[ child at heart - yongguk // jongup ]
The boy threw his arms around Yongguk, practically handing off his body. It made Yongguk uncomfortable, it made him extremely uncomfortable.
"Who are you, and how the fuck do you know my name?” He narrowed his eyebrows as he looked down at the boy, looked down at the overly happy, somewhat puppy looking, face. Yongguk roughly pushed the boy’s body from his own, causing him to fall back a few steps. Just why was this boy so excited to see him, who was he?
It wasn’t until Yongguk saw the rather clear, noticeable mole on the boys nose, was it really him, was it really the boy who had been on Yongguk’s mind lately… "J- Jongup?" Yongguk was surprised that he was able to remember his name, that it was in fact the boy that Yongguk remembered so well, that he was still alive. Yongguk remembered thinking to himself, the last time he saw Jongup, that he wouldn’t last in the world that they lived in, although here he stood, before Yongguk, proving him wrong… just like the old days.
Yongguk ran forwards slightly, perhaps too quickly as he gripped Jongup’s head between his arms, pulling the young boy into a welcoming hug, not sure why he did so, but something encouraged him to make sure that Jongup was in fact before him, that it wasn’t just a dream, a part of Yongguk’s imagination.
Jongup nodded frantically, even though the elder man had thrown him from his body. Jongup ran a hand through his hair and continued nodding. He was somewhat hoping that Yongguk had recognised him, as he'd spoken his name. "I-It's me, Yongguk hyung." He said, almost breathless. It had somewhat surprised him when he was pulled into a hug, but nonetheless, Jongup embraced his friend once more, patting his back. Jongup had quite the history with Yongguk. Despite having brother's himself, he had found himself following around the Bang twins at the bright age of twelve, while they were seventeen. He did their chores and brought them things. While they probably weren't the best of examples for young Jongup to look up to, they never did wrong by him, and that he was thankful for. Jongup had noticed how much taller his hyung had gotten, not much muscular, but taller and a little broader. He pulled away and grinned at his hyung. "It really is you. I-It's incredible. How are you, hyung?" He asked, running a hand through the end of his fringe.

"I was starting to think you were dreaming of your dream girl or something, you were smiling!" All this was just a way to tease him, really. She was just pulling his strings since he was asleep he wouldn’t know she was lying anyway. She laughed. With this guy it was easy to relax, though often her less guarded self was only shown when it was in private.
"They aren’t? So you’re the charming one?" She laughed all the more when he whined and pouted right at her. It was a adorable really, and she fond of teasing him and seeing how he’d take it. "Okay, okay, I won’t tell Jungsuk Oppa. Entertain you? I am not capable of entertaining if I was I’d have picked another occupation," she poked his forehead, watching him as he sat there. A soft giggle left her lips, joining him and sitting beside him. She bumped against his arm and shoulder lightly, swaying back and forth. "What do you think it’d be like if this didn’t happen to the world? If there wasn’t any infected. What do you think you’ll be doing right at this moment?"
Jongup pouted, shaking his head. Just what was his ideal girl, he thought to himself. He looked away, up towards the sky, tipping his head to the side. He didn't really know. Jongup had only ever had one girlfriend, and it was really only puppy love. They'd been friends for some time, and one day they both confessed and kissed, and they dated for about 8 months before she'd gotten herself blown up. He didn't mind though, strangely. You had to be prepared for that sort of thing these days. "Please, noona. I have no dream girl." And that he didn't. Jongup would of liked to of thought he was charming, but sometimes he was just so darn awkward. "I can be rather charming." He crossed his arms across his chest, narrowing his eyebrows. Jongup was rather glad that Gayoon wasn't one to tell their superiors about his habits of falling asleep on the job. He laughed. "W-What I would be doing?" He asked again. He thought about it to himself. What would he be doing. What was life even like before this disaster. "W-Well, I would probably still be in school." He said, his hands falling into his lap. He began tracing patterns on his leg. "Maybe I would be travelling. I might have a girlfriend." To be truthful, Jongup didn't really know, and that's why he dreamt. "W-What about you, Noona?" He asked.

A snort left her when he mentioned that he wasn’t asleep, no way in hell was Gayoon going to believe that. “Yeah well it looked like you were having quite the dream there. You can’t lie to me, Little Dipper, and no you didn’t miss anything,” she grinned and shoved him at the shoulders playfully, gently. She called him Little Dipper, the guy was pretty always in his own world, probably searching for something better. Gayoon was no different. Their similarities brought them closer and it felt nice. The concept of family was something she could hardly take in after what had happened to hers but sometimes, the warmth that it offered, it was hard to turn down.
"Are you learning your flattery from your older brothers? You know that doesn’t work. She staggered a bit to the side as their shoulders brushed against each other and she looked over at him, "I’m a bit bored so I thought I’d go for a walk and well, saw you sleeping on the job. Should I tell you to Jungsuk?" she wiggled her eyebrows at him to tease him. She wasn’t going to rat him out. "Entertain me, please." She smiled at him and reached out to rest her hand on his forearm.
Jongup pouted, nudging his noona in the arm gently. "I wasn't dreaming of much, Noona! Really! I only just dozed off." He said, looking at the group. He was taken aback by her gentle shove and laughed, shoving her back gently. Gayoon was so good to him, making sure he was always doing well, staying on the job. She was always there for him, the sister he never really had. Jongup laughed, his hands flying up to his fringe where he ran a hand through his hair. "My brothers are not charming!" Jongup whined, pouting again before his noona. Gayoon's silly threat to tell Jungsuk about him napping made him feel a little nervous and jumpy. Jongup shook his head and grabbed his noona's shoulders. "Gayoon Noona! Don't tell Jungsuk." He muttered, tapping her on the nose with his index finger. Jongup shrugged, sitting back down on the floor, crossing his legs. "Why don't you entertain me for once?"

Yongguk dragged his feet, he had no idea why the hell he was awake so early, he had no idea what he was doing up before noon, but he was. His body was extra tired today, it was such a bad day already… He walked along the wall, searching for nothing in particular, more just something to fulfill his boredom, something for him to do. He had decided to make his way out of the walls, and into the real world as nothing was catching his attention as he had been pacing about within the walls a few hours ago.
He sighed, he had left his bat at home, most of his belongings, something was telling him too, telling him that he’d be okay without them today, and if there was one thing Yongguk did best, it was follow his gut feeling. He had been walking for felt like so long, but he knew deep down it was a little less than three hours. He had passed the occasional person when he was moping around within the city, yet barely anyone he recognized, and the few he did, he avoided their eye contact, hoping that they’d continue walking past him. Truth was, he didn’t feel like speaking to anyone, he just wanted to be alone for the day, find something to do for himself, be selfish for once.
He hadn’t even thought about the infected, finding them and hunting them down, he didn’t want to fight today, he didn’t want anyone, or anything, getting on his nerves, as he would most likely end them then and there. Lately, Yongguk’s mind had been filled with thinking about his past, he thought about how much he missed being a child, having no troubles, no responsibilities, he missed being that way. He missed having a bright, hopeful future ahead of him, if there was one thing Yongguk would change, given the chance, it would have to be the way he bought himself up, the way he dropped all of his childhood friends, the people he considered his family at that particular point in time.
One boy in particular, he couldn’t remember his name, nor could he recall his face… all he remembered was the way he used to look up to Yongguk. The boy was years younger than him, and used to follow his elder friend around, although Yongguk never really considered the boy a friend, he treated him like a slave, both him and Yongnam. They used to make him do their chores, knowing that the boy would obey, to Yongguk anyway, he remembered it felt like having a clone of himself, a much brighter, a much happier clone.
Both Yongguk and Yongnam were late teenagers, and the boy hadn’t even reached his own teen years yet. The two elder twins felt like gods when they were around the boy, they felt powerful, and although most people would have considered them cruel boys, the boy never seemed to mind, hell, out of everyone that came across the Bang twins, the boy was one of the only people who could tell them apart.
He blinked multiple times, removing the thoughts from his mind, there appeared to be a figure up ahead. They leant against what looked to be an old fence, although there stood no building behind it. Yongguk was careful as he walked closer, although as he stood just a meter or so away from the person, they didn’t budge. It was obvious it was a young man, a young, short boy. Beside him, sat what appeared to be his own weapon, a rather clean looking gun. He had no idea what kind of gun it was, but he knew how deadly they were none the less. "He- hello?" He asked, leaning his body to the side slightly, trying to take a look at the boys face. "Hello-" Yongguk squatted down, stepping a little closer to the body. "Are you even alive?"
He felt so foolish asking, if the boy was in fact perished, then how could he answer Yongguk’s stupid question? Yongguk looked to his side, his eyes caught focus on a large, old stick. He raised it into his hands, pointing it towards the boy’s body. He took a deep breath in, and poked the boy’s arm.
It all happened so fast, Yongguk’s body was pushed back, he laid on his back, the wind had been taken from his lungs as the boy now stood to his feet, towering over Yongguk’s body, aiming his gun down towards Yongguk’s forehead. Was this how it would all end, would this strangers gun be the reason for Yongguk’s death…
Jongup squinted slightly, slowly fluttering his eyes open. His vision was blurred, and he was still rather out of it. Sleep had really taken it out of him. He saw someone standing over him, by the sound of his deep, gruff voice, it was a male. It only just struck him that he could have an infected or a bandit hanging over him and he wouldn't know. But then again, what sort of an infected spoke clear enough words to understand, and when were bandits so nice? He grabbed his gun which lay lazily in his arms, and loaded it, pointing it up at the man before him. His vision slowly focused in on the young man. He narrowed his eyebrows and bit his lip, eager to show the man before him who was the boss. He gasped though, slightly taken back by who this young man was. He knew him. He hadn't changed much, only grown slightly taller and had became broader in the shoulders. His dark hair hung in his eyes, and the handsome face of this young man brought a shipment of emotions back to him. He knew him. He really did. "Y-Yongguk?" He questioned, tipping his head to the side, his brown hair falling into his eyes. "Hyung?" He asked again, slowly getting to his feet. Standing, he felt almost sure this was his Yongguk hyung. Jongup widened his eyes, a massive smile coming across his face. "Yongguk Hyung!" He shouted, and with that, he glomped the older male, falling on top of him in an excited daze. He wrapped his arms around his hyung, holding him tightly, even though it wasn't all that manly of him to do so. It had been so many years since he had seen his Hyung. He couldn't help but wonder where their other hyung was at, Yongguk's elder twin brother, Yongnam.

[ our duty. // jongup x gayoon. ]
Losing track of time was a norm for Gayoon. Often times she found herself strolling along the walls or beyond it with curiosity getting the better of her. This was often what she did in her free time, if not, she would coop herself up in her home. The night was cool and Gayoon wanted to be out in the open enjoying the night at the same time, recollecting her thoughts. There wasn’t a lot of things to do, she didn’t even need to list them all down. It was the usual task, guard the wall, see who leaves and tries to enter, protect Zone X and train. This list was set for a lifetime. Though the tasks seemed easy when read on paper she knew well enough that none of this were set to stone. There was no telling on what was going to happen in between or during the shift. There was no telling what would come to the wall and try to get in. It was a routine filled with unworldly surprises and she didn’t mind. It was an adventure.
Upon her random strolling she found herself in one area where a familiar person was supposed to be guarding; however, the guy seemed to be either asleep or was guarding with his eyes closed. Gayoon was hoping for the latter. Sleeping on the job wasn’t very wise. She made her way towards him and reached out to flick him on the forehead. “Yah.” She sighed, this kid, “Don’t tell me you’re sleeping on the job…” arms crossed against her chest as she looked at him; her eyebrow raised as she inquired.
Jongup narrowed his eyebrows and looked up at they who had disturbed his slow, but brilliant dream. He wasn't sleeping enough at night, his mind was always so awake, and yet, he couldn't help but sleep on the job. He frowned, curious as to who had dragged him from his slumber, and it didn't surprise him that they who'd woke him, was his kind noona, Gayoon. "Noona?" Jongup asked, rubbing his eyes. The sun burnt his eyes, and the concrete wall burnt his back, but he slowly got to his feet and smiled. He was glad he didn't need to look up at Gayoon, or down at her. They could look one another directly in the eyes. "I-I wasn't sleeping. I just closed my eyes, lost track of time. Really." Jongup lied, running a hand through his soft, brown hair. He grinned at her and looked around the area he was suppose to be watching. "Did I miss much?" He then asked, stepping away from the wall, brushing his shoulder against Gayoon's. Jongup knew he didn't miss anything, and that she was only looking out for him. Jongup and Gayoon were close. She was the sister he lacked, already having two elder brothers - the Moon household really lacked the presence of women, so whenever Gayoon was available - Jongup would drag her there in a heartbeat. He liked Gayoon's company. They were both quiet, and very withdrawn from the world they lived in. But they brought one another out of their shells, and Jongup was rather thankful that Gayoon could do that for him. He looked back over his shoulder at his pretty noona and smiled. "How is my lovely, noona?" He asked, walking back towards her.

Jongup leant against the cold, concrete wall. He was tired, worn out and quite done for today. The cool metal of the gun in his hands made him only feel numb and even more sleepy. He wanted to close his eyes and fall asleep, but then again - he really wasn't up for someone above him in a higher position to slap him across the head with their rifle. He would have to fight against the urge to sleep, as always. He shook his head, his light brown hair flicking him in the eyes as he did so. He needed a hair cut. Jongup felt as if he'd lost sense of time, and he looked around in search for someone who was on the same shift as him, but as far as he knew - he was alone. He sighed and leant back against the wall, slowly sitting on the floor and closing his eyes once more. falling asleep with his gun in his arms. He dream of a far away place, a place where he was free, not caged.
