Old Furnace Artist Residency is an ongoing body of work that encompasses a long-term art project that relies upon social aesthetics. This project weaves together social sculpture, relational aesthetics, intervention, gesture, performance, community art, and participation art to create a praxis of social justice and art. The underlying principles of the project are rooted in feminist and queer theories of activism that focus on enacting social, political, and economic liberation. Thus, Old Furnace Artist Residency focuses on using art as a tool to weave people together.

thesis has gone live. I will soon be deactivating this tumblr, well it wont be refreshed, and Ill be starting another tumblr to document post-grad life. it’s been a wild ride over these 3 years. Thanks for the follows and such

watch my @tedx talk: #freethefemme–in which i try to unpack the aesthetics of feminist respectability. long hair makeup dresses “feminizing” surgeries/treatments etc. do not make someone a bad feminist! in fact–for trans women (especially trans women of color)–they could mark the difference between life and death! thanks to connecticut college for having me and @calvinklein for dressing me. this was a wild process but i’m glad it’s out
