Which parent they like more: She’s mostly raised by Jolene, but the reason Jolene had asked Thomas to be her sperm donor is because she thinks it was important for a father-like figure to be in her baby’s life. While they don’t all live together, Desiree never goes long without seeing her “Uncle Thomas”, who she is fully aware of being her father, once she’s old enough to understand. She loves her mom, but she definitely cherishes the time where her dad comes over and kicks the soccer ball around the backyard with her.

Job ambition: As much as she loves her mother’s movies, Desiree has always been a documentary type person, preferring the facts to the imagination, and moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

“Yeah, that’s true...not like he does everything else, at least.” Laughing, her eyes widened slightly at the question, but a small smile formed on her lips as she nodded. “We are, actually.”

“Not that I don’t want your plan A to work out, but the Hope program would be gaining a good one with you.” Hannah laughed, appreciating that they could still joke around after something so terrible had happened.

“I appreciate it, Hannah.” Laughing, Jolene felt much lighter than she had at the beginning of this conversation. “I could always double major.”

“Well Thomas is smart.” Maddie shrugged, she trusted Thomas to deal with this. “I guess when you put it that way..”

“Thomas is very smart. I wish more people recognized it.” Smiling at the girl, she nodded. “I’m okay. I promise.”

“That’s true, you’ve got charm, I’m sure he’ll believe you.” He smiled, if she was doing this to make her feel better, it worked. “Wouldn’t that be a weird way to meet my parents?” He laughed, picturing the scenario. He was tempted to just tell his father already, he was likely to get mad, but it was a small price to pay in exchange of not having to drive a fucked up car around. 

“Oh, absolutely.” Tossing her hair over her shoulder jokingly, just glad to see him smiling. “The weirdest, but I’d do it for you if it meant seeing that smile stay.”

When senior year started he expected many things, but meeting someone he liked wasn’t one of them. Now here she was, telling him she felt the same way and suddenly he wasn’t sure what to do next. “Perfect.” This had gone just as he had expected, it was going to change everything. “I’d really like that too.” He repeated, not doing much to hide how happy he was, but there was still something he needed her to know, just to make sure they wouldn’t start off on the wrong foot. “But, before we make this officially official, I need to tell you something.”

Her smile slowly dropped when he admitted to having to tell her something. Part of her thought that perhaps he’d figured it out...or maybe was just messing with her. Not that Jolene thought Brandon was capable of such, but...still. Furrowing her eyebrows, she slowly nodded. “Okay...?”

“I came up with the idea, actually.” Jolene laughed. Seeing there wasn’t a line, she nodded excitedly. “Lucky us!”

“Take a chance at getting back at the most hated girl at school~” Naomi sing songed, as she relaxed in her bikini in the dunk seating. “You know you want to.” She continues as she hums under her breath until she sees someone stop in front of her. “You gonna dunk or what?” 

Having just been the one to be dunked, Jolene shook her head, merely having stopped to glance at Naomi. “...I’m good, thanks.”

Elliot knocked over the bottles easily with the baseball he just had in his hand. The guy handed him a giant teddy bear. He chuckled as he looked down at the person next to him. “Hey, would you like this? Or I could win another one?” he asked the person standing next to him with a grin.

“Aw, Elliot. That’s so sweet.” Taking the teddy bear, Jolene hugged it to her chest. “Are you sure you don’t want it?”

Though she’d been joking, she noticed the girl did not respond that way. In fact it almost left like Liza did something wrong. Was it something she said ? It had to be. A feeling of disappointment polluted her mind, but Liza decided not to think about it. The last thing she wanted to do was contribute to Jolene’s discomfort but she was convinced that she did. She drove in silence, trying to find the words to possibly make the situation better but fell short. Looking towards the passenger seat, her mouth opened to speak but no words came out. Giving up would be so unlike Liza, therefore the blonde simply found the other’s hand and held it as she drove. Offering a comforting smiling and hopeful eyes, as if using only her features to spell out her apology, seeing as words had previously failed her. They arrived at the gardens and still Liza said nothing, but she didn’t question bringing the girl there. It was their spot, secluded from the rest of the world, where they could just, be. She let go of the other’s hand to park. Upon opening the car door she was hit with the familiar scents of the flora, bringing a small smile to her face. She walked around to the passenger’s side to meet Jolene.

Stepping out of the car, Jolene couldn’t deny that being at the gardens did make her feel better. It smelled of flowers and sunshine, the exact opposite of her mood at the moment, but just what she needed. She took a deep breath and looked at the beautiful scenery, her eyes finding Liza as her face softened. “Thank you, Liza.” She murmured, reaching out a hand for the girl.

Watching the grape intently, Liza strategically placed her mouth in it’s trajectory and it landed right on her tongue. Smiling, she held it between her teeth to show the other before chewing it down and swallowing. “You can say it, I’m awesome” she laughed then moved back to her spot next to the brunette, leaning her head on the girl’s shoulder as she pressed play. She settled so comfortably it felt as if they’d been doing it forever. Safe in their blanket fort watching movies, hanging out, eating, talking, just being. Liza followed the movie, “Lizzie McGuire the creator of bitmojis” she looked up at Jolene “do you sing into your hairbrush in the mornings ?” she smiled at the other.

Jolene clapped her hands and laughed. “I will. You’re awesome.” Tensing up as Liza leaned against her shoulder, Jolene forced herself to relax and settled next to her, keeping her eyes on the screen. “...I never thought about that. Lizzie McGuire did create bitmoji’s...” She grinned wildly, allowing herself to look down at Liza, looking embarrassed. “How’d you know?” She teased.

“I honestly wouldn’t know” she confided in the other, climbing towards the top of jolene’s bed to lay against the pillows “she has this thing where she doesn’t talk about her feelings, i never really know what she’s thinking in those situations” she paused “well, until she decides to ignore me and disappear somewhere. That’s when I know she’s upset.” She looked at the other, “it’s a little frustrating, but one of the kisses did happen in front of her, though maybe she didn’t realize it was me at the time.” Liza shrugged “I don’t know” she sighed. “But hey, I think this is the first time I’ve brought Avery up” she shook her head “sorry about that, there was just so much going on, didn’t even tell Karma until the night of the fire. You and Karma are actually the only two people I’ve personally told. So anyway gorgeous, what are your plans for the day ? ” 

Jolene hadn’t meant to start anything...but hearing Liza speak, it was clear the girl needed someone to talk to, and being her friend, Jolene knew that she needed to be that someone. Settling next to Liza, she nodded her head, wanting her to know that she heard her and was listening. Offering a little smile at the apology, Jolene brushed it off. “It’s okay. You don’t have any obligations to tell me.” Besides, any time it was brought up, a weird feeling formed in the pit of her stomach. “It just sounds like Avery’s a little insecure...understandably. High school is a very hard and confusing time for everyone...but it’s only because she really likes you...and having someone else kiss your girlfriend? It can’t feel nice.” Tucking some hair behind her ear, Jolene shook her head. “Nothing, really. What about you?”

Penelope looked up at the giant Ferris wheel that stood in front of her. Her lip turning upward into a giant smile. “We should totally go on?” she mused excitedly glancing back over to the person beside her.

“I have to be at the dunk tank in thirty...which should give us just enough time.” Grinning brightly, Jolene nodded. “Let’s go.”

“Yeah, try explaining that to him.” He complained, before half hugging her back.

“I will. I’ll go right up to him and say, Mr. Richmond, Brandon had absolutely nothing to do with the destruction of his car, and is just as, if not more, upset than you are about it. And he’ll be like you’re right, Jolene, I am so sorry for being so hard on my son, and then he’ll help fix your car and all will be okay again.” She was joking, of course, but just trying to get him to smile.
