is this a renaissance painting?
āInterrogation of the Zodiac Killerā -The Ghost of Sandro Botticelli ca 2015
So I slapped some mathematics on this picture andā¦
The red lines divide the picture into thirds. They also mostly coincide with the doorway (and Cruzās right hand), framing him nicely as the Main Character of this picture.
The green line was placed using the golden ratio (the ratio between parts of the picture above it and below it is close enough to 1:1.618). It also goes right under his chin (and through some reportersā hands or tools).
The purple lines are diagonals that are framing the reporters really nicely.
Iām pretty sure you could also do something clever with a circle and the yellow doorway behind him, but I donāt have the patience to fiddle with that.
Basically, this picture has the same āmaths are beautifulā aesthetic as (some well-known) Renaissance paintings.
It also means a photographer did a DAMN GOOD job taking it

@pregnantseinfeld informed me that I was in a Buzzfeed article (with @creamynut and @bootyscientist2) a few months ago and had no idea.
Turns out that Buzzfeed just embeds Tumblr posts.
So if they take a post youāre in and say, embed it from your blog:
You can go back to the post and edit it to whatever you want and it will appear in the article like that. So you can do things like add āpay me royaltiesā 100 times
and upload 10 pictures of Waluigi in the T Pose
And ruin the article formatting.

Step one is learning how to talk like a human person.

just a reminder:
a black girl character growing her hair out long breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character having short hair
a black girl character getting to be soft and fragile breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character being strong all the time
a black girl character being protected and comforted by others breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character having no one to look out for her but herself
a black girl character being considered pretty or cute by other characters breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character being considered unattractive
not everything that is empowering for white girls is empowering for black girls

I did my masterās thesis on emergency contraception and I used gender-neutral language throughout. Most people didnāt notice. My supervisor occasionallyĀ asked me to use the wordĀ āwomenā instead of the word āpeopleā but didnāt care enough to follow up when I ignored him. None of the people who reviewed and marked my thesis made any comment on the language I chose to use.
Using gender-neutral language was easy and I suffered no consequences for doing so as an academic, even when writing a detailed thesis on human reproductive biology.

it took me a moment to realize what was going on with their hands. Drift compatible indeed!
What people think perfectionism is: Iām going to do this 1,000 times until itās completely perfect, and it doesnāt matter how tired I am or how many times I fail. Everything I do is super precise and I have absolute confidence but also am super pedantic about getting it right.
What perfectionism actually is: If I donāt get this right on the first try Iām going to cry in a corner and call myself a failure for the rest of my life. Iāve gotten nothing productive done because of this.
