No frith with fascists.

I made this side blog to have somewhere to sort Norse mythology posts, instead of just liking them. I am slowly learning about the history and myths. I'm not really a practicing heathen, but I do a few small things, since I am curious about it and enjoy some of its concepts. I apologize in advance if I misremember or am ignorant of something!

My favorite beings so far are Thor and Jörmungandr. I don't know much about most other deities, or about heathen practices, but I want to learn :] I am also fond of Odin, Ithun, and Hel, and I enjoy animistic ideas.

If anyone is curious, I enjoy Jörmungandr because he was the being who made me interested in Norse mythology, and I also view him as a symbol of the power of nature that persists in our modernized world. Although he and Thor are depicted as adversaries, I enjoy them as "two sides of the same coin;" to me, they represent a balance between human prosperity and nature's perseverance.

I need to re find it but I remember on pagan forum someone did a survey on Queer pagans and norse gods they worship and everyone expected Loki or Frey to be the highest in the results but it was Thor. It took people by surprise.

More the I think about it the more Thor makes sense as Queer god or Queer affirming spiritually. Having Thor be your protector is very comforting and i find he has very open caring attentive vibe.

I can see in general groups where there’s invisible ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ and rarely anything during pride etc people going for big ol’ Thor but not feeling safe openly talking about being queer and worshipping Thor in these groups. It’s a shame because we should be able to talk about Thor and connect him to anything positive we find in our queer lives too. As openly and safely as Lokeans can be with sharing this.

I've been wearing my mjölnir pendant every day for the past week or so. I've been pretty stressed due to work, but by coincidences keep happening that help me be safe and keep going. And each time I think "wow, Thor has protected me once again."

I'm very grateful because I otherwise have been rather neglectful of the gods, unfortunately. I don't really know what to do with them right now. I'm tired a lot and I need to practice bonding with them. Very daunting.

I think the easiest thing is to just write to them! Write your thoughts about them down and if you get comfortable doing that maybe try writing a letter and saying what you want to say to them! I understand if writing isn't your thing but it does help so much I promise.

Thank you! <3 I sometimes go through "thank you"s on my commute or as I'm getting ready for work, but then I forget to actually write them down. I'm sure doing that would help me.

I also need to get back into researching Norse mythology. I've been tired from work and then wasting what little free time I have at home doing stuff like watch TV and I need to get myself out of the funk. I'm sure the upcoming warmth will help me have energy and connect with nature again.

Another thing I've been wanting to do, but have not done yet, is make small clay figures featuring symbols that I associate with my favorite gods.

how to dispose of offerings (without a garden)

traditionally in the old times offerings were either burned or buried, poured outside into and onto the earth. today most people can't do that due to lack of a garden. here are some ways you can dispose of offerings safely in my experience.

important thing is that you should collect trash selectively always if you are able ! and also think about the already insane food waste we all generate !

incense / candle / anything you burn : make sure the fire is fully out and the item is cold before throwing it out into the trash.

libation (wine, water, milk etc.) : you can dispose of water (water only!!) through house plants. other liquids once accepted / not in use should be poured down the sink.

food / edible offering : make sure it doesnt mold or rot ! once accepted / not in use anymore it should go to the communal trash. [if you dont like "throwing away" food you can donate food / ingredients to homeless shelters from what you have and don't need. and try offering other things than food for the Gods :]] this way you are helping out everyone ! also helping the helpless and poor is devotional in itself and just a nice thing to do !]

cut flowers, plants : once accepted / not in use anymore you should either dry them out or press them flat to preserve them. (it can be a nice home decor/permanent altar item)

seeds, grains : if they are still usable either plant them inside or scatter them during your next walk to feed the birds.

do NOT bury anything in house plant pots if its not composted, because it can rot and damage the plant ! always research eco-friendly ways from trustable sources !

please regularly dust off and clean your altar ! its both about respect and a clean sacred space ! spiders love altars with many items :p
