I Starred on our Midterm ‘Horror Film’

The only copy of this video was saved at our groupmate’s laptop but since it was infected few days after the film showing, his laptop was reformatted and there are no remains of this film (but its memories -na kahihiyan but nakakatawa kasi so, I’ve to share lol).

Yung minsan gusto mo nalang sapakin yung groupmates mo kasi pati artista nung film nyo, hindi nila naconfirm. So, dahil two days nalang submission na ng midterm film project nyo at wala nang time mag shoot. Wala kayong choice kundi isa nalang sa team yung artista. Eh yung kulang na role ‘bata’. Sino bang mukhang bata sa team?

Ako.

So aside from being the team’s director, cameraman, story developer eh artista na rin pala ako. Kulang nalang OST ng short film na to ay “All by Myself”.

I have no choice but to take the role, pikit mata huhuhu. So I let my group mates filled my face with powder to make it look pale. Red lipstick that goes through my lips and some part of my face to make it appear like it’s blood. Black eyeliner on my eyes and dripping red colored water on my cheeks. They actually had to cut my bangs into full bangs and tie my hair into pig tails so my look will suit to a young multo role.

Sa loob loob ko pwede na ako patayuan ng rebulto, pag kami dito hindi pa nakauno, ipasasapak ko tong mga ka-group ko.

Alright, so let’s start!!!

A groupmate cuts me from standing and asked if I would like to gargle some red colored water so my teeth will have some blood effect too. Ang sabi ko talaga, “No, hindi talaga, yan yung di ko gagawin.”

Then we started shooting. It was hella funny, if only I could share our bloopers with you hahaha.

The first take that we had is bad. It does not look convincing. Then we had another take.

Still not convincing.

And another one... 

“Di parin eh.” 

“Jho, kailangan mo nang i-gargle yung blood, para convincing!”

That’s true, ang panget nun shot eh.

So, ladies and gentlemen pakisimulan na yung rebulto ko. Without another word, I took a gulp.

and there... natapos din.  

Fast forward to: Film Showing day.

Hindi talaga ako pumasok. No, I can’t!!!

I asked one of our team members to submit our short film and told my friends I’ll be at school in the afternoon.

So, swerte ko naman pagpasok ko sa Bulwagang Manilenyo, tapos na yung film showing but everyone’s reaction to me are like:

“OMG KA JHO!!!”

“WOOOH SI JHO OH, PALAKPAKAN”

“HAHAHAHA JHO”

“JHO, ULITIN MO YUN JHO”

and I was like “Huh? Hindi ako yun.”

Ayan, intayin nyo lang yun rebulto ko, itatayo na yun sa facade. HAHAHAHA!

Let’s Fly and Never Grow Old

Speech comm final paper :)

Time flies, years go by fast and in this world where time is fleeting and everything is changing, people become the person they wished they should or shouldn’t be: some earlier, some later and some just in time.

Growing up is never easy to anyone: it involves many new things to deal with; it complicates simple things; it demands maturity and it is not just age counting year by year. Thus, it is a lot more complex than one could ever imagine. Some are too excited; yet some are too afraid. In my case growing up is a struggle, a struggle in explaining why I look too young for my age.

Everybody says I look young at my age. I am eighteen years old and yet they say I look like twelve or worst, a six-year old kid. I stand five feet and an inch tall, with a charming baby face and a petite figure. My voice sounds like that of a kid. I am too clumsy and blithe. They say it’s s cute, but being a cute eighteen year old adult does not seem like acceptable.

What is even harder is when people do not take you seriously. They see you as a kid, so you might as well think like one. So, it takes a lot of effort to let them know that you are way better than what they think.

Looking younger does not necessarily mean you have the immature mind. As said by Abigail Van Buren an American advice columnist and radio show host, “Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place”. So keep it in mind when it comes to wisdom… age doesn’t matter. It doesn’t really matter.

 Same goes to the story of Peter Pan by James Barrie, the boy who does not want to grow up. The story presents that growing up is all in our mind. Peter Pan chose not to grow up… not to grow the numbers of his age nor does to grow his physical features, but the way he became a father to the lost boys, how did he protected Wendy and his brothers against the pirates, how did he shown his courage in every quest he faced and how he thought of a wise idea to defeat Captain Hook, would never be compared to any kid. He might be a child, in his age, physical features and attitudes but on his mind and heart he is a man. A man who is so lighthearted, protecting, and courageous, a man who kept his word that forever he won’t choose to grow up, because growing up is nothing but what’s on the mind.

So every time you are being misjudge by this cruel people tell them Abigail Van Buren and the story of Peter Pan. It’s not how you look, but how you think and how you live.

I have tried so many times to present myself like a real eighteen but it never ended up good. Sometimes I think I kind of look like my age but then suddenly somebody will call me “baby girl”. But after all the embarrassment I realized that it would be really hard to present myself as someone  who is not really I am and the best thing that I should do is to accept and take it as a unique gift given to me.

I am no longer affected when people say I look too young, I just laugh at it and never take it too seriously. I accepted the fact that I look like an eighteen year old kid. Sounds awful but what else can we do?

Acceptance is the only thing that we can do when there is nothing else we can choose from or is it not acceptance is the best option that we can choose from. To accept what we are and what we are not is the best way to appreciate what we are really worth for.

People who judge will forever be there. As it is said on a movie, The Dead Pool “Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one” prove them wrong and show them that “more than meets the eye”. It is not age that will define us as a person but what we have made in this world.

Time flies and years go by fast and in this world where time is fleeting let us fly along and like Peter Pan, never grow old.

Bring it Back

It saddens me that the friendship we had faded like that. How I wish we could bring back the good times we had, the laughter we shared, surprise visits and our walks together. I remember the smile on your face, the phone calls and text messages. Can we bring it back?

Bring back what we had before, I am not asking for more. I just want my big boy best friend back. Back to what we had.

Cheer for you when you play basketball, share to me the stories of the girls you lured. Treat me ice cream, walk me home, warn me about boys and tell me I'm your favorite girl in the world. Can we bring back what we had before, I am not asking for more I just want my big boy best friend back with his smile I always like.

Now we old, we grew far apart. We try to keep in touch but time did not allow us to retain what we had. It is sad that it felt like you don't care anymore, you are now happy of what you have, without me in your life. Yet here I am still asking...

Can we bring it back? What we had before, No, I aint askin' for more I just want my big boy best friend back... But now you're happy without me in your life, it is still your smile I always like.

Saturday the 14th

Saturday the 14th —certainly not my day. Awaken from sleep paralysis. Forgot my allowance for the day. Rode the wrong jeep to school. MY LEFT FOOT FELL ON A MANHOLE. Bruised, yet I have to endure it the entire day cuz we are shooting our christmas video in Film. Battery turns low during the final scene. Memory full. Talents are tired...cries to go home. Parents are mad. Talents are hungry. My team is hungry, clock is ticking, it is almost twelve THEN the rain fall. We waited. We waited. We waited. The lead character fell asleep. So yeah, ahuh, you know what it iz. Vodka, anyone? Lol 😂

JUST A THOUGHT

My thoughts flew and reached the time when back then I thought I knew love, maybe lets just call that my puppy love.

You treasure and kept the feeling even its been a long time. You watched him grow from afar. Tho you're not in touch, you keep yourself updated for what he has become. But you know what is sad, he became different from what you thought he can be. You believe he could be someone better than what he has been. But who are you to judge that he is not having a good life. But still, your mind shouts, he could be better than that, oh your puppy love.

He could be a banker, could be a pilot, an architect or whatever but just better than that but who are you to judge that he's not having a good life.

He is a piece of me, I couldn't deny. But how I wish he become more than that. Oh now I can say he's no longer the man I know. He became a stranger I never once knew. Cause you know, you can be a pilot, a banker or whatever you like but just better than that. But who am I to judge that you are not having a good life, after all you were just my puppy love.

Broadcasting with Sir Roy Iglesias is one of my favorite and most exciting subject I ever take!

We started on establishing our own TV Station (not literally, of course) and our group chose "Television of The People" or simply TOP, for our TV Station name.

And since it was a Roy Iglesias class and he could only take lectures at once we were merged with the other block he handles, which is Block 2 (The block of the other half of my superfriends) *party! :)) and so my groupmates were my best of friends and thats what made our TV Station a success(I believe).

Anyway, my Broadcasting class must also be called Logo Making class :)) Because in every activity we had I am assigned on doing logos, backgrounds and all!

Cinemalaya 2012, The first Filipino Independent Film Festival I attended.

??? -my face as we exit the cinema doors.

I really wanted to go back to my seat and ask the tech guys to replay the film. I felt stupid and lost watching an Indie film for the first time. The film was “Kalayaan” by Adolf Alix, an experimental film that started with the story’s ending and ended with the same scene. So yes, I got lost.

Watching a film like that is definitely new to me and I have to watch more!

inlove with film♡

Shiny floors, huge crystal chandeliers, noisy crowd, photo opportunity with celebrities and coming of prominent personalities -these welcomed us upon entering the CCP Main Theater Lobby, yesterday, July 23, 2012 to visit and view the Vintage Movie Ads Exhibit.

The ambiance of Film is everywhere. A lot of people were there since the exhibit coincides with this year’s Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. Celebrities, foreigners, students, professionals and media people where all there to support different entries for the film festival and to view the exhibit at the same time.

The Vintage Movie Ads exhibit is located at the lower side of the CCP Main Theater Lobby. The movie posters are framed and arranged nicely on the wall. Students were taking pictures in the exhibit, some are very amazed with the old film posters and there goes the expressions like “wow!”, “Oh, I like this one!”, “This is funny”, “ooh, it’s beautiful”.

Seeing these movie posters felt like going back to the old times, I wonder how they do the editing of posters before because some posters are very well edited and designed. The movie posters that caught my attention are Arimunding Munding, Binibini ng Palengke, Bituing Marikit and Kalapating Puti.

I am very much happy to view this kind of exhibit.  An art that has been made years ago has remained and forever will be an inspiration for everyone especially for aspiring filmmakers, like me. ♡
