I hope this finds you well. Itâs been 3 years since I started writing and Iâll be honest for maybe half of that time I have been inactive. University well and truly took over my life. In just over a month Iâll have finished uni and I plan on starting back up, taking requests, and finally finishing Everybody has Demons in their Heads. Thanks to those of you who continued to read my work despite the hiatus. Iâve missed you.

40. âHave I entered an alternate universe or did youreally just crack a smile for me?âÂ
Warnings: None  Words: 837
AU- Murphy is your grumpy yet mysterious neighbour. And he thinks pretty much the same about you.
Your flat was grotty to say the very least. Â There were dark rings of damp in thebathroom, and a cold breeze occupied your bedroom from some undiscovered crevice. Â But it was yours. Â Your first ever flat. Â You werenât exactly proud of it but there wasa certain charm in the way the doors had warped over time did not quite fittheir frames. Â Sure, you had to wear twojumpers and a pair of woollen socks to sleep in comfort, but didnât all 22 yearolds whoâd just left university and were branching out on their own in a newcity? Â The seasons were at that awkwardtime when it was just transitioning from winter to spring and you could neverquite tell what the weather was going to do. Wear a raincoat and the sun is bound to shine all day and leave yousweltering. Â Leave all your rain defenceequipment at home and within minutes of closing the front door youâd be soakedthrough. Â
Today was one of those days.
From the off you had known it was going to be a bad one. Â You had woken up late and had to skipbreakfast which instantly put you in a bad mood. Â Youâd past your moody neighbour as you rusheddown the flights of stairs and he had knocked your ceramic takeaway coffee cupstraight out of your hand.
âWell good morning to you too, Johnâ
youâd huffed, as youkicked the broken shards against the wall and made a mental note to clean uplater. Â You had stepped in at least ninepuddles on the three-minute walk to the bus stop. Â Work was filled with complaining customersand a lot of holding back snide retorts. Â The seconds on your watch ticked by as if thehands were moving through thick custard. Â The bushome had been running late and your optimistically summery shoes were sodden. Â All in all, not your best one. You unlocked your buildings front door, longing for a hot shower and warm pyjamas(both of which were unlikely given the state of your current abode). Younoticed that the coffee cup mess on the floor was no longer there. Â Your heart sank at the thought of the moaningletter you would probably get from your landlord complaining about the hassleyou caused. Â You were struggling puttingthe key into your front door with your ice-cold fingers when you heard a softthroat clearing noise behind you. Â It wasJohn Murphy. Â
âUm, hiâ
he said, so quietly you barely caught it. Â He was an odd one, that John Murphy. Â He was moody and grouchy, and once you thinkheâd even snarled at you when you went to collect you mail. Â He was also lonely. Â Youâd never seen a visitor enter or leave hisflat. Â Not even a parent. Â All you knew was that he worked as a sous-chefin the evenings at a mediocre restaurant two streets away. Â You could tell he hated his job, and mostpeople at that. Â Most nights you heardhim raging to himself about the people- his boss, his colleagues, thecustomers. Â The other thing you knew wasthat he brought home scraps from the restaurant in little sandwich bags and feda stray dog that frequented the front step of the building. Â You were sure youâd even heard muffled barksfrom inside his flat. Â The landlord didnâtallow pets. Â But then John Murphy didnâtseem to play by the rules. Â
        âHi?â
Your response was questioning. Â Searching his face. Â Heâd never really spoken to you before. Â He looked uncomfortable and shifted his feeton the threadbare rug that failed to cover the rotting floorboards of thenarrow hallway. Â He had his arms held awkwardlybehind his back. Â You squinted your eyesat him curiously. Â He suddenly thrust aroughly wrapped parcel at you and looked at the floor.
        âItâs anew coffee cup.â
He was so shy and yet so blunt and it made you smile. Â You laughed a little at the thoughtfulness andterrible wrapping.
âThank you.â
He looked up at you,his eyes wide with disbelief.
âHave I entered analternate universe or did you really just crack a smile for me?â
You were taken aback.
        âMe?!â
        ââYeah, you.  You never smile.â
Your brow furrowed thinking back to all your previous encounters.
âButâŠbut I thoughtyou were the grumpy one?â
You stuttered and stared at his slowly warming face.
        âAnd I thought youhated meâ
he laughed. Â It was a full, genuine laugh that struck a chord inside you. Â Youâd never noticed how inquisitive his eyeswere, or how tall he actually was. Â Andyouâd never thought your neighbour to be kind-hearted or to have a soul-warminglaugh.
        âYou wanna come in?â
The words came out of your mouth before your brain had registered theidea. Â He blinked at you.
        âFor what?â
he asked, twisting his hands together and looking curiously at you. Â You bit your bottom lip and thought for asecond.
        âCoffee?â
A/N: i hope you liked it! Has been sooo long since Iâve written anything like this and Iâve missed it so much!! Feedback greatly appreciated x

hi! iâve been up to my eyeballs in uni work and trying to work out how not to depend on my parents and dealing with some health issues but i hope that iâll be back writing soon! i hope everyone is well and that you havenât given up on me! i have loads of prompts to be working on and i assure you that one day theyâll all be answered! xx
Yo this account is over 500 followers strong! Keep spreading the word and expect more imagines as soon as I've finished some essays for uni which could be any time. Love you long time xox
I wanna start giving my imagines and stuff cute titles what do you guys think about that? It's just it gets confusing when I have the same prompt multiple times for the same character and loads of ways I could go with the story. This way I could write for the same prompt but different things :)
I started watching the series on friday. Now it's sunday and I finished both season 1 and 2. I became a fan instantly! And your imagines helped me fall in love with Murphy. Thank you! <3
Awh that's so cute thank you! And well done for finishing the seasons so swiftly!
Iâm so sorry I havenât updated in such a long time! I started university two weeks ago and itâs been nonstop since then.  Looking at the demands of my lecturers and tutors and the intensity of my modules, it is unlikely that I will be able to post any prompts for a while, at least until my reading week.  I really am sorry but I need to make the most of university and my course does come first.  If you are looking for something of mine to read you can always check out my masterlist (only not everything is on there yet) and i did update my murphy/oc fic fairly recently.
HEYYY! Can you write an imagine ith Murphy where he gets pusnished by the Ark since he killed those people? like the part that Abby gets punished by Marcus?
okay so i have so many other requests and this one just came in and despite myself i just had to write it so here ya gojohn murphy x readerÂ
warnings: blood, beatings, general sadness
Youâd been eating lunch together when the guards approachedyour table. Â First and foremost they hadapologised to you, which you took to be an odd kind of greeting. Â It was then that two of them seized Murphy,an arm each, and hauled him to a standing position. Â
Youâd yelled out and stood abruptly but aguard pushed you back into your seat roughly. Murphy, seeing this, had struggled against his restraint, stamping attheir feet and trying to reach for you. The guards exchanged glances and then, in one fluid motion, hit Murphyâshead down onto the table with a crunch that made your throat tighten and bilerise into your mouth.
Theyâd dragged his body away from the canteen ceremoniously, his worn boots trailing behind him, his face running in hot tar-likeblood. Â His head lolled on his shouldersas he remained in his sudden sleep. Â Theboy who acted so aloof, forcibly taken- undignified, unjust.
The sun was unbearable. The ground was not earth but ashy dust, and the guard kicked this upinto a dry plume that caught in throats as they proceeded to the floggingstand. Â The sky was a clear, crystalline blue. Â Had terror not clouded your every thought inthat moment you might have looked up and admired the sheer solidness ofit. Â Solid colour. Â Not a wisp of light or dark- consistent, likea block of watercolour paint in a tin palette. Unyielding, simply perfect. Â Hadyou looked up you might have noticed its one flaw. Â Youâd seen the moon in its complete spheroid enormitymany a time; it was a marble of rock riddled with burrow-like indentations. Â It was ugly up close, grey and deformed, bruised and beaten. Â Down here, againstthe canvas of cornflower blue, a crescent of brilliant white could be deemedremarkable, magnificent even. Â But your sights were not set on remarkableflaws in the earthâs sheer sky, they were honed in on the boy whose eyes werebeginning to open again and whose mouth was twisted into a silent scream. Â
The flogging stand had seen several punishments since itsbuild. Â None were predetermined to be asunforgiving as the one about to take place. People had begun to gather around in a meek crowd. Â There was a moral greyness about the watchingof a punishment. Â Nobody wanted to seeit, nobody decided to stand under that blistering sun and watch another humanbeg for mercy. Â But their feet broughtthem there anyway and perhaps unconsciously they all eventually arrived towatch what was left of Roman sport. Â To seeanother human being suffer. Â Maybe it wasthe relief that you were not the one being tormented. Â Maybe it was your brain reminding you thiswas what would become of you if you strayed from the social path. Â Maybe it was what the people of old earthwould call âslowing down for a car crash.â It was irrelevant to your life now but that saying had always stuck inyour mind. Â The idea that humanity couldbe so sick theyâd purposely ogle at lives falling apart, at lives ending. Â âWeâre not like thatâ you used to say. Â But now you looked ahead of you, shieldingyour eyes from the white light of the sun, and saw that your people were no different- not an ounce. Â They thought theywere bigger, better, but how could you be when years spent on a space shuttlegave no leeway for change.
His wrists were strapped and his shirt was ripped at theback and a guard read aloud what heâd been charged with. âFor the deliberate and knowing murder of children of the Ark. Â For threatening allies. Â For crimes unknown to the council butreported by members of the 100.â
You finished the line in your head: Â âTo make a point. Â To show that we own you all again. Â Because we can.â
He tried to protest âthe charges were dropped- they said itwas forgivenâ but his words were drowned out by the electrical charge of thetazer. Â
He clenched his eyes shut and you hated yourself for thatmoment noting his vulnerability. Â Herarely showed it but when he did it shone like a beacon of innocence. Â He was far from that, of course, but the factthat that still resided in him after everything, his hanging, his torture- itleft you in awe. Â The first strike wasuneventful. Â He curled his lips over histeeth and bit down hard, refusing to give them a sign of weakness. Â His teeth drew blood and he swallowed it,washing down the terror with it. Â Youwatched, unblinking. Â You could not lookaway for fear of what might happen if you did.
By the fifteenth strike he was hanging by his wrists, hisfeet barely holding their own. Â Your eyesfilled with salty tears and his mouth filled with metallic blood. Â He would not scream. Â Sweat poured down his back, falling into thecuts that continuous electrocution brings. The sweat mixing with blood and falling into the scarred rivets of hisskin had the tazer baring guard fighting guilt down back into his chest. Â After all, this kid had only done what hewished his own kid had done- survived.
Murphy finally opened his eyes and the found yours, openly runningwith hot tears. Â He breathed in deeply asthe guard prepared for the next strike. He nodded at you, trying to reassure you, swallowing hard and fighting back the urge to vomit.
He screamed at thirty. Blood spilling from between his teeth, running down his chin. His lips would bear the signs of his beating almost aslong as his back. Â By forty he was unconsciousagain, and you begged them to stop. Â Hiswrists were mangled and his head hung over in such a way that the sceneresembled a crucifixion. Â They simplysaid they were ordered to carry out a full punishment. Â After fifty they unstrung him and let him lieon the bloody pedestal, under the blistering sun. His chest rose only faintlyand his limbs shook violently despite his unconscious state. Â You knelt over him in a puddle of his blood, silently crying, silently cursing everything under the sun. Â
The sky was no longer cornflower blue, but more a shade ofultramarine. Â It was not crystallineeither and the moon was not its only flaw. Shielding the earth from the delicate light of thousands of stars werethe ragged outlines of clouds. Â They hungin shades of predominately grey, and they loomed over them all threatening astorm was coming. Â They hung like themoral greyness of the departing crowd; they went back to their lives, touchedby the scene but not to their core- not really. They turned their backs to the boy who had been forgiven and the girl whohad been first to forgive. Â The boy wholay with his face to the ground, and the girl who finally looked to the starsand wept.
A/N requests are actually closed right now. Â I hope you enjoyed it..
I'm doing all requests by non-anonymous users first and then doing all the anonymous ones. I'm gonna try and update ASAP but I have 74 requests atm so it's gonna take a while to get through them all. Stay tuned though, I get mostly murphy requests so there's plenty more where he came from :) x
