Omw to coming up with a nalu (platonic or romantic idc but its lucy and natsu) alternate universe

Maybe its an AU where Natsu's curse wasn't fully sealed away for some reason and maybe in times of heightened emotion he transforms a lil bit. Maybe some scales and claws. Who knows?

Or maybe something went wrong with stopping the growth of the dragon seed?

It doesn't really matter.

All that matters is that Natsu, as a kid, gets all emo at how many people call him a monster, a freak, blah blah blah

And then one day, maybe kid Lucy snuck out during a trip to a town or smth, and somehow some way she ends up finding a distressed natsu with his scales and claws

And she just... doesn't react.

Because at this point, the only interaction she gets that aren't from the servants are HER SPIRITS who don't look fully human either!

Aquarius is a mermaid, Cancer is a crab man, and she grew up no doubt hearing tales and descriptions of the other spirits.

At this point in her kid brain, Natsu's appearance is nothing to gawk at. It's just - oh! Ive never seen that before. Why do you look like that? Are you a spirit? Or is it some kind of magic?

I think that kindness would do a lot for natsu. That easy acceptance and lack of hesitance or fear would leave a permanent mark on him

Did you ever think about the fact that because Gajeel and the others are from 400 years ago, they may recognize some ancient language? Like imagine Levy trying to decipher some ancient text for hours or days only to have Gajeel come up to tell her exactly what is says.

You know how in fics Dragon Slayers would sometimes know the dragon language? I find it funny that something similar actually became (somewhat) canon, bc you can't tell me the language didn't change at all in 400 years 😆
