Brown parents needs to stop pretending like mental health issues don’t exist when they are the core cause of them in their children.
desi men arent just allowed to be useless, theyre encouraged to stay that way. rather than giving them constructive critique and allowing them a chance at actual growth you’d rather let them stay as they are for the sake of their own comfort. the cost though, is that the women they are surrounded by are constantly made to make up for the lack of competence on his part, because someone has to take the slack.

How do we forgive our fathers? Maybe in a dream. Do we forgive our fathers for leaving us too often, or forever, when we were little? Maybe for scaring us with unexpected rage, or making us nervous because there never seemed to be any rage there at all? Do we forgive our fathers for marrying, or not marrying, our mothers? Or divorcing, or not divorcing, our mothers? And shall we forgive them for their excesses of warmth or coldness? Shall we forgive them for pushing, or leaning? For shutting doors or speaking through walls? For never speaking, or never being silent? Do we forgive our fathers in our age, or in theirs? Or in their deaths, saying it to them or not saying it. If we forgive our fathers, what is left?

you do not need to sit in a church, mosque, nor temple to talk to God. similarly, i do not need to be in your presence to make conversation with you. there is the ultimate satisfaction of knowing i have prayed for you as sincerely and as often as possible, praying you find safety, love, and the essence of life itself. i hope you learn of my prayers only through their fulfillment.

I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.
