is the greatest television show of all time. The performances given by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman respectively are some of the greatest acting I have ever seen so it was very cool to see both of them receive awards for their work on the show. Another amazing show that is fun to talk about with other people is Game of Thrones, which is another show that could be thrown into the discussion of greatest shows of all time, although it is kind of hard considering the show is not done yet and it still has some chances to crap the bed in the last few seasons. Speaking of great shows that crapped the bed in the last few seasons, another one of my favorite dramas is Dexter. Dexter I think had a great performance and writing throughout the whole 8 season series but I believe it kind of crapped out after the amazing fourth season. Each season kind of had its own story line and the first four were incredible whereas the last four were just kind of "eh". Some of my favorite comedic shows of all time would include How I Met Your Mother, which is the show I've seen the most times probably because I've seen every episode like three times, Scrubs, which is a comedy show that also has some very heavy drama at times which is natural for a show that takes place in a hospital, and The Office and Parks and Recreation which are two shows that I view as very similar as they both follow the mockumentary format and are probably the two funniest shows of all time. Some of my other favorite shows are The Sopranos, Friends, Entourage, and 30 Rock.

Blog 7

I always claim that my two biggest passions in life are football and movies, and those two most certainly are but there is a lot more about me that I like. Football, I believe is the best sport in the world but I am also a fan of other sports. In high school I was the captain for the football team but I also was for the wrestling team. I definitely argue for the fact that by far the hardest and most physically demanding sport in the whole entire world is wrestling. Wrestling challenges you to give it your all and use every last bit of energy that you have to compete, and it was always against another guy that was giving it all that they got too. It required a lot of physical traits when you did the sport of wrestling, you had to be strong, you had to have a good amount of speed and quickness, and most of all, you had to have good cardio and endurance because unless you were really good and could pin your kid in the first period, it would be a dog fight in the other periods. I also played lacrosse in middle school, and I got ejected from a game for hitting a kid in the throat with my sticks during a game and I also got suspended for a game for doing that. I led the team in penalty minutes because every time i went out there, I would hit a kid and just get a penalty. I also ran track when I was in 7th grade. That year I was actually kind of fast, even though its hard to believe that by knowing that now, I would be a big offensive lineman in college. I also used to play little league soccer for a few years, I would also get a lot of penalties in that sport because I kind of played full contact soccer, even though soccer is clearly a non contact sport, I still used to hit kids and run them over just because I was bigger than them. Now that I am looking back on it, I was kind of a dick in little league soccer. And now I still play sports other than football with my friends, but I am usually pretty bad like when I go to play basketball with my friends I am just completely awful, and if for some reason we decide to golf, and someone lets me borrow their clubs, I am just the worst at it. Baseball and bowling, if you count that as a sport, I suck at those too. I am so happy that I am somewhat decent at football, otherwise I might be the most unathletic kid in the world.

Reading Others Projects

I thought it was really cool and interesting to check out other peoples project ideas and for all three of them that I read, they are all projects that I can relate to directly, one was about how people spend their hours during the day and how the internet can effect peoples sleep time, another was about the poverty in Buffalo and I have lived in Buffalo my whole life so I can relate to that, and another one was how alcohol effects athletes in college and that one is really interesting to me. I am looking forward to what these and others projects turn out to be.

My project will be on the dangerous effects of alcohol abuse with college students. I will mainly be focusing on alcohol use in college athletes and how this impacts performance. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism college drinking is a significant public health problem. It has been estimated that the average American college student drinks more than 34 gallons of alcohol every year. College is an environment that promotes heavy binge drinking and creates an unsafe scene where this behavior is expected. Binge drinking is more commonly associated with college athletes. This may be because of the short off-seasons and few rest periods during the week. When there is a chance to relax athletes tend to over-indulge. Alcohol abuse is the precursor to various other issues including death, injury, and other social problems. Alcohol abuse leads to many academic problems in college students such as, missing class, falling behind, doing poorly on exams or papers, and receiving lower grades. In athletes these issues can lead to consequences with coaches, the athletic department, and it can decrease overall performance. Alcohol impairs many of the body’s functions that allow an athlete to perform at an optimal level. Alcohol negatively impacts the body’s muscle development and recovery, affects your ability to learn new plays and strategies, and affects an athlete’s nutrition and endurance. Because student athletes are held to a higher standard than regular students at times the consequences of alcohol abuse can have a greater impact on their quality of life. Because of this, it is sometimes hard to find accurate statistics and information because schools and athletes most of the time are not readily willing to admit their failures. They would much rather publicize the accomplishments of their athletes rather than the consequences that had to be administered to punish students who have abused alcohol.

I agree with what you are saying tremendously and I think that this will be a very informative project and also a very interesting one. As a college athlete myself, I know of all the dangers that alcohol can bring to even people that are not athletes. I have known a few kids who have dealt with this problem and a couple of my buddies from high school who go to different colleges have definitely formed an alcohol problem. I am highly interested in the aspect of how alcohol effects an athletes ability to perform and I am looking forward to your project.

Project 1 topic

My project 1 topic will be on the poorest part in Buffalo. For as long as I can remember I have always been interested in poverty and ways to prevent it. My dream job is have my own charity and travel around the world helping those who are less fortunate than I am. This is a topic that is extremely important to me because I feel that everyone should live on equal terms. Too many people get stuck in unavoidable situations that causes them to be unsuccessful. I want everyone to have the same opportunity that someone like me has had in this country. I Understand that Buffalo is one of the poorest parts in Buffalo so I feel like this will be a great topic to do my project on.  I feel that many people will be interested in our class considering that we are all living in the city for the time being. It would interest some people in this class if I talked about important things in The city of Buffalo. We all know that poverty has been a huge problem here in the United States of America. The city of Buffalo is the one of the poorest cities in America. I would like to come up with something in my project that would address this problem. I want to show what the city has been doing to fix the poverty rates in this specific area. I also want to come up with ways to prevent this problem that we call poverty in that area. statistically the eastern part of Buffalo is the worst part. That area not only has the highest crime rates, This area also is the poorest. But that is expected. When ever you have a poor area you can expect the areas crime rates to be extremely high as well. For my project I plan on demonstrating my topic with a well organized poster. The poster will have Pictures indicates poverty in that particular area. I also plan on having a bunch of statistics as to why this area of Buffalo has not been excelling from an economic standpoint of view. I want pictures on my poster that shows the efforts that have been made by certain people or groups in order to decrease the poverty rates as well. I feel that my project will come out great. If you have any suggestions or ideas please let me know and I will gladly put them into consideration.

I think that this is a great idea for a project and I think, knowing you, that you will do a great job because you are very goal oriented and you know a lot about whatever it is that you are doing. Poverty is definitely a huge problem in all of the the United States and Buffalo is for sure a big part of it. In the media, you hear a lot about cities like St. Louis or Detroit when it comes to poverty but Buffalo is not usually mentioned, and as someone who has lived in the Buffalo area my entire life, I am very very interested to see what your project is like.

  I slept almost until 11 o'clock and I still thought I didn’t have enough sleep. Every day, there is a lot of work to do and I feel I don’t sleep enough every day. I believe everyone has the feeling. Always keep awake until two or three in the morning. I have a friend, he is very busy, almost go to bed every day at three A.M, and in a week, he needs to get up at 5 because he needs to work at 6 in the morning.Why we are not getting enough sleep? Do we really have so many things to do every day? What are we doing every day? Why do we sleep less and less? With these questions, I began to ask my friends. (I only ask them about the weekends, because everyone has different schedules on week days.)   First I asked my boyfriend. He said, he usually get up at 9 in the morning on weekends, and then he spend 30 mins to take a shower, later 9:30 to 10 he needs to  eat the breakfast. And then start playing games from 10 to 11, and then to prepare lunch.  After lunch is his study time. From 12 to 3, he usually writes his homework, and then starts watching movies or TV shows to relax, or if he needs to buy food for the week, about 2 hours. So from 3pm to 5pm is his relaxing time. Starting at 5pm, he needs to perpare the dinner, then eat dinner, probably need to use the last 2 hours. (most of the Chinese food needs to be prepared for at least 1 hours, so every day he needs to spend a lot of time to cook. At the 7pm, he will continue to study and do his homework, he will choose to play games when he needs a rest. He usually go to bed around 12 am, but he used to lie on the bed, watching his phone, so he’s not going to sleep until 1 o'clock somtimes until 2. So I about the statistics, on average (weekends), his daily sleep time is 7 hours, the cooking time is 3.5 hours, the stud time is 6 hours, rest time is 5 hours. Shopping time is 2 hours. Because he doesn’t need to work, so he has plenty of time to relax and rest on the weekend. But from his schedule, it shows that he spend a lot of time on video game and smartphones. This shows that modern technology and the network has become a part of our life, especially in our generation, if the daily life is without a computer, network, smartphones, we will feel that we lost something in our lives, I believe that 99% of people will not not use to live without the network.   And then I asked me another good friend, she and my boyfriend is not the same, she needs to go to work. Every day she sleep 6 hours, 1 hour for a meal, study for 4 hours, 1 hour to take a bath, work 8 hours, the remaining four hours she used to watch movies on the Internet to relax, or play games. Thus, the network has become an inseparable part of the modern people. She is so busy and tired every weekend but she still choose to spend few hours for the internet. So I believe that the Internet is one of the most important reasons that causes us to sleep less and less. Of course I need to do more research to get an answer. My friends around me have given me a lot of help. I will continue to study until I get a more perfect answer.

I think that this is a very interesting topic to discuss. I like that you are doing a project on this simply because i want to know more about it and by listening to you present and asking you questions I will learn a lot about sleep time and how people usually spend time during the day. Personally without my smart phone or the internet or twitter or youtube I would get hours upon hours of more sleep. I agree with getting about 5 hours of sleep is totally not enough to get through the next day and function correctly. I hope you get more statistics on more people and how their schedule and sleep schedule are so that you can get a bigger experiment.

My Project

I am very happy that for this class, I get to do a project on a topic of my choice. And for my topic I chose to discuss the lying and cheating that goes on within the organization that is the New England Patriots, and the guy that so many love to hate, Tom Brady. In this research project, that now I know so much about research projects thanks to that very, very long article we read about research papers and projects, I will be going through the various steps of a proper research project and following the given guidelines for this specific project. For this project, we have to do a lot of research, which I have done. I have looked up a lot of information on these cheaters called the New England Patriots, and I do not like them. It very well could be because they are the rival team of my favorite team in all of sports, the Buffalo Bills, or maybe it could be because they are just so darn good and I am bitter about it. They go to the Super Bowl every few years, they win the division almost every single year, and worst of all they beat the Bills like 20 out of the last 22 games they played each other. And as much as it pains me to type this right now, despite all of the cheating allegations, Tom Brady might be the best quarterback of all time. They have done everything from “Spy-gate” back in the early 2000′s, more recently “Deflate-gate” which took over Sportscenter and ESPN for about 8 months, and most recently “Headset-gate” and within my project and my web I will delve deeper into each of these scandals. My goal is to get my class and my peers to prove these guys guilty and so that they hate them just as much as I do. Hopefully they are already Patriot haters in the class so I have people to agree with me, and also hopefully there are not any Patriot fans that I have to hear crap from. When I present this project, I plan to create a poster of all of their different scandals and all of the bullshit that this team gets away with and that includes quarterback Tom Brady, head coach Bill Belichick, and team owner Robert Kraft who are all suspicious and most likely guilty for their actions. I do not like the Patriots and I hope one day they get stripped of all of their Super Bowl titles because they are all cheaters. Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy my project.

Blog 3

The Bills confuse me. One week they are out there kicking ass, and the next week they're all over the place. I don't know what is going on. I should back track. I have been a Buffalo Bills fan since as long as I could remember. Even when I didn't understand football as a pre-schooler, I would still watch the games with my dad and ask him what color jerseys we were rooting for. But as I starting watching them, I fell in love. They have not been very good since I have been watching them, in fact, I haven't even seen them make the playoffs because the last time they did, I was three years old. But I thought players like Takeo Spikes, Lee Evans, Nate Clements and Eric Moulds were awesome when I was a kid, but my favorite Bills player of all time would have to be JP Losman. And I know I am probably the only one in the world like that but I went to training camp and he was really cool and I talked to him when I was like ten years old and he took a picture with me which is awesome. And he had a cannon arm and he would throw 80 yard bombs to Lee Evans and I loved it. But to the Buffalo Bills of today, I think they can honestly break the playoff drought this year. They have a QB in Tyrod Taylor that is a dual threat. They have one of the best RBs in the league in Shady McCoy. They have the best defensive line in all of football. And the rest of the team is great too. It all comes down to how coach Rex Ryan can lead this team. But I think they can definitely make a run at the Super Bowl. #BillsMafia

Blog #2

In my first blog, I discussed how football has been a huge part of my life and how it has shaped a big part of who I am. But I think that there is another platform that has shaped who I am as a person, and that is film. I love movies, I have been around them since I was a little kid, pretty much wearing out all the VHS tapes of all my Disney movies. My mom tells me that every time I finished The Lion King, I would ask her to rewind it to the beginning over and over. It's kind of weird how many things you notice about kids movies once you get older, for example how The Lion King is pretty much Hamlet or how some Disney movies were kind of racist, but I digress. One movie that really got me into the art of film and helped me appreciate them is The Godfather. The Godfather is a movie that my dad showed me when I was way way too young to see it and way too young to understand what was going on but as I got older and rewatched it a few times I saw the masterpiece that it is. I am a fan of all different types of movies. A lot of my favorite movies of all time have been directed by my favorite director, Martin Scorsese. My top two favorite of all time are Goodfellas and The Departed, which are both movies about the mob and they are both so layered and well directed, acted, and written that I watch each of them a couple times a year. More of Scorsese's movies that I think are brilliant are The Wolf of Wall Street, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, and Casino. I also love the gritty, violent works of Quentin Tarantino. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir dogs are also both up there in my top ten movies list. But like most people, I love to laugh, and comedies are great and it's kind of hard to come by a really good one now a days. Some of the comedies that make me laugh my ass off though are Step Brothers, 21 and 22 Jump Street, Billy Madison and others. I could also go for a film that just has a great story and nobody gets killed and there's no big action scenes or big laughs, for example one of my favorite movies of all time is Good Will Hunting. I think that movie is genius and the performances by Matt Damon and the late, great Robin Williams are some of the best I've ever seen. One last thing that I think is pretty cool is that every year, my mom and I go and try to watch all of the films that are going to be nominated for the Academy Awards, and we get to spend some time together and enjoy our love for film together.

Blog 1

I wrote a rudimentary play in my Intro to Theater class about the box of war letters I was given after my grandmother had died. The letters are from my grandmother, her husband, her brother-in-law and other relatives during World War II. I later designed a video installation around the subject matter and installed it at a City of Night Buffalo event at Silo City. More recently, during a playwriting class I dug in once again and improved the play allowing me to submit that version to a local playwriting workshop in January of this year. My submission was accepted and I have been working with a small group of playwrights, both local and from Canada, to rewrite the play yet again. The current version begins with my grandmother walking into an attic after receiving a telegram informing her that her young husband had been killed in action at the tale end of the Battle of the Bulge. It is a one act and ends an hour later after the ghost of my grandfather visits her to help her work through this devastating news allowing her to leave the attic to resume life with her father-in-law and two young daughters (one being my mother). During a conversation about this event my great-aunt relayed to me that my grandmother indeed read the telegram to herself, put it in her apron pocket and walked up the stairs to a bedroom. Voice-over excerpts from the letters are read as the actor playing my grandmother loads one of my grandfathers hunting rifles heightening the stakes of the play as well as her situation. The scenes revert between the ghost of my grandfather talking with her in ‘real’ time and flashbacks of earlier times in their lives. My grandmother found herself pregnant when she was a senior in high school in the late 1930’s in a small town. When her parents discovered the pregnancy she was forced to marry my grandfather the same day. My grandfather quit school after his sophomore year to raise his family. They lived in the shed behind my grandfather’s homestead with only electricity, using the main house for any water needs. Tongues wagged in the town for years and it was devastating to my grandmother when her husband of less than ten years was killed by an exploding Nazi shell, yet I always knew her to be kind, quiet and generous of spirit. I have defiantly learned that I am indeed from some hearty stock as this story continues to unfold and evolve.

This is a very cool blog. That sounds like a neat play that I would go see. Congratulations on getting your play accepted by the workshop and getting it on stage. It is a very cool subject matter that sounds perfect for a play. I know a little bit about theater as I took a Intro to Theater class last year and my mom directs local plays in the area. I think that the fact that this is a true story is unbelievable and very very cool. Hopefully one day you’ll see one of your plays on stage on Broadway or something, good luck in your future writing!

This blog was kind of all over the place, but I liked it. I thought it was a cool way to introduce yourself and have a mix of random, kind of funny things like how you have really big feet and then at some points you get serious and talk about how you always try to be the person that people want you to be. I also do not really like liars and I agree that people should not lie about stupid things. I thought this was a cool way to introduce yourself but I feel like you should of found one topic and made it flow better into the next fact about you because this was kind of messy but in a good way. Good job.

                       Through the course of my writing history I have come to a conclusion that I have many strengths, but few weaknesses. Two strong writing strengths I tend to have are vocabulary and structure. As a writer I have the ability to overcome writers block. I tend to get deep into my writing and refuse to hold back anything. I am creative, and organized when writing essays or stories. Many people tend be all over the place when determining fist, middle, and last events. I make sure the readers get a clear understanding of everything that occurred and when it did. Creativity draws out more readers whom want to be entertained, but also drawn to the essay. The more creative one is, the better the essay would be. My writing always                                                                                                                                                                                             tends to give the readers a clear understanding. As a writer I need to work on the “little” grammar mistakes. These grammar mistakes are the only thing stopping me from becoming an “A list” writer. Grammar mistakes are common and they occur regularly to many writers whom don’t revise their essays, and feel as if it’s good enough to submit as soon as they complete it. Writing is very important to me. I seldom enjoy reading, but I love to write because it keeps me a live, and many don’t realize it’s a good form of “meditation”. Main topics I love to write about are poverty, gun violence, and education. I focus and put a lot of effort on educational topics because it is the key to success. Without education I would have nothing, and I would be nothing. Most people finish up to high school then make a decision on whether or not he or she should go to college. Obviously when I speak on the importance of education, I am specifically speaking on college. College Is very essential but it is not for everybody. But I do believe if someone can go to college then they should. In life we have two doors. The first door is the one in front of you from pre-k all the way to high school. The second door is very hard to open if you don’t have that college degree, but if you have the degree then you get to see thousands of more opportunities through door two. Not everyone has to go to college to become successful but going increases your chances and puts you up in the runner-ups. Poverty is simply important to me because all my life I struggled growing up with my family, and my neighborhood shows poverty everywhere. Poverty motivates me, and the more I experience the “struggle” the more I hustle, and grind in school. Another topic I spoke about as well as wrote about many times in my academic life is violence. Whether its gun violence or gang violence, violence is still violence and someone either gets killed or physically hurt.Sports, and music help me over come the street environment everyday.

           Through College Writing 102 I would like to go from a very good writer, to a great writer. I want my writing to be looked at as “wow”, rather than “very well written”. I have always been a powerful writer but I want my writing to be consistently powerful. I learned a lot from CWP 101, but from 102 I would simply like to learn “everything” there is to learn. I will reach my goals by doing what I do best, focusing, putting in “A” effort, asking questions, and trying my best to my up most ability. The only thing my CWP 102 professor can do to help my goals be reached is by teaching the class the ins and outs, having me leave the class at the end of the semester with fewer questions than when I came in. I am a quick learner. With that being said, teach what should be taught, and my goal shall be reached.

I really like this blog, but to start things off, I am kind of jealous that you have the ability to overcome writers block as that is usually a hard thing for me to do. I agree with you when you talk about education. I think education is one of the keys to success in life and without education, people may not be where they are today. I also admire the fact that poverty motivates you to work hard and grind in school as I too have the same thoughts. Overall I liked your blog and it was nice to see someone with similar views as me.

Playlists Of My Life

Whether I am standing in a dark crowded venue with blaring guitars and lights, using the rhythm to move my body across a dance floor or humming along to one of my favorite songs while drawing alone in my room, music has always been my gateway to contentment. I live for the moments when I breathe in, open my eyes, and use various playlists to express myself in different ways. Music brings me to a place where I feel most in my element. 

Playlist One ( “Im Spinning”)

This playlist is filled with upbeat, chaotic, indie pop songs that bring life and joy to my soul. I remember the night of the Passion Pit concert. One of the best sensations is being able to feel the intensity of the music in my chest, allowing myself to drown in the music not only emotionally, but literally. As a concert junkie, I never tire of standing in a condensed space with bodies constantly shoving through to reach the stage while I hear nothing but the deafening music canceling out every other sound.  As I let my arms fly high into the sticky air, I notice that I have found my peace of mind.

Playlist Two ( “Ambients/Instrumentals”)

This playlist is filled with extremely powerful songs without lyrics. These songs express a specific mood to which I picture myself dancing. Dancing is another way I use music to guide me into a state of tranquility. I immerse myself with the sounds and allow myself to tell a story by moving to the music. I feel a rush of energy and I allow the music to take over my body. I forget the other bodies are there dancing with me, and I enter my own creation of a world where I am happy.

I am filled with bursts of creativity and new ideas while drowning in the songs of this playlist. I able to create a vivid pictures in my mind by simply listening. This music is my escape from reality. When I feel overwhelmed, extremely happy, or angry, I throw my headphones on and listen to this playlist. Sometimes I sprawl out on my bed with my eyes closed and just listen. Other times I take out my sketchbook and let the mood of the music effect the way I move the pencil.

    Each playlist is filled with music that represents different environments where I express myself and feel satisfied. The places where I feel most comfortable and content are those where music is involved. My obsession with concerts, my love for dancing, and the motivation to discover creative ideas have given me playlists for my life. With music, I become the greatest version of myself.

I really enjoyed reading this blog, it gives very in depth descriptions and instantly puts me in the mood of whatever you are writing about. I really like how you separated the blog into three different sections and how each of them were different music playlists for different situations. I am a big fan of many different kinds of music but it seems like you have a real passion for it, and I love seeing people be passionate about different things. This blog really showed me that music is not all just about the radio and whats popular but it can show how music can shape your life. Also, whatever mood you’re in, you can pop on a playlist and put in some headphones and drift away. Great job with this post I really liked it.

My name is John Navarro and I am a journalism major who does not particularly like to write. The plan for when I applied to college as a journalism major was to be a sports guy for the local news or something like that but since then, I have kind of lost interest. I like to write about things that interest me though. For example, I can write all day about football or movies or something because those two things are my two big passions. Football is the biggest part of my life, I believe that it is one of the most competitive and toughest sports to play in the world. In third grade I decided that I wanted to play football, so my parents signed me up for little league. After my first day, some older kid hit me so hard that I instantly thought that I did not want to play anymore, then I went to my dad and he told me that “that’s football”, so i got back out there and it changed my life. I played five years in little league, and my final year I had to make the weight of 135 to play in the game, I weighed about 140 the morning of the game, I didn’t eat anything that day, put on multiple layers of sweatshirts and went behind the field and ran until I couldn’t run anymore. I took off the sweatshirts and stepped on the scale, it said 135 exactly. That moment taught me if i work hard enough for what I want, nothing is impossible. I continued my playing career throughout high school and now into college. I learned one of the most important lessons my senior year of high school. I was voted captain of the team and led the team on to the field game in and game out, when it came to the last game of the year before the playoffs and I thought I broke my finger, so I had the trainer wrap it up and I returned to the game and continued playing. The trainer told me after the game that it would probably be best if i went and saw a doctor just to make sure that I would be okay. So I went to the doctors and they told me that I had a ruptured tendon in my finger and that I would be out for 3 months. I took it pretty hard but then I realized I had two choices, I can sit here and cry about it or I can be a leader to this team that needs me. I chose to continue being a captain to that great team and still showed up to every practice and game after that. This taught me to never give up and sometimes I just have to take what life gives me.
