The bad guys. Well, that was all kind of what Brick had been expecting. But he figured it might as well ask Mojo, he hated admitting it. But there were a lot of things the Ruff had never bothered learning about how the world worked.

He’d never really leave Townsville. Not so long as his brothers were here.

Still, even while Mojo was talking he’d zipped away in a blur of red to grab a pen and notepad to write down the basics.

“Yeah, uh huh, I’ll figure it out from there, Pops.”

It wasn’t any of Mojo’s business what he may or may not plan to do. Vague thoughts about this course of action had been running around his head for awhile now. How would he even get those documents? It’d be easier to have some forged, he supposed.

Could he do it himself? Probably not without practice.

“S’not a big deal, just thinkin’ about some stuff where that might be a thing.”

Mojo’s eyes narrowed.

Not only was this an odd request, but Brick seemed far too invested in the answer, actually taking notes. Which was almost laughable, given that he’d really only given the obvious answer that most laypeople would probably think of off the top of their heads. Such things would help him exist so long as he wasn’t doing anything more than staying under the radar, just trying to get away from Townsville for a while. But if he was trying to establish himself at something, it would be a different story.

“Humor me,” he said finally. “What things?”

She pushed the offending plate away from her, until it was all the way on the other side of the table. Hal would have pushed it into another zip code entirely if she could, but this would have to do. Her disgust toward anything even slightly healthy was palpable.

“If that’s the only way, then call me Irken and let Earth go down. I hear there’s other cool planets anyway.” she meant it, she would rather watch the Earth go down in healthy green flames than willingly consume them.

Another eye roll. Clearly she’d been spending too much time with HIM if she was being this dramatic about broccoli.

“Right, but I’m trying to take over the Earth. If you let the Earth go down, then I can’t do that.” He pushed the plate back across the table, closer to her than it had been initially. And just to make sure she didn’t just push it away again, he kept his hand in place. “Aren’t we friends, Hal? A friend wouldn’t crush another friend’s dreams like that.”

Pacifica grits her teeth as she actually considers it. He isn’t wrong. And if he tries to keep it too civil, someone might think something’s up. She unclenches her jaw and lets out a deep breath. “Fine. But only because if you don’t it might seem suspicious.”

Mojo grinned, surprised by how easy it was to convince her. Young love and all that. “Exactly. If he really were HIM’s disciple, it would be completely within the realm of reason that he would be injured while doing his dark master’s bidding. I’m thinking fire would be a good place to start.”

“The park, of course! Children are their primary food source. All we have to do is follow the sound of children’s screaming.” He was on Tony’s heels, a sack over his shoulder to bring back some squirrels on the very rare chance they didn’t catch a squirrel-bear. But they’d catch one. Obviously.
