Wine Bottle
We were assigned to make a wine tag. This is mine. Wino.
For this assignment we took a piece of art and represented it modernly. We got the piece randomly and I got Las Damas de Avignon. I chose to take a picture in which classmates helped me with modeling. I really appreciated their help. In order to keep it modern and anonymous I gave them “Anonymous” masks to wear. Also the panting is of a whorehouse in which being anonymous is important. I took away the color and left it on gray scale. I kept them clothed not only because it would be difficult to get nude models, but because there is no need for nudity to appreciate a woman’s body.
POP Art
A lot of people do not like this style and but I do. This was a classwork where we were taught a bit about photoshop and how to work with it. I was glad to get a little tutorial on it since I had trouble with it.
We chose a famous person, and a quote to represent them. I chose Shia Labeouf and the phrase with what he has been more judge for “I am not famous anymore”.
Art Deco Final
As my final project we got a style and a brand at random. We had to implement the brand into the style and make publicity posters. Then we put them on different things and show them on mockups. I got RedBull and Art Deco.
I still had a hard time with Photoshop at the time.
Art Deco
This is a style from the 20′s in the US. its style is geometrical and it is sed with font from its time.
The assignment was to choose our favorite movie and make a poster based on art deco style. If we are honest there is no wayI could choose a favorite movie but REPO! The Generic Opera is pretty close. Musicals are my guilty pleasure. This was my first time using photoshop and it took me forever.
I now have a better understanding of the program.
Minimalism(o).
A technique in which the most minimum number of elements possible are used to represent something efficiently.
The assignment was to choose our favorite animal, and represent it with minimalism.
International Style Poster
International Style involves geometric figures with simple colors, a quote and a big word using Helvetica font.
We were each assigned a country and from that country we had to choose an important person from whom to get a quote from. I got Cuba and chose Fidel Castro. I designed this poster based off of the Cuban flag. I went through a few sketches before this one. I am glad I did not stay with the first design and I am proud of this one.
My last project of my first semester of IDGD was to figure out what Mexico’s biggest problem was. After I did some research I couldn’t stop thinking of the sources of all the ‘problems’ seen in this country. Sleeping on the ideas, i cam up with this. It is a saying i have heard in the past, and it fits perfectly for this project. Point a finger, and there’ll be three pointed back at you. Meaning, the only at fault is ‘me’.
After I got feedback on this poster idea, I realized that I could have added a bit more text to make it more specific to what I wanted to mean by this phrase. However, I still believe the poster is good just like it is and it attracts a larger audience.
During class we read an article about the boomer generation bashing on the millennial. It was more of a sarcastic reply to the bad mouthing from the millennial side. The assignment was to provide a picture for this article. During this time, unfortunately, I had no great skills for using editing computer programs. So even though this is not one of my best pieces, I am proud of how it turned out.
Not only because the article was written from a generation Y view did I add the brightness behind “Millenials”, but also because even though I respect the boomers, I must be loyal to my own.
Day of the Dead Mask
Representing not only the celebration side of it, but also the mourning side. Not because it is meant to be a happy day, will the families be happy they lost someone.
We were given four pairs of words and we had to use both words and represent them together with a single image. I decided to stick with roses for this one.
Size; Equality Shape; Love Color; Hope Texture; Rebellion
Represents a classmate with the phrase "Natural Beauty".
It is a combination of things she likes and the vibe she gives out. Between the lines, there are words that describe her.
The assignment was to use lines and dots.
Empathy: The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
Demonstrating emotions with facial expressions is not an easy task. From left to right:
Surprised; Disgust; Fear; Fury; Sad; Happy; Dishonor; Love; Anger; Apathy.
This is the tragic story of a suicidal bottle.
A good student bottle does everything just the way it should always be. A good student, with good grades, and good parents. However, it is still lonely and sad. One day, it decides to go to the playground. It is enjoying some time, yet there was still an emptiness inside of it. The water that once was inside of it, does not make it full anymore. From the swings it decided to head on to the top of the monkey bars. The sad bottle looks down, and up, and all around it. At last, it looks forward, jumps out and it falls. Its cap comes off before the insignificant amount of water that was left inside of it, drops out. No one notices it. People just step on it and ignore it as if nothing was wrong. No one cares. No one helps. Until someone finally picks it up and takes him to a peaceful place. Where it can rest. Where it can become a new bottle with new, fresh water that will fill it up. Now it will have new hope. Now it will have a new future. Now it will have a new life,
