@jongjin-drifter
Endings & Beginnings || self-para (ish)
âI think youâre going to have to start complaining that I spend too much time in your lap. I donât have a reason to let you go, so you may find me between your legs more often than not.â He had always leaned towards the clingy side, worrying about emotional attachment being the only form of self control for touch. Now, he didnât have to pretend at all. His heart was so filled with emotion, he felt ready to burst. Never before had he felt the amount of affection he did now, nor knew how to express it. However, it didnât matter how he expressed it anymore. He could stay in Jongjinâs arms and press each of his feelings in kisses on the olderâs skin. Everything was alright now.
Hamin laughed under his breath. âYou donât have to worry about that,â he said, pressing a kiss to Jongjinâs forehead. âI may be better suited to deal with whateverâs thrown at me than you think.â There was no potential flaw that would bother Hamin. If anything, he was aching to know, to see and feel it all. Maybe there werenât many of his own bad sides Jongjin hadnât seen, but Hamin wanted to know everything about his lover. âI always said that once Iâve made up my mind about someone, nothing can shake it. Perhaps that just means Iâm too stubborn, but it takes a hell of a lot to change my mind.â To be honest, it usually took a lot to change even when his mind wasnât fully made up. âIâve certainly made my mind up about you.â
He didnât mind couches as much as he pretended to. âI wonât complain about being in your bed. I donât care if weâre on your floor if youâre with me.â It felt like a massive imbalance in his life had suddenly been tilted. The tables were turned so suddenly, but the sudden change made his head spin. It didnât feel like he expected, not that he expected much of anything to begin with. One thing he knew was that wished he could show all of this to his younger selfâ to the seventeen year old reeling in Jongjinâs, a strangerâs arms. To the younger Hamin falling in love for the first time, standing in a convenience store with ramen soaking his shoes.. That it would be alright. How much he would have needed to feel this happiness now. Maybe he would have looked forward to the future, made it easier to not give up.
However, even in the face of all of this, he still felt like himself. It was disappointing to kiss Jongjin and still be worried that he had little time left. This moment felt like the climax of a movie, but he was pulling backwards instead of towards his happy ending. He knew he was frowning and he wished he wasnât. âI know that what I do bothers you..â he started slowly. Jongjinâs hand was reassuring. Hamin had always been grateful for Jongjinâs support, but he knew it came from a host conflicted at best. âItâs going to be hard for me to agree to anything, to try to change anything, but I want to make sure I do try.â He hadnât wanted to talk technicalities. There was monogamy to talk about, and if they had an open relationship, whether they were terms. Hamin knew Jongjin liked some things he wasnât going to be able to provide, but that was different than Haminâs career. âFor a start, what do you dislike more? Me being in the mafia or me being a prostitute? I donât know exactly what to promise, but I need to know what you want me to do.â
Hamin settled in Jongjinâs lap. âThatâs why I was hesitant to start talking about it. Iâm sorry.â He rested his forehead against Jongjinâs, tracing his jawline with slightly cold fingers before settling his hands at the nape of Jongjinâs neck. âIâm not the easiest to love either, in fact I may be among the most difficult.â Haminâs smile was wistful. Whether he had always been this way or gotten worse as he grew older, no one knew. He certainly didnât feel much better. âBut I know one thing, and thatâs that I love you.â His eyes warmed, curving as he took a breath. âI love you, and my life would be so empty if you werenât with me.â At least that was a start. The future seemed brighter by the second.
âIs this my Jongjin, suddenly shy?â Hamin burst into soft laughter. How many men and women had pied to kick between the sheets with his little heartbreaker. How soft and sweet it was to know Jongjin cared about his pleasure. âYou must underestimate how many shitty people Iâve fucked in my life.â His words slurred a tiny bit with sleep and alcohol. Even still, his smile was heartfelt. âYou could take me apart without trying. Itâs always been that way.â
âAs if I would ever complain about that.â He almost said something about how there didnât seem a better place for Hamin to be than between his legs, but he kept that to himself. âI am sure you can deal with a lot of things that are being thrown at you, but stillâŠhow can you have already made up your mind about me? I mean, you donât mind that your boyfriend is completely corrupted and bad?â He was saying that, but he was mostly just teasing Hamin. Jongjin wasnât ashamed of his life at all. He was at peace with all the decisions he had made and he was completely accepting of what he was and what he had become over the years. He was aware of his bad sides, but he was also aware of his good ones and he knew that he could be a great boyfriend. He might not be really experienced in that department, but he was willing to do this best.
âIt should be like that too,â he agreed. Nothing mattered as long as they were together. Thatâs what he was thinking, but he didnât say it aloud because it was a bit too embarrassing. He already felt like he had embarrassed himself enough as it was. He had been talking so much and saying such mushy thingsâŠ.He wasnât used to it.
Ah, so this was what had been on Haminâs mind. He saw his boyfriendâŠ.boyfriendâŠit was so strange to finally able to call Hamin that. He saw Hamin frown and he reached out to gently run his finger between Haminâs eyebrows so he would stop frowning. âYou know itâs terribly hard for me to answer that,â he said after the other had asked him all his questions. âOf course I donât like you being in the mafia, but when I met you, I thought that if you were working under our watch, youâd probably be safer than you were at the time. Itâs not an easy thing, being a prostitute and all, itâs dangerousâŠ.but then, so is being part of the mafia.â He sighed and briefly let his eyes flutter close. Who was he to tell Hamin what to do or not do? After about a minute, he reopened his eyes and rested his hands at Haminâs waist. âI donât want to tell you what you should or shouldnât do, but since you asked for my opinionâŠ.I think I dislike you being a prostitute more than I dislike you being part of the mafia. Donât get me wrong, if it was just from me, you wouldnât be part of either butâŠâ He stopped and shook his head.
âItâs not the fact that you have to sleep with other people that bothers me. I mean, Iâve done the same thing for a long time too after all. What bothers me most about that is that Iâm constantly worried something bad will happen to you. Like I just said, youâre a bit more protected now since youâre working for the mafia, but that doesnât mean something bad couldnât happen to you and I justâŠ.I donât want you to break.â Hamin was strong and there was no way Jongjin could deny that. His boyfriend had gone through so much shit and yet, he was still here. That was enough to show how strong he could be. But despite that strength, Jongjin also knew there were fragile parts to Hamin, just like there were fragile parts of himself that he was hiding behind a mask. Heâd hate for those more delicate parts to shatter.
âHey, you donât have to apologize for wanting to talk about that. I know I donât speak a lot about these kind of things butâŠyouâre right, itâs kind of important so weâre at least on the same page about things.â Haminâs cold fingers felt nice against his skin and Jongjin found himself humming softly. âYou think? Personally I think itâs very easy to love you.â Maybe too easy. Why had Jongjin made things so difficult for so many years when everything was indeed so simple? There had been something, a connection between them since their very first encounter. Of course back then it couldnât have been qualified as love, but there had still been something. Then during all those years, this desire to protectâŠ.It had taken him so long to figure out whether it was just that, a desire to protect someone you care about or if it stemmed from something else, something bigger. He loved Hamin. He wouldnât be here like this if he didnât.
âWell, maybe your Jongjin is a bit overwhelmed right now soâŠplease excuse him,â he replied with a smile before running his fingers through Haminâs hair again. âThen Iâll have to make sure you never have to experience shitty sex ever again from now on,â he hummed low and pressed a kiss to Haminâs lips before carefully moving so he could get off the couch. He stood up and stretched before offering his hand to Hamin. âHow about we go to bed now?â
This is like a year late most probably, but it is finally here, I shall now present you with the 17 pages long character development thing I answered for this guy. -falls over-
Full name: Won Jong Jin (ìą ì§ ì)
Name origin: Â something about bells and truth and I don't even know tbh.
Nickname, if any (if so, explain its origin): J or Jay, usually used by the other members of the mafia clan he belongs to.
Does s/he like the nickname?: He doesn't mind it. It allows him to put a certain distance between his personal life and the mafia world.
Birth date: March 1st, 1985
Place of birth: Tokyo, Japan
Ethnic background: Japanese mother and Korean father.
Religion: none
Degree of religious practice (e.g. orthodox, casual, lapsed): He's an apatheist.
Current address: Â Somewhere in Myeong-dong
Does s/he rent or own? : used to rent, now owns.
Brief description of home (apartment, house, etc.): Â He lives in a relatively old apartment, but it is still very spacious considering the neighborhood he lives in. The floors creak when he walks and the living room, dining area and kitchen form one big open space. There are a few windows that let the sun in and he has a large bathroom with a bathtub and a separate shower. His bedroom has a walk-in closet.
Does s/he live with anyone? : He lives alone.
Is this his/her ideal home and location? If not, what would s/he prefer?: He wouldn't call it ideal but it's home. Over the years, his apartment was able to provide him with many memories to cherish and that's why he hasn't been able to sell it and move somewhere else. Besides, he loves his neighborhood. He's surrounded by clothing stores and he thinks that's great. Recently though, heâs started to consider moving somewhere else.
Home decor (choose one): Expensive | Inexpensive | Carefully planned |Comfortable | Neat |Cluttered
Does s/he drive? Own a car? (Make, model, color, age, etc.): Â He does drive and owns a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. It is black with some parts of the interior red. You can see a picture HERE. He also owns a motorcycle. It's a matte black Kawasaki ninja.
Pets? (If so, what kind/how many/names?): none. He used to have a dog though, and he often thinks about whether he should get a new one or not.
Current occupation (include length of time, location, job title): He's a hitman of sort. Sometimes he gets asked to make people talk and that usually can be done by using any means he might think of. Other times, it is simply asked of him to make some people disappear which he does without any complaints or questions. He also sometimes still dab in escort work.
Job satisfaction (happy, discontent, ambivalent, ambitious...): He's definitely happy where he is, but that doesn't mean he's content with the idea of staying there for the rest of his life. He's quite ambitious so he always looks for an opportunity to climb some more ranks within the organisation.
Income: It increased each time he proved that he could handle the tasks that had been thrown at him. He's been with the organisation for about 14 years now so his salary is relatively high.
Sexuality : He prefers men but isn't repulsed by women. He sometimes had to have sex with women in the past and he didn't particularly hate it. It's just that the sex didn't feel as satisfying as when he was paired with another man.
Marital status: In a relationship.
If married or currently romantically involved, with whom, and for how long?: Heâs not married, but heâs officially going out with Hamin since the New Year.
List any significant previous romantic partners: He wouldn't call him a romantic partner but there was Taejun. There was also Kyeul.
For current spouse/partner, what does the character call him/her (pet names, nicknames, etc.)?: N/A
How did they meet?: They met at some important event. Jongjin was escorting one of his favorite client and happened to meet Hamin there.
Any children (include names, ages, other parent if different from any current partner): He doesn't want children.
Describe his/her relationship with children (if any)?: He's terrible with children. He doesn't know what to do with them. Unfortunately, most of them seem to like him and tend to stick to his legs or want to go near him much to his chagrin.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Height/Weight: Â 181 cm / 64kg
Body type (thin, athletic, overweight, curvy, muscular, etc.): Heâs not too thin, relatively toned, definitely got some muscles but nothing overly apparent other than his six-pack.
Eye color: dark brown, almost black
Need glasses/contacts/hearing aid?: He used to wear glasses when he was a kid but eventually got laser eye surgery.
Skin tone: pale
Face shape: oval (at least thatâs what it looks like to me, but what do I know about face shapes OTL)
Any prominent features, freckles/moles/scars/tattoos or other distinguishing marks: Dragon tattooed on right shoulder and both ears are pierced. He has a couple of scars but minor ones that arenât really visible unless you look closely.
Whom does s/he most look like (e.g. famous person or relative)?: He and his brother both take after their father. They also have some characteristics of their mother, mostly in terms of personality though.
General health (good, excellent, poor...)?: His health is relatively good. It has to be for the kind of work he does, but that being said, it could definitely be better. While he does try to eat healthy and frequents the gym and/or exercises on a daily basis, he still smokes a lot.
Any current health problems or chronic conditions?: his right knee has been weak ever since an accident he had when he was younger so sometimes it dislocates. When he goes running, or do any kind of training where he has to use his legs, he has to wear a knee brace.
How does s/he dress?: (see below)
Price: Â Expensive |Average (though he will sometimes either splurge on something or buy another that's ridiculously cheap) |Inexpensive |Cheap
Style: Haute Couture | Conservative |Trendy |Eclectic |Business |Sexy |Gaudy |Casual |Sloppy
Why does s/he dress in the above manner (e.g. to be noticed)? : Mostly because that's what is the most comfortable to him. He enjoys wearing just a simple pair of jeans with a loose t-shirt (for example). Although his style changes when it is time for him to work. Then he will usually get the suits out and look more professional.
Any special jewelry? (If so, why is it special?) What about accessories?: He doesnât own any special piece of jewelry, like a ring that would have been passed down from his grandmother or anything like that. He loves wearing watches though and tends to like them even more if they are almost as big as his wrist. He also loves wearing bracelets and it doesnât matter if theyâre beaded, made of leather or metal. Sometimes he will wear rings, but thatâs rare. He also has quite a nice collection of cuff links.
Grooming: Fastidious/Very neat |Average |Clean but scruffy |Dirty/Unkempt
Describe hairstyle (long, short, crewcut, locs, bangs, side-part etc.): somewhat short but with long bangs that fall over his eyes.
Natural hair texture (smooth, wavy, curly, etc.): Â it curls a little when his hair is wet and left to dry on its own or when it's too humid outside.
Current hair texture (if different): same as above
Natural hair color: Black
Current hair color (if different): Still black
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION:
Pace of speech (fast, average, slow?): Average though itâs leaning more toward the fast side.
Voice tone (shrill, high, average, deep, squeaky, hoarse, harsh, authoritative, cultured, etc.): Itâs slightly high which doesnât match his looks at all. It even has a slight lilt to it. Thatâs his usual tone, but of course when he works and needs to be taken seriously, his tone will become a bit deeper as well as harsh and authoritative.
Accent/dialect, if any: He doesnât think he has one, but if he was to travel to Busan or something, people from there would probably say he has a Seoul dialect.
Any favorite/habitual words/phrases? Curse words?: No favorites, just the usual curse words.
Describe general vocabulary or speech pattern (e.g. educated, precise, pretentious, average, uneducated, vulgarâŠ): It depends on the situation. When he is with educated people, he will get the fancy vocabulary out, but when he has to deal with gangs or people like that, he will adjust to match the way they speak so itâs easier to do business.
Mannerisms/demeanor?:
Cool/confident | Volatile | Nervous/shy | Aggressive (usually at work)| Friendly | Remote | Other (describe)
Typical posture:
Stiff | Stands straight but not stiffly | Average, varies with mood | Slumped/defeated | Slouchy, careless | Relaxed | Other (describe)
Gestures: Rarely | Controlled | When excited | Most of the time | Wildly/oddly | Other (describe)
Common/habitual gestures (e.g. nail-biting, hair patting, drumming fingers, clenched fists, hands in pockets, etc.): He runs his tongue over his bottom lip quite often and when heâs sitting at a table in a restaurant, he tends to put his elbow on the table (even though he knows thatâs not polite) and he will rest his chin (or his cheek) in the palm of his hand. He also does not give a fuck about grabbing his junk to replace it while in public.
EVERYDAY BEHAVIOR / HABITS:
Finances: His income stems from criminal activities and it doesnât bother him at all. He likes to splurge on things once in a while because he feels like he deserves to have nice things after doing dirty work. He doesnât however throw his money out of the windows. He remains relatively cautious with his spending and makes sure he has enough set aside in case of an emergency.
Personal Habits (Smoking, Drinking, Drugs, Gambling, etc.? Are any of these addictions?): He smokes on a daily basis although he doesnât go through a pack a day. He usually has three cigarettes per day, sometimes more if he is stressed. He used to do drugs in the past but doesnât buy any anymore. However, if heâs out in a club and someone offers him something, he will sometimes say yes, depending on his mood. He doesnât drink as much as he used to. He prefers to stick to red wine now, which he has once in a while and sometimes soju or cognac but thatâs about it. He doesnât gamble, but he likes watching others lose their money. He wouldnât consider any of these addictions, not even his cigarettes.
Morning Routine: Jongjin is a night owl so he really hates having to wake up early. If he is the one who set up his alarm clock, then he will usually hit the snooze button a couple of times before dragging himself out of bed and heading straight for a shower in hopes that it will help him wake up. If he is being woken up by a phone call, the doorbell, or someone else, he will usually grumble, bury himself further into his bed sheets and pillows and then will start swearing like a sailor if the noise doesnât stop. Once he is awake, he will not be pleasant until he has some coffee in his system. While he waits for his coffee to be ready, he likes checking the news on TV and on his tablet.
Afternoon/Workday: He works outside his home and usually goes to work with his motorcycle when the weather allows it. Sometimes he will take his car but not too often because itâs a bit flashy. Instead, he takes public transportation to go mostly unnoticed. A typical work day usually includes having to do some paperwork and then he gets contracts handed out to him and heâs left deciding what method heâs going to use to get the job done. Sometimes he has to leave headquarters in order to get rid of someone, other times he simply has to go to the lower floors were there are cells. There, he does all the interrogating he needs to do and then disposes of the person if heâs been asked to do so. There are also times when he is asked to do escort work. When that happens, thatâs usually later in the day though.
Dinner: He usually eats alone at home. Heâs the one who cooks since he lives alone but he thinks that if he was in a relationship, heâd probably still be the one cooking. He actually enjoys cooking. As for favorite restaurants, he loves those street food stalls where you can just sit down, order some spicy rice cake and drink soju to your heartâs content. He also enjoys, on the completely opposite sides, pricy restaurants with fancy food. He doesnât go to those often though since he doesnât think it would be fun to go alone.
Evening: He doesnât really have a typical kind of evening as it tends to completely change from one day to the next. There are times when he is out doing escort work although thatâs been rare (almost inexistent) lately. Sometimes he stays late at the headquarters so he can finish his paperwork or whatever it is that he needs to finish (interrogation, murder, etc.) His ideal evening though is when he gets to sit on his couch, wrapped up in a blanket with a glass of red wine in hand and an old movie playing on TV. That, or getting laid.
Sleep Habits: He falls asleep relatively easily and the fastest way to lull him to sleep is to either play with his hair or have sex with him until heâs too exhausted and satisfied to move any further. While it is easy for him to fall asleep though, his nights are usually anything but peaceful. He often has nightmares and tends to startle/jolt awake when they get particularly bad. That said, he is not a light sleeper which is a terrible thing considering his line of work. Someone could easily get in his apartment to kill him and he wouldnât hear them. He often toss and turn and tends to push the bed sheets off of him because he gets too hot during the night.
Any special talents? Skills?: He can knot a cherry stem with his tongue. Heâs good at flipping omelettes/pancakes in a pan without breaking them. He knows multiple knots and is quite good at tying stuff. Heâs relatively good at pulling magic tricks with cards. He can make the difference between an imitation (of a product) and the real deal.
What is s/he particularly unskilled at?: Mostly everything that has to do with expressing his thoughts/feelings. Itâs okay when theyâre not too important, or unrelated to himself, but as soon as they get more personal, he closes up like a clam. He is also bad at keeping in touch with friends/family.
Any hobbies (sports, games, arts, collecting, etc.)?: He enjoys running and playing basketball. He doesnât collect anything though there has been an increasing amount of wine corks piling up in a bowl on his kitchen counter. While he doesnât look like your typical bookworm, he loves reading. His favorite novels are usually thrillers or sci-fi. He also likes playing guitar.
FAMILY OF ORIGIN:
Mother's name (include maiden name if known/applicable): Nakano Ayako
Current status: [x] living [_] deceased (If alive, enter age: 54 )
Motherâs occupation, if any: Archeologist who is also a teacher at Seoul University.
Describe the motherâs relationship with character: She loves her sons dearly, but truth is that as soon as they were old enough to go to school, she stopped spending a lot of time with them. Before she even got married, she had told her boyfriend that she would never give up her career to turn into a stay-at-home mother and housewife. So in the beginning, when the boys were still young, there were periods of time when she got the opportunity to be send abroad to work on archeologic sites and she never turned down those opportunities. When she started teaching, she was at home more often but by then, the boys were already teenagers and there wasnât much she could do for them. She was the one to teach Jongjin the basics in the kitchen so he wouldnât starve to death once heâd be on his own. She lets Jongjin live his own life and rarely calls him. She usually only calls if something important came up or when thereâs a holiday coming up and she wants to know if he will come visit.
Fatherâs name: Won Jong-il
Current status: [x] living [_] deceased (If alive, enter age: 59 )
Fatherâs occupation, if any: Owns a recording studio and is a famous music producer.
Describe the fatherâs relationship with character: Just like his wife, he loves his sons dearly, but his passion for music occupies a bigger place in his life. That being said, when the boys were younger, he spent a lot of time with them because he felt incredibly lucky to have not one, but two sons. He took them to see baseball games and taught them how to ride a bike. He also thought them how to play guitar and other instruments. Since his wife wasnât always around, he was mostly the one left with the responsibility to raise them so he was a bit severe with them at times. It wasnât always easy, but he never hit them or anything like that, though he did squeeze their arms a bit hard when they would not listen to him. Heâs most proud of Jongjinâs brother and Jongjin knows that, accepts it. His father rarely asks him questions about his life and that suits Jongjin just fine.
Any step-parents, foster parents, or birth parents (if not same as above): N/A
Sibling(s) (include age and birth order relative to main character): He has a twin brother named Seong-jin, who actually came out of the womb five minutes before Jongjin, making him the older one of the two.
Relationship(s) with character: They used to be really close. They would do literally everything together until they got to high school. Then, they started hanging with different crowds and soon, they stopped spending time together completely. They have a lot of things in common though. They both arenât good at expressing their feelings, they both love sex a bit too much and have a bit of a bad boy side. Seong-jin is the singer/guitarist of an indie-rock band. The bandâs doing quite well, enough so that Seong-jin doesnât have to live in the streets. Not that Jongjin would let him if it ever came to that. They recently started talking a bit more, though they have yet to meet more than once a year for Chuseok.
Nieces/Nephews: He has one niece, Won Hye-jin, who is five years old.
In-Laws, if any: N/A
Other than the above, who else in the story is part of his/her extended family (e.g. cousins, etc.)?: N/A
THE PAST:
Home town (if different from current home): Seoul. Thatâs where he lives now, but I wrote it anyway because thatâs not where he was born.
Was his/her childhood happy? Troubled? Dull? Does the character remember it accurately?: He doesnât remember much about his childhood. Sometimes memories will randomly pop up when he least expects it, but if someone was to ask him about his childhood, he probably wouldnât know what to say. He does get a bit nostalgic sometimes, when he comes across a particular smell, or sees something that he used to love when he was younger. He mostly just remembers watching cartoons and playing outside with his brother.
Earliest memory: There is one thing he does remember and that he never talked about to anyone, not even his brother. He was probably around 8 years old and his mother had been away on one of her archeologic trip somewhere in Egypt, who knows. Anyway, he woke up during the night and it could have still been early but felt like the middle of it⊠So he woke up and tip-toed out of his bedroom and toward the kitchen so he could pour himself a glass of water before going back to sleep. He was just about to step into the room when he noticed there was already someone leaning against the counter, a glass of milk in their hands. That person was not his father. It wasnât his mother or his brother. It was, however, a young man, perhaps just recently turned an adult, wearing only a pair of boxers. Jongjin stared at him, and it didnât take long for the young man to notice him. When he did, he nearly choked on his milk and straightened up. He then slowly set his glass down on the counter and turned to face Jongjin. Then he brought his finger to his lips, silently asking Jongjin to remain silent before offering a bright smile and walking past him, stopping long enough to ruffle Jongjinâs hair before disappearing down the hallway. Jongjin never got his glass of water, instead he hurried back to his bedroom and hid under his blankets.
Happiest memory: from when he was a kid? Probably meeting Taejun, and going to an amusement park. Itâs hard to pinpoint only one. He was a rather happy kid and used to get excited about pretty much anything.
Saddest memory: stealing money from his motherâs wallet and being caught. She was so terribly disappointed in him and of course she was angry but it was the fact that she didnât trust him anymore that probably ended up hurting him the most. He regretted his actions of course. It had been for such a stupid thing at the time too.
How much school did s/he attend, if any? Did/does s/he like school? Why or why not?: He has his high school diploma and thatâs it. At least thatâs the only official document he has. Heâs been taking a bunch of different online classes at university since then, trying to find something that interests him in between doing escort work and mafia jobs. He used to love school, when he was in elementary, but once he entered high school and became aware of the cliques, the gimmicks and all that bullshit that comes with your teenage years, he started hating it, or rather he hated the atmosphere. Heâs always loved learning new things though.
Most significant childhood event: Once, his twin brother got very sick and since what he had was contagious, Jongjin had to be sent to live with his grandparents (on his fatherâs side) and he ended up crying almost the entire time he was there because he was afraid that his brother was going to die. He kept wailing that his brother needed him and he was so distressed that he didnât want to eat. As soon as he was allowed to go back home, the first thing he did was to run to his brother and cling to him for an entire day while telling him he was sorry for not having been there with him. However, Jongjin does not remember any of this.
Other significant childhood events: Having a sleepover at his elementary school when he was 8 years old, winning a spelling bee competition, going to Tokyo Disneyland.
Significant past jobs: He used to be a delivery boy for some Chinese restaurant back when he was like, 15, but it didnât take long for him to start doing some jobs for this one gang that used to hang around his high school. He started selling drugs and eventually climbed up the ladder
Police record (explain any convictions, sentence served, where/when): heâs been arrested a couple of times for public fighting and speed tickets. He never spent time in jail though he did spend one night at the police station once. The police knows he used to sell drugs though and they also know that he is an escort. Well, not everyone knows, but he has important contacts there which is why his most serious offenses have never appeared on his record.
First crush/romantic love?: His first crush was actually a girl. Her name was Eun Hye and she used to terrorize the boys back when they were in 6th grade. She wasnât afraid to dirty her clothes, scratch her knees, etc. She was quite brave and made it a mission to protect all the weaker girls from the boys. She still got along well with the boys though. She didnât change much during the first year of high school, but by the beginning of the next school year, she had completely transformed herself and Jongjin didnât recognize her anymore. He stopped paying attention to her from that moment on.
His first romantic love simply doesnât exist. Jongjinâs never really attempted romance until this year, at almost 30 years old.
What was his/her first sexual experience? Is it a positive or negative memory?: Rumors started to spread about him during his third year of high school and he used to ignore them at first, but then he decided that maybe he should just give some ground to those rumors so the next time some guy made fun of him, trying to get a rise out of him by saying that Jongjin liked sucking dicks etc, Jongjin smirked at him and responded nonchalantly. The next day, he was giving the guy a blowjob in the locker room. It isnât exactly the best awakening to sexuality one could have, but instead of disgusting Jongjin, it had the opposite effect. He found that he actually loved having dicks in his mouth and so things went from there. As for the first time he had sex, he refuses to talk about it. Itâs a very negative memory. Despite it being bad though, it didnât diminish his love for sex. Soon after losing his virginity, he found another guy to have sex with, just so he could forget about his first time and maybe, in a sense, heâs been trying to forget every time to this day.
Major illnesses, accidents or traumas? How is s/he still affected, if at all?: No major illnesses. He was involved in an accident when he was younger and because of it, one of his knee is weaker (as I mentioned somewhere earlier). The only trauma he has and that still gives him nightmares is linked to the time he lost his virginity and he just never told anyone about it. (Arenât I being mysterious? Mwahaha)
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS:
Who is his/her best friend?: Taejun. Theyâve known each other for so many years and have done literally everything together. One could even say that Jongjin is closer to Taejun than he is to his own family.
Who are his/her other close friends?: Hamin, of course and thereâs a girl called Mai who he hasnât seen in a while because she is living in Japan, but they still talk on a regular basis.
How in general does the character relate to friends?: Itâs not easy to become friend with him, but once you manage to get close to him, youâre going to be there for the rest of your life (or until you do something to really hurt him). Jongjin is extremely loyal and he cares a lot about his friends, but the thing is that he doesnât tend to show it. He will usually try to help them (when he can) without them being aware of it, which could mean anonymously sending things or god knows what else.
⊠to strangers?: Heâs good at dealing with strangers. He doesnât mind if someone randomly comes up to him and start hitting on him or something like that. Whenever that happens, he usually pulls out his âescortâ persona and cranks up his charm factor. And if the stranger is violent for some reasons (because those things can happen), well he doesnât have trouble dealing with those either. Heâs a hitman after all and certainly knows how to defend himself.
⊠to spouse/Lover?: he tends to spoil them rotten. Heâs not good at expressing his feelings verbally, but he certainly loves showering them with little attentions and doing everything in his power to make his lover happy. Heâs quite selfless when it comes to relationship. He will really put his partnerâs happiness over his own (although there are some limits because he wonât let someone walk all over him either). He also likes physical contacts a lot once he is in a relationship which means that he will hug, hold hands, cuddle, kiss, etc.
⊠to past spouses/lovers?: He only has one past lover of importance and they donât really see each other anymore. Sometimes Jongjin will get a phone call and that will leave him completely shaken to his core. He usually spends the next day hiding in bed, avoiding everyone. He doesnât think that he would go back to dating that person if they were to ask him again though. Itâs more that the phone calls stir up old memories and it takes time to shove those back deep down inside of him.
⊠to other family members?: Heâs a bit distant. He doesnât feel like he has anything in common with them anymore. Itâs possible there is a part of him though that feels like by keeping a certain distance, it allows him to protect them somehow. If people knew he was involved with the mafia, it wouldnât be good. That said, he is still happy when he gets to see his parents and tries to show them that he cares about them even though heâs often awkward and not very good with these things. He sometimes wonder if his father is still meeting younger guys when his mother isnât around, and he wonders if his mother even knows about this, but he never brought it up. His parents are still together so he doesnât feel like he should be the one getting involved in their personal matters. As for his twin brother, they obviously share a connection that cannot be easily destroyed so of course he still cares a lot about him. There are so many things he wish he could tell his brother, but heâs holding himself back. Maybe that will change in the future, who knows.
⊠to the same sex?: Heâs cocky as fuck. He thinks heâs hot shit and tends to act like it. That said, he wouldnât look down on a scrawny kid. Thatâs not the kind of guy he is. Well, he does look down on people if he thinks theyâre pathetic and that usually happens when he works and heâs about to kill someone, but anyway. The point is, heâs comfortable around guys.
⊠to the opposite sex?: He doesnât think anything in particular about them. He doesnât see them much differently than he sees guys tbh. Theyâre just there and there are some cool chicks and some annoying ones, but thatâs all okay. He will help them if they ask for his help and will playfully flirt back if they flirt with him but thatâs about it. He would never use violence against a girl though (unless she was trying to kill him).
⊠to children in general?: Like Iâve said earlier in this document, heâs not very good with kids. He doesnât know what heâs supposed to do with them and just ends up being very awkward around them. He usually finds them extremely annoying because they ask too many questions and cry all the time. They are too whiny and he thinks that some of them should be slapped for throwing a tantrum in public so yeah, definitely not great with children.
⊠to others who are more successful?: Honestly, he has better things to do than care about people who are more successful than him. So what if they own a hospital or have 10 hotels to their name? Good for them. He might be evolving in a tough environment, a dangerous one at that, but he wouldnât change anything about it.
⊠to others who are less successful?: Itâs a bit the same as for those who are more successful. He doesnât spend too much time dwelling on it. If he sees someone being less successful, heâd think something along the lines of âtoo bad for themâ and would proceed to just mind his own business.
⊠to boss (if any)?: He owes this man a lot and heâs trying to stay in his good graces so that one day, maybe, he could be invited to stand at his bossâ side and be his right hand man or something close in importance. He respects him greatly and wouldnât dare betray him.
⊠to underlings at work?: He has zero patience with them if they show any hint of incompetence. If they complain, whine or ask too many questions, he turns very cold toward them and tends to end up snapping at them. On the other hand, if they listen to him quietly, obey orders and get shit done without any screw-ups then he is okay with them and may even take them under his wing.
⊠to competitors?: Oh he doesnât leave them any chance. Heâs extremely competitive and if he has to play dirty to get the upper hand, he will.
⊠to authority (police, IRS, politicians, attorneys, doctors, etc.)?: Outside of work, heâs polite with all (when he encounters them). Thatâs usually a front though because he knows how corrupted most of them are. Heâs seen so many of them over the years, at mafia dinners and at the many brothels owned by the family that it would be ridiculous of him to think they can offer some kind of justice or help out there. Of course not all of them are corrupted, but letâs just say he doesnât take them very seriously most of the time.
What do most people consider his/her most likeable trait?: His charisma. Heâs very charming and itâs very hard for people not to like him. Heâs also a good listener.
What do most people consider his/her biggest flaw?: His assurance/confidence, but Iâd like to say itâs because theyâre jealous haha
Any secret attractions/crushes?: Well, heâs always been attracted to Taejun and he highly doubts thatâs going to go away anytime soon, even if he is in a relationship and he loves his boyfriend.
In romantic relationships, is s/he generally monogamous or uncommitted? (If the latter, is s/he honest w/ partners?): Itâs a bit difficult to say because heâs never been in what he would call a romantic relationship. Heâs only just now starting one, but he definitely feels like committing.
Is his/her sexual behavior inhibited, average, experimental, or reckless? Has this changed (and if so, why)?: Itâs definitely not as hardcore now as it used to be. He used to be quite reckless and he tried a LOT of things. There are still a lot of things that turn him on, but heâs also satisfied with sex that doesnât include toys or ropes or anything like that.
Whom does s/he dislike most, and why?: most of the people he has to kill but after the job is done, he forgets about them and moves on. He dislikes people who walk slowly on sidewalks and teenagers who think theyâre hot shit (even though theyâre really not and know nothing about real gang life).
Whom does s/he like most, and why?: His friends and his family and because isnât it obvious after everything Iâve been writing about them so far?
Who's the most important person in his/her life right now, and why?: Hamin, because heâs the one that triggered Jongjin to start getting his life in some sort of order.
Whom does s/he secretly admire (nonromantic), and why?: His brother because heâs proud of him. Heâs proud that his brother had the guts to stay with his girlfriend after she gave birth to their child, and that he later had the guts to say that he would raise the girl alone when his girlfriend decided to pack her bags and leave. He doesnât think he would have been able to do it if it had happened to him.
Who was his/her biggest influence, and why?: Kyeul. Kyeul was everything to Jongjin. He was the only man who managed to become more important than Taejun in Jongjinâs life (before Jongjin met Hamin that is). He is the one who had a big role in shaping Jongjin into the man he is today. He brought him good things and bad things. Kyeul always seemed to know what he wanted and how to get it. Thatâs something Jongjin has always admired and tried to emulate.
Person s/he most misunderstands or misjudges: He sometimes tend to forget that just because someone is rich doesnât mean that their life is just peachy. He can be very judgemental, but he will rarely express it aloud.
Person who most misunderstands or misjudges him or her: probably everyone who has met him while he was working, although heâd tell you that everyone judges everyone all the time so thereâs bound to be some terrible misjudgement amidst all that judgement.
Has s/he lost touch with anyone significant in his/her life? If so, why?: his twin brother though heâs recently gotten in touch with him again so I donât know if that counts.
Worst end of a relationship (could be friend, romance, colleagueâŠ)?: Definitely Kyeul.
Whom does s/he most rely on for practical advice?: Mai
Whom does s/he most rely on for emotional support?: Taejun, even though they both suck with emotions. Still, theyâve always been there for each other and they have ways to cheer each other up, little routines that never fail to make them feel slightly better.
Whom, if anyone, does s/he support (e.g. advice or emotional support)?: He likes to think that heâs been a good support to Hamin and his other close friends, but heâs not very good at giving advice since his life isnât exactly what you would call exemplary.
MENTAL ATTITUDE/PERSONAL BELIEFS:
Any psychological issues (e.g. phobias, depression, paranoia, narcissism, etc.)?: Heâs terrified of being paralysed which stems from the sleep paralysis he used to suffer from when he was younger. Itâs been years since he last had an episode, but heâs afraid it might just happen again one day. Being tied up though doesnât terrify him because he knows itâs not permanent. Well, he would probably freak out a little if he was waking up in an abandoned warehouse, tied up and all alone.
Is s/he an optimist or pessimist?: Heâs a realist. Ha!
Meyers Briggs Personality Type (see http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp): ESTP (Extravert (67%), Sensing (1%), Thinking (62%), Perceiving (33%)) You can read some more about it here if you want: http://www.humanmetrics.com/personality/estp
S/he is most comfortable when ... (alone, hanging w/friends, drinking, etc.): It honestly depends on the days, but in general, heâs more in his element when heâs surrounded by people because when heâs alone, he starts thinking too much. Being with other people is more relaxing to him. That said, there are days where he does need to just be alone at home and when that happens, heâs also comfortable.
S/he is most uncomfortable when ... (in a crowd, alone, speaking in public, etc.): Definitely when someone asks him how he feels. He can talk about a lot of things, but when it comes to talking about how he feels, he hates it.
Is s/he cautious, brave, or reckless in his/her approach to life?: Iâd say heâs been quite reckless so far, but heâs always followed his gut somehow. Like, yeah he ended up in dangerous situations and what not, but thatâs because he made the choice to join a dangerous organisation. He knew what to expect (to a certain extent) when he made his decision and thatâs exactly why he loves it so much. Thereâs always something happening. Thereâs always some unplanned shit going on and he loves being faced with possible danger. He also enjoys speed which translates into his driving.
What does s/he most value/prioritize (family, money, success, religion, etc.)?: I think he values excitement the most to be honest. If things are too boring, he fades. Thereâs a part of him that somehow dies down. Heâs always been chasing after something that would make him feel alive somehow, be it sex or selling drugs, taking drugs, killing people, etc. Money doesnât really matter to him as long as he has enough to pay for an apartment and some food. Family isnât too important to him either. He loves his family of course, but he doesnât choose to do things in his life so it can somehow bring something good to his family. Success? Hmm, maybe thereâs a bit of that. He was quite popular as an escort and he did use to take pride in that. He is also known as an excellent hitman so yeah, I think success would be a good answer.
Whom does s/he really love best?: himself, oh my god, I know it sounds awfully conceited but Iâll try to explain. Jongjin has been able to live the life heâs been leading so far because heâs 100% confident in himself. He knows who he is, what he likes, what he dislikes and sure maybe sometime heâs not always treating himself right, but overall, heâs doing a pretty good job. Plus, itâs not easy to love someone else.
Whom or what would s/he be willing to die for?: Heâd die for Hamin, without any hesitation. Heâs been spending so much time secretly trying to protect the other and making sure that things were somehow okay since theyâve met that if they were both in a dangerous situation and his death would mean that Hamin was going to be safe and alive, then heâd gladly take the bullet or get stab or whatever.
Is s/he generally compassionate or self-involved?: Heâs generally self-involved, but there are exceptions.
Personal philosophy: Do more of what makes you happy and fuck the establishment.
Whatâs his/her most embarrassing moment?: Crying in public.
What is his/her secret wish?: As much as he loves the city and being surrounded by people, sometimes he wishes he could just move to a remote place and live there with the person he loves and not just care about the rest of the world.
What (or who) is his/her biggest fear?: Losing Hamin and Taejun.
Any prejudices (race, culture, sexuality, religion, etc.)?: Those overly religious people who think that people of color, homosexuals, etc. all deserve to burn in Hell. If anyone should burn in Hell, itâs those overly religious people.
Political party or beliefs, if any: He does not follow politics. When he was an escort, he heard a lot from each side of the political spectrum and honestly, he doesnât think that one side is better than the other. He does think it would be nice if the government could actually do something for its citizens instead of pretending to be doing something when really theyâre just filling up their own pockets.
Does s/he believe in fate or destiny? Is s/he superstitious? : No, he doesnât believe in any of those things.
Character's greatest strength: Confidence
Other good characteristics: Perseverance, he has a good sense of humor, leadership
Character's greatest flaw: Not really showing his emotions.
Other character flaws: Impatience, violence, recklessness, not always honest
What are his/her own favorite attributes (both physical and personal)?: He quite likes the fact that he is tall and that he has nice abs. Though like I said somewhere earlier, Jongjin loves himself and is comfortable with who he is so thereâs not much about himself he actually dislikes.
What about least favorite?: Well, heâs been told multiple times that he has a great ass, but he still wish it could be a bit bigger as well as more firm and round.
Are these feelings accurate?: yeah thatâs pretty accurate, but like, other people might not agree with it.
How does s/he think others perceive him or her? (And is this accurate?): Heâs pretty sure that 50% of the population think that heâs some sort of heartless bastard and that the other 50% thinks they want to fuck him. While some people do think heâs an heartless bastard and some who do want to fuck him, there are a lot of people who simply do not care about him, who are scared of him, who think heâs a good customer, etc. The opinion varies depending on where he is and the kind of interaction he has with other people. So itâs not really accurate.
Biggest regret: N/A
Other regrets: N/A
Proudest accomplishment: Being Haminâs bf (ho ho ho)
Other accomplishments: managing to climb the ladder to reach the position heâs at right now, being trusted by the Big Boss, the fact he prevented some potential gang war from happening back when he was 18.
Quirks: He always stretches in the morning when he wakes up and that makes him look like a giant cat. He also often rolls his shoulders and moves his head side to side to crack his neck. He whistles all the time. It can be while in the shower, while cooking, or even when killing someone. Not sure if that can count as a quirk, but when he and Taejun want to cheer each other up, they sit together in Jongjinâs bathtub and drink expensive red wine. Likes to play with knives, like twirling them between his fingers.
Character's biggest secret(s)?: He has a child (although he still doesnât know about it himself (I need to write a self-para about it)).
Who else knows (if anyone)? : no one knows! mwahaha
How does s/he react to a crisis? : heâs usually prompt to react and get shit done. Sometimes he will use his head to come up with a good plan of action, but more often than not, heâs just going to act on impulse. Heâs usually able to stay calm and will only show signs of stress/panic once he is alone. If he was to witness someone he loves getting shot under his eyes though, heâd probably go berserk.
What usually causes the problems in his/her life (romance, finances, friends, rivals, colleagues, personality flaws, health, etc.)?: personality flaws for sure, and his job sometimes makes things a bit difficult for him
What would s/he most like to change about her-/himself? Why?: He often wishes it was easier for him to express himself because it would make things simpler and reduce the amount of possible misunderstandings.
Short term goals: spoiling Hamin, have a good conversation with Taejun, figure out what he wants to do from here on out.
Long term goals: Heâs currently thinking about that. It used to be one thing, but now that heâs 30 years old, he wonders if he should set new goals.
Does s/he plan to achieve these goals, or does s/he think theyâre unrealistic?: Of course he plans to achieve them. Thereâs nothing unrealistic about those after all.
Will others be affected? If so, does s/he care?: Maybe a little, but itâs not like he can really do anything about it. He has to think about whatâs best for him first, what he wants to do. Thatâs the most important.
What if anything is stopping him/her from achieving these goals?: Well since he is currently re-evaluating his life goals and just his life in general, I donât think there is anyone or anything out there to stop him from achieving his goals, but if there was, heâd probably ignore it anyway.
What event or occurrence does s/he most dread or fear?: losing those he cares about.
What does he/she actively work to gain, keep or protect?: well, he used to work for sexual satisfaction likeâŠ.he loves sex and the best way to get as much as he wanted was to be an escort/prostitute. After that, he worked to be recognized by the family and to gain enough trust to be able to climb up the ranks. Now he works to keep his position because the higher up he is, the more power he has and that means he can protect Hamin more easily.
Which person in his/her life would s/he most want to emulate?: Kyeul, which he is already kind of doing like I mentioned earlier (I think)
Which person in his/her life would s/he least want to emulate?: Anyone who can be called a dictator.
LIKES/FAVORITES:
Food: any type of meat, curry, Japanese ramen
Drink: coffee, red wine, soju, cognac
Color: heâs always either wearing black or whiteâŠ.but alright, blue.
Book: n/a
Film: The Godfather, any movie by Tarantino, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
TV Show: The Walking Dead, How to get away with murder
Music/Song: His favorite genre of music is classic rock, but lately heâs been listening to a bit more mainstream music as well as some rap and hip/hop. // Some bands: CCR, Aerosmith, Metallica, Mötley CrĂŒe, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, GunsânâRoses, Drake, The Weeknd
Sport: Basketball
Hangout(s): Shady underground bars, coffee shops, night clubs, VIP clubs, his neighborhood.
Possession: his collection of knives, a silver chain that he never takes off and thatâs about it really.
Tried to break the chains, but the chains only break me âŠ
I thought I would be okay. I kept telling myself: âWork harder. Go home and get to bed early. Donât tell others youâre unhappy.â I donât know how to get through these long nights. I canât sleep. I donât want to hate myself.
Days Of Being Wild (1990)
Endings & Beginnings || self-para (ish)
"Well I always thought I was pretty. That was the only thing that ever got me anywhere." Hamin sighed. He didnât like to be confronted with logic, especially knowing that nothing he ever felt made sense. "But you know, being physically attracted to someone and wanting to be with them are very different things." He hummed agreeably, eyelashes fluttering against the touch. Either way, he was lucky. It was easier to focus on that than to fret about how he had gotten here. "To be honest, I practically fell into your lap." That night had been an end and a beginning for him in more ways than one. He had been more than desperate, and Jongjin had been there looking like everything he had ever wanted and been denied, a second chance more beautiful than all the firsts. It had been hard to resist, and Hamin was glad he hadnât. "And Iâm glad your body made things easier for us," he teased. Hamin wasnât sure if he believed in fate. Love at first sight wasnât really something he could place either, though in retrospect he probably had fallen in love faster than he thought. Mostly, he felt that his life without Jongjin had all just been leading up to that night, leading up to now. All of his mistakes had pushed him to this moment, and for that he was grateful.
Hamin peppered Jongjinâs face with kisses. âWell if you ever have a problem, you never have to be afraid to let me know. Iâm sure weâll have our squabbles, and Iâm sure that in and of itself could be a perfectly okay thing. If things go beyond that and stop becoming growing experiences, we should fix them right away.â There was no way theyâd be a pristine couple. The two of them tended to nag and tease, and there would probably be times when they were grumpy at each other. Hamin wouldnât have it any other way. Outbursts of emotion were the only way he ever let anything meaningful out anyway. However, if something deeper than that was going on, he didnât want to leave it alone like they used to. Misunderstandings got a little dangerous when they led such complicated lives.
"You think itâs too much effort to call you something as small as that?" Haminâs gaze was achingly fond, laughing breathlessly. "What do you think I call you in my head then? I could fill books with what I think of you, enough to make âdarlingâ seem distant by comparison." He pressed a kiss to the top of Jongjinâs head. The low voice close to his ear sent ripples down his spine. He definitely liked Jongjinâs pissed off voice the best, but quiet whispers were a close second. "Iâm glad you enjoy it. Iâm sure you can bring it out of me whenever you want, hm?" Hamin practically purred. For all of his stubborn tendencies, he loved to please. Jongjin was one of the few who could bring out his true obedient side. He almost couldnât wait to be taken at any time of the day. It made him wish he had the energy to go right then.
"We canât sleep on couches forever, Jong." Hamin rolled his eyes exasperatedly. "You and me both canât be waking up with sore muscles or cricks and cramps." Their makeout session was far too short lived for his tastes, but technically it was supposed to be a new year kiss. He resolved to make up for it as soon as possible. Glad for the lack of champagne all over his living room, he took his glass with a small thank you. "I think Iâm gonna get through two tops before I keel over. How many glasses in a bottle? Six or something?" Hamin returned the toast and started taking his glass in moderate sips. "Youâve got me in weight and height, so if you want to prove yourself yet again as the fancy alcohol enthusiast, be my guest." Hamin got towards the bottom of his glass. Though he was definitely of simple tastes when it came to alcohol, there was something nice about sparkling wine.
"So, since youâre in love with couches and extremely melodramatic about beds, whoâs couch are we crashing on and how often? I could use some more practice getting in your window if you havenât changed the latch." Hamin settled with his legs in Jongjinâs lap, leaning against the side of the couch. His glass which was now empty was half forgotten in his hand. "Or are we leaving important discussions for later when weâre more put together?" There was much more he wanted to talk about that he wasnât planning on bringing up right now. First issue being which of his jobs bothered Jongjin more, and what they wanted to do about it. He wasnât sure if he was quite thrilled to know, but he definitely needed to ask. It was going to take a long time to think about before he made a decision. "Or we could start with cute things like what kind of mugs to get. Iâve almost forgotten how you like your coffee. Oh, and if weâre actually going to do the âless coffee and alcoholâ thing, which would be a total bummer. Iâd prefer to be both awake and wasted for making out. Another reason for picking couches though, thereâs so many places in both of our apartments that you havenât fucked me in ages," he whined dramatically.
He had to agree with Hamin on that one. He could definitely remember a few instances where he had slept with guys because there had just been this sort of chemistry between them in terms of physical attraction and the sex had been amazing, but Jongjin would have never wanted to spend time with them outside the bedroom just because he knew they would never get along. There was nothing wrong with that. âWell, Iâm pretty sure Iâd never complain about you falling into my lap,â he grinned lecherously, teasing right back.
âSame goes to you,â he replied, keeping his eyes closed as he let Hamin pepper his face with kisses. It feels nice and heâs completely reveling in the attention. âIâd rather we avoid hurting each other unnecessarily. Actually no, Iâd rather we avoid hurting each other at all.â He had never wanted to hurt Hamin and knowing that he had managed to do so unconsciously was the worst feeling. âI hope youâre ready though. If you think youâve seen all my bad sides, you may end up being a bit surprised.â The way he said it made it sound like he was joking, but he was actually serious. They had known each other for a while so Hamin had seen multiple sides of him over the years, but there were still things about himself that Jongjin was keeping safely locked away. Who knew how long that could last though.
âHmm, tonight we could crash on yours if weâre too lazy to move. I like your couch, itâs comfortable and spacious enough to accommodate my body. That said, youâre welcome to visit and come crash on mine whenever you want, but I canât say that it is as comfortable as yours. I donât think I would be able to let you sleep there. Iâd take you to my room for sureâŠdespite what I said about beds earlier.â He grinned at Hamin before taking a sip of champagne. He tilted his head slightly to the side when Hamin asked if they were leaving important discussions to later. It wasnât the first time since they had gotten together that Hamin had said something like that and Jongjin was starting to wonder just what it was exactly that the other wanted to talk about because he certainly didnât feel like they had anything very serious to discuss. He slowly ran his hand over Haminâs thigh. âWhat is it that you want us to talk about? You keep bringing it up, and yet you donât really delve into it. Is anything bothering you?â
He emptied his flute of champagne and carefully moved to grab the bottle so he could refill their glasses. Screw what he had said earlier about not drinking too much. This champagne was way too delicious and he was way too happy to not enjoy this bottle to the fullest. âWe can talk about mugs though if you prefer. We should get huge ones so theyâre comfortable for my big hands, and I like my coffee black, like my clothes.â He started coughing when his champagne went down the wrong pipe when he heard Hamin whining. Somehow, he had not expected to hear the other whine about that. âWell, now we have plenty of time to change that,â he said, slightly wheezing as he tried to catch his breath. He moved to set his glass aside and then pulled Hamin back onto his lap, wrapping his arms around him and nuzzling his nose against the side of his neck.
âItâs been a whileâŠ.maybe I lost all my skills and I am terrible at it now. What if you end up regretting this?â he mumbled against Haminâs skin, letting his lips brush against it before closing them around the skin and leaving kisses.

Hyejin || Self-para
When his phone starts ringing, Jongjin has a cock buried deep in his ass, sweat is lightly shining on his skin and heâs a few hip thrusts away from ejaculating all over his partnerâs stomach. âFuck!â he curses as he recognizes the special ringtone even though it had been a while since he had last heard it. He ignores it, or tries to at least, shifting a bit and bouncing a bit harder until they both climax with the damn phone still ringing from where Jongjin had abandoned his jacket earlier. He looks down at the guy under him and pushes himself off the guyâs cock. âSorry, I really have to take this,â he announces before walking away from the bed, grimacing as he feels cum trickling down.
He rummages around for his phone until his fingers wrap around it and he swipes his finger over the screen to take the call. âWhat? Iâm busy,â he snaps and is met with a short silence, then he hears his motherâs voice.
âIâm sorry to call you out of the blue like this butâŠyour brother, he wouldnât call you himself, but I really think you should be here with him Jongjin...â
âKaa-san,â he sighs as he pinches the bridge of his nose, âwhere is âhereâ exactly?â He turns around and sees that his partner has left the bed and is nowhere in sight, though he hears the shower running so itâs not hard to figure out where he went. Jongjin is currenly wishing he could also be in that shower instead of standing in the now cold room with cum sliding down his thighs and his abs, while on the phone with his mother no less.
ââŠthe hospital.â
Jongjinâs pretty sure his heart stops beating for a second. Then he starts thinking about the worst things that could have possibly happen and tries to reassure himself; if something terrible had happened to his brother, he would have known. Maybe they werenât as closed as they used to be when they were kids, but surely their special bond was still there. âWhat happened? Is he okay?â he asks, rushed, as he turns toward his bag and unzips it. He rummages around until he finds the package of baby wipes he always carries around because who knows where you can end up having sex. He squeezes his phone between his shoulder and his cheeks and pulls a few wipes out before reaching between his legs to clean up quickly.
âHeâsâŠyesâŠheâs not injured, but his nervesâŠIâm afraid he may end up having a panic attack soon. Iâve been trying to reassure him, but he wonât listen to me.â
âWhat about dad?â
âHeâs still at work, you know how he tends to forget about time.â
Jongjin knows of course. He nods even though his mother canât see him and he grabs his clothes, roughly tugging his pants back on and briefly pulling the phone away from his ear so he could throw his shirt back on. He then returns the phone to its cheek/shoulder position and sits down on a chair to pull on his socks and boots. âSo where are you guys? Which hospital? What floor?â
His mother gives him the name of the hospital as well as the floor they are on and he tells her that he will be there soon before hanging up. He stands back up and is throwing on his jacket when the door from the bathroom opens and the guy leans against the doorway, a towel loosely wrapped around his hips. âRunning away already?â he asks, and Jongjin nods. âYeah, something came up, sorry.â
âItâs a shame. Moneyâs over there,â he said pointing at his discarded pair of pants. Jongjin bends down to grab the pants and searches all the pockets until he finds rolled bills. He shoves them in his own pocket and mutters a quick thanks before grabbing the rest of his stuff, mostly just his bag and hurrying out of the room.

"I was willing to wait for as long as you needed, ready to accept whatever decision you made. That I was completely truthful about." Hamin smiled wistfully. To be fair, he had taken a long time to sort out his feelings as well. If this had happened a couple of years ago, there was no telling what the outcome would have been. He had always been too wary of happiness to even consider trying to obtain it. Often times he had worried if he was more just obsessed with the idea of liking Jongjin than actually in love with him. Had all of his recent realizations not taken place, there may have been a much more tragic outcome. "I think I was so desperate for you to be happy, and so stubbornly blind, I just assumed there was no wayâ I never thought youâd pick me. And that was just as much due to my own insecurities as the long wait." It had always been so hard to tell where Jongjinâs natural protective and caring tendencies ended, and where his feelings began. Instead of talking to clear it up, Hamin had been ready to accept loss.
"I think deciding itself was enough planning. If you had tried anything extravagantâ well, first of all I probably wouldnât have thought it serious. The simplicity of it let me know that it was really you." Hamin continued to play in Jongjinâs hair gently. They were both about spent. "And if someone had warned me ahead for this, I would have thought they were joking." He couldnât have dreamed this up. His mind had certainly tried despite him, all the nights he had curled up alone, every night he had ached. Of course, he had fantasized about this happening more times than heâd cared to admit. However, every time he started, he had tried to blot it out, drown it in sex and alcohol. He had left his life fall apart just to prepare himself.
"We gotta make sure we talk things out, okay?" Hamin let himself cling to Jongjin. The fact that the first thing that had come into his mind was that he didnât deserve this let him know that he had better be careful. "I have such a bad habit of worrying. I know itâs hard for you to voice feelings, and Iâve always been so grateful for everything you tell me, but I just donât want anything to happen because of doubt or worry." The space between Haminâs eyebrows furrowed. There was no way in hell he was going to let Jongjin be torn away from him on undue causes. "So, justâ" He paused to let his thoughts collect. "If something is wrong, we need to talk. I kindaâ fuck things up a lot by overthinking. I donât mind anything else we do; I just want this one thing."
Hamin took his kiss with a smile. âI dunno, maybe itâs too sappy. Iâve always thought that âdarlingâ would suit you though.â There had been so many things he had wanted to call Jongjin over the years. He had always been a little bit of a sucker for words. âMaybe Iâll call you âloveâ on mondays and âdarlingâ on the weekends. Tuesdays you can be âmy sun and stars,â and Thursdays âmy everything.â The rest will depend on my mood.â Maybe he would pick the most embarrassing ones just to see Jongjin blush. The thought was practically delicious. âI guess we have a lot of things to decide on together, donât we?â There was a lot to talk about, so much that they could probably stay up all night talking about it. There was no way theyâd last that long though, not tonight. The fact that they had time, that there was a tomorrow, a next weekâ it was nothing short of perfect.
Hamin swatted Jongjinâs hand indignantly, unable to stay cross and ending up laughing instead. It was nice to be hopelessly in love without consequences. âYouâre still sharp yourself.â Hamin poked Jongjinâs nose. Turning around, he glanced at the clock he kept back in the hallway. He reached for his phone to double check the time. âI think we made it.â Turning around the screen, he showed the time at 11:58. He brushed his hair away from his face. âYou still get your official kiss then.â Settling himself to balance on his knees on either side of Jongjin, he rested his arms on the olderâs shoulders. Though there had been so much he had initially wanted to say, everything had faded by this point. To be able to curl against his love and feel his breathing, that was enough to last him a lifetime. His phone was still in his hand. âAnd past 11:59â he hummed. With a click, he turned the clock into a countdown so they could see it properly. Hamin smiled as the second hand passed the thirty second mark.
"Happy new year, Jongjin." Leaning in, he locked their mouths together. All at once he let out all the emotions he had suppressed ever since the very first night. Playfully, using his knees, he shifted all of his weight to one side to topple them over back onto the couch. Right now all he wanted was to get the breath knocked out of him. Maybe heâd replace getting that feeling from bruising and start from kisses. Breaking the kiss only when he started to feel lightheaded, he laughed. "I suppose weâll have a lot of little resolutions to fulfill, wonât we? Like crashing in actual beds." Hamin held Jongjinâs face in his hands and kissed him again, slow and lazily. He almost let himself forget about the champagne completely. It would be such a waste to ignore it though. "Okay, okay, sorry Iâm done. We can open the bottle now." He landed one last peck before rolling off of Jongjin.Â
âYou should be a bit more confident Hamin. Do you even know how handsome you are? And itâs not just about looks either. Do you think I would have honestly stuck to your side like glue for all these years if I thought you were boring or annoying or not cool enough to be called a friend? I know that my past makes it so that Iâm pretty good at playing make-believe but I wouldnât have done that to you.â He reached up and gently brushed his knuckles along Haminâs jaw. âIâm not sure how comforting this is going to be but let it be known that my body certainly picked you as soon as it saw you the first timeâŠI mean, you were quite a sight that evening.â He wasnât going to lie and try to sugar coat things. He hadnât fallen in love with Hamin at first sight. Jongjin didnât believe in those kinds of things anyway. He did believe however that it was possible to desire someone, want to get them in bed, at first sight and in his case, thatâs what had happened when he had met Hamin the first time.
He couldnât stop smiling at Hamin and his cheeks were starting to hurt because he wasnât used to having this kind of expression on his face. âLike you just said, Iâm not really the best when it comes to expressing my feelings, but Iâm willing to make an effort if itâs to reassure you and let you know that things are okay. I know you tend to worry a lot, but I do too although I donât really let it show. I mostly worry about you,â he admitted, âso if I see you look a bit down, you can be assured I will probably ask you whatâs up because thatâs just the kind of thing I do whenever youâre concerned.â It was true that he hadnât been as present in the past couple of months though and he had been feeling like he was drifting slowly away from Hamin, but he was glad that hadnât happened and that they had managed to reach their current point.
âHmmm, âdarlingâ makes it sound like Iâm some kind of rich dude straight out of a posh family,â he laughed, but then felt himself blushing as Hamin continued to talk. There he was, being all poetic, or honest, maybe both, Jongjin wasnât sure, but it was certainly enough to make him hide his face against Haminâs collarbone. âYou donât have to go that far, besidesâŠâ he turned his head slightly so he could bring his mouth closer to Haminâs ear and there, he whispered, ââŠI love it the most when weâre in bed and you call my name.â It was an attempt to tease Hamin even though he was being completely honest. He wasnât sure this was going to work and make the other blush though considering this wasnât the kind of thing Hamin wasnât used to hear but who knew, maybe for once Jongjin would turn out being wrong in his assumptions. Even if he wasnât, he still enjoyed teasing the other.
âAre you trying to tell me something? Whatâs wrong with my nose?â he asked, reaching up to touch it and turning his lips into a pout. Again, it was all just for play. He felt too giddy to stop being silly. âWe did?â he said in surprise, straightening up on the couch as Hamin showed him the screen of his phone. He let the other make himself comfortable on his lap and then gently rested his hands on Haminâs waist. He watched the minute pass and when there were only a few seconds left to midnight, he counted down from 10 until, âHappy new year Hamin,â he said softly and leaned forward to close the distance between them.
There were no words to describe how the kiss felt. All he knew was that he never wanted it to stop. His eyes opened in panic when he felt himself losing balance but before he could do anything, Hamin was on top of him and pressing down on him so he let his eyes flutter close again and kissed with a newfound vigor, wrapping his arms around the other and keeping him close. âWho needs a bed when you have a couch,â he replied with a lower voice than usual, slightly breathless from their previous kiss. âThereâs too much space in a bedâŠyouâre going to roll away from me with all the blankets and I will be left on my side, all alone, shiverâŠâ he was cut off by Hamin giving him another kiss, which he didnât waste time returning.
He hummed as the other rolled away from him and he shifted until he was on his side. âA part of me says we should only get one glass each so we donât get drunk and actually remember this moment, but another part of me is telling me that it would be terrible to waste all that delicious champagne by not finishing the bottle. Oh the dilemma.â He pushed himself back into a sitting position and then stood up. He walked over to where the bottle was and grabbed it. He then unwrapped the paper at the top and proceeded to open it. Thankfully, he did it so that the cork didnât go flying up to the ceiling though it did make a nice pop and Jongjin hurried to pour the alcohol into the glasses. He then turned around and handed one to Hamin before sitting back down on the couch.
âTo a new year together that will hopefully bring us lots of surprises and if there are any harder time, Iâm toasting so that we both learn from those and that it brings us even closer, soâŠto us?â he said as he raised his glass.

Though he could still feel his heart beating wildly, Hamin tried his best to regain his composure. However, Jongjin was there looking so nervous and beautiful. That if anything let him know that this was serious, he couldnât have dreamed of a situation like this. He had a lapful of lost puppy, and one who wasnât one for admitting feelings on top of it all. It was so endearing, he almost couldnât stand it. Though the thoughts he so desperately needed to fall into place seemed almost within his grasp, they scattered just as soon as he grasped for them. Hisâ Jongjin could be his. He felt like all of his blood rushed to his head at once, and thought of how silly it would be if he passed out. As Jongjin hid his face again, an erratic sob escaped Haminâs throat before he could swallow it. What good had he ever done to deserve this?
"Please donât cry. Youâre gonna kill me," Hamin fussed endearingly, though his own tears were already overflowing. Reaching out to hold Jongjinâs chin, he made sure the kiss lingered for longer than it was meant to, eyes fluttering closed with a thousand silent and thankful prayers. Feeling dizzy, all he could do was nod though he knew there was no need to be thanked in the first place. "Iâ I-" he started, but the childlike sobs spilling from his chest hid his words. He simply let himself be pulled against Jongjin as his shoulders shook, mouth covered by his hand. He couldnât even make himself regret falling apart, knowing it was justified.
Once his crying had subsided a bit, he pushed his hair back from his face. âI lied about the alone time,â he sniffled pitifully, blinking through his tears. There wasnât a way for his face to get more red, his cheeks already flushed. âI thoughtâ I thoughtâ his voice came out in little whines and whimpers, it was so frustrating. He swallowed, trying to even his tone so he could talk properly. âI was afraid I felt too much for you. I thought it was going to be hopeless, and that I was making a mistake.â Even saying all of this out loud, he knew there was no way to encompass everything in words. He needed Jongjin to know at least a little bit though. âI thoughtâ I needed to get over you.â Hamin blinked the tears from his eyes. Eventually he gave up to press his face against Jongjinâs chest. âI was so stupid, Jong. Iâm so sorry.â His sobs blended with laughter, leaving him breathless and undoubtedly a mess. He pulled his face back up. âI thought I needed to get over you, and you show up with this. Thatâs why I was in such a bad mood when you came over, and my reaction is like this now.â Hamin wiped at his face, sniffling.
"And you had to have planned this, didnât you?" He couldnât even imagine Jongjin preparing to tell him this. He couldnât wrap his mind around it. "I almost wish I could do it over again. I canât believeâ" Hamin let out a shaky exhale. The little quivers of his limbs started to subside. So much for a graceful reaction. It felt like the tension of all these years had been stretched out and snipped with scissors. "I guess I couldnât have prepared for that, could I?" His body probably couldnât handle living that over again. Hamin ran his hands through Jongjinâs hair again, loving how it looked tousled. This year, though he had expected nothing from it but a continued cycle of lying to himself and lonely nights, in a matter of moments had become an infinity. "Oh, Jongjin," he breathed, curling closer. "Jongjin, Jongjin, Jongjin, Jongjin-" he felt like he couldnât run his fingers enough over familiar cheekbones. His chest ached, and hopefully there were no more tears left to be shed, because he certainly felt like crying again.
Hamin hummed fondly. âWill you? What else will you do?â He murmured, peppering kisses across Jongjinâs forehead. âWill you call me pet names? Should we get matching sets of coffee mugs and go on long walks when it gets warm in the evenings?â The thought of doing such ordinary, lovely things with Jongjin was surprisingly welcome. It was almost too much too fast. Hours ago he had been so removed from any of these possibilities, hadnât even let himself dream. âHow funny it is that we started as such sharp characters on our ownâ How we wore down our rough edges, and weâve ended up here.â Their story was so unique, it almost felt like they had taken a small and natural step forward, though that step had been so hard to take.
âSame applies to you, you know. Besides Iâm not crying,â he murmured and tried as best as he could to dry Haminâs tears by running his thumbs over his cheeks. It was great though to be able to provide some comfort simply by holding the other in his arms. This was something he had done countless times before, but he used to always be unsure of whether he was truly helping or not. This time though, because they both finally stopped being idiots and decided they would try being together, it felt different.
âHaminâŠâ he started to say before hugging the other more tightly. âYou donât have to be sorry. Remember how Iâve said this before; that my indecisions were often hurting the people I cared about? This is one of those instances.â It seemed like a good time to let some things out and he felt a bit wary to bring up another guyâs name but at the same time he also felt like it would be necessary to clear some things up and let Hamin know that this wasnât something he had just been considering in the last few days. âYou know, I always told you that I cared a lot about you and that I wanted you to be happy and that was always the truth. I never lied to you about that. After meeting you, you became someone extremely important to me and I know Iâve told you this before as well.â
He gently ran his hands over Haminâs back and smiled softly at him. âBut there was also Taejun whom Iâve known since we were both teenagers and I had been sharing so many things with himâŠIt was never really clear what was really going on between us. I couldnât let go of him, but I didnât want to let go of you either. I didnât want to risk hurting either of you. By doing that though, I filled you with all these insecurities that you just told me about and Iâm not really sure what kind of impact it had on him since heâs about as mute about his feelings as I am but yeah, my selfishness somehow made everything worse. Iâve made my choice now though.â
He couldnât say that he had really planned this. The idea of finally just telling Hamin had come to him after a couple of days spent re-evaluating his life and he had decided that if there was a time to do it, New Yearâs Eve was probably the best time even if it was probably a bit cheesy. Thatâs as far as his planning had gone though. âI canât really say I planned thisâŠ.I mean, I didnât try to come up with some sort of fancy proposal scenario that would have led to me asking you out, but I did decide I would tell you today, or well I was originally planning to ask you after we would have countdown to the New Year but I changed my mind. Does that count as planning?â He sighed in content when he felt Haminâs fingers tangling in his hair and he instinctively leaned into the touch, eyes slowly fluttering shut. âI donât think you can ever really prepare yourself to someone asking you out, unless someone else spoils it for you by warning you ahead.â
There were so many things he had always wanted to do if he was in an actual relationship that he didnât really know where to start. Jongjin looked cold to others most of the time, closed off, but when he was with someone officially, he was loyal and caring to the core, willing to spoil and make his lover happy. âIâll probably bring you breakfast in bed when you least expect it,â he started to say and then let out a loud bark of a laugh when he heard what Hamin said. He hid his mouth behind his hand as he snickered. âMaybe I will eventually, maybe I wonât. Right now I just feel like it would be unnatural somehow? I canât really imagine calling you âbabeâ or âhoneyâ or anything like that to be honest. Iâm okay with the coffee mugs though,â he grinned. âShould we add couple clothing to that and couple toothbrushes?â he teased and leaned forward to press another kiss to Haminâs lips.
âOh but I think youâre still sharp,â he teased again as he moved his hand to poke the left side of Haminâs pelvis. He was feeling so happy that he was actually making lame jokes. It was a bit embarrassing but at this point, there were more important things to care about. âThat saidâŠ.what time is it? Did we miss the countdown? We should open the bottle of champagne to celebrate anyway, screw the countdown. I still want my official New Year kiss though.âÂ
