Plus63’s designers, Jo and Rax, are currently in Cagayan de Oro for 1 week to help facilitate a workshop with Japan Foundation on Disaster Preparedness.
"The objective of the workshop is to develop a program that can help the children of CDO prepare better in the event of a calamity. We (Plus63) were tapped by Japan Foundation to help them brand the program as a whole."
–Jo and Rax
Designer Jo Malinis is no one-trick pony: a quick glance at her Tumblr blog, and you'll see great work across illustration, identity, layout, and app
Thank you for the feature, Melanie! :)
Punchdrunk Panda is a Filipino retail graphic design brand that aims to rid the world of the bland and the boring by funkifying the world in collaboration with like-minded creatives through functional graphic-designed products. We love creating unique and awesomely Pinoy-made products that...
I designed some camera straps for Punchdrunk Panda along with the other Plus63 artists. Check it out!
Adobo Design Awards
Yey! Congrats to the team for winning metals at the Adobo Design Awards 2014. It’s the first time we submitted works for an awards show. This year’s jury was tough, so we wanted to see how our works will fare. Part of this year’s jury was Lucille Tenazas (Head Jury), Kenneth Cobonpue, Armand Serrano among others.
All the works we submitted got metals:. :) Yey! Best of Show: Kindred Gold: Kindred (Websites & Apps) Silver: Back Alley Barbershop (Single Logo) Bronze: Your Local (Applied Logo) Bronze: Design Co.Mission (Packaging) —- Disclosure: Dan Matutina was also part of the jury. Like all award shows, he abstained and stepped out of the room when the studio’s work was up for voting.
I am so proud to be a part of this. Congrats to us, Plus63! :)
PEOPLE’S BUDGET 2014 We worked with the communications and design team of DBM (Department of Budget and Management) for this years People’s Budget. It was really nice working with them as they were very open to our ideas and design direction.
From DBM: "For the past months, the national Budget has been pushed to the forefront of the Filipino’s collective consciousness. But really, how does the national government allocate each and every centavo from our taxpayers? In the latest version of the People’s Budget, we illustrate the steps in creating and implementing the national Budget every year. ” Download the 2014 People’s Budget at:http://bit.ly/pbudget2014 Design Team: Dan Matutina, Joanna Malinis & Raxenne Maniquiz
Usability is not everything. If usability engineers designed a nightclub, it would be clean, quiet, brightly lit, with lots of places to sit down, plenty of bartenders, menus written in 18-point sans-serif, and easy-to-find bathrooms. But nobody would be there. They would all be down the street at Coyote Ugly pouring beer on each other.

Kindred (kindredapp.net)
At the Design Co.Mission (an event our studio organized), we presented Kindred, a solution for blood donation in time of need. It was well received by the attendees and also by the Undersecretary of the Department of Health. The web app is still currently in beta. If we have the time and money, we will add more features.
We collaborated with the guys of Nadarei for the development of the site. :)

I helped design some of the pages for Kindred, a blood donation web app, last year. The app was presented at the Design Co.Mission event.
Ito Kish Catalogue
Ito Kish commissioned the studio to design his catalogue for the MAISON & OBJET PARIS this coming Sept 6-10, 2013. :)
We love the printing and the paper! Printing by Velprint.
Good job Team! Wohoo!
Last year, I worked on the layout for Ito Kish's catalogue that was used for the Maison & Object Paris exhibit last September 2013.
This is a Plus63 Design Co. project.
Ito Kish & Schema
The studio recently did the brand identity design & catalogue of Schema (a lighting and home decor company) and the catalogue of Ito Kish (a furniture designer) for the Maison & Objet Paris this September. :) We’re so honored to work with talented and world-class Filipino design brands. Yey!
We’re going to shoot photos of the stuff for our folio soon.
Go team! :)
Here are some of the things that I worked on in the studio. :)
I think it’s very important for young designers to do two things. One: spend the first one to five years learning how to design and present design from somebody who is terrific at it. Having that basic understanding will carry you through the rest of their career. The second is this: develop the ability to explain, defend, and promote your work. Those are the two most important things.

I think graphic design is an important profession because it’s part of what we put out into the world, and it’s what people see and perceive. It’s not just about doing design for the “public good.” The design community currently thinks that if you design something to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, then that’s good, but if you design something for a bank, then that’s bad. I disagree. I think all design matters and all design deserves to be intelligent.

Here are some of the characters that I've worked with (so far).
Finished my first set! Yay!
Here is my take on Tiffany Ford's #Daily Color Block tag. Say hello to 4 weeks worth of outfit illustrations that I started working on mid May --which was probably Manila's hottest month (hence the minis). Come mid June, the rain began pouring like crazy, so I ditched all the short and flat stuff and switched to wearing pants and boots.
Hi there, my name is Jo Malinis. I am a 20 something graphic designer and illustrator from Manila. I go by the name aniciaclean on Twitter and (my other) Tumblr.
I usually just dump and reblog random things on my other Tumblr, so I made this one to serve as my personal blog. I don't really blog blog because I know that I don't write well (haha), but I will try to update this one with posts of my personal work and inspirations.
