Seth Troxler was someone who, as a group we researched quite a bit. We watched a lot of interviews on Youtube about him. Here are some links to the videos we watched and considered using or used as a group.

This website helped me with my research when i was trying to find out the current, most popular Electro House tracks and if they were different to they are now. Even though i didn’t mention that in my recording i still found that knowing more about it helped my understanding of Electro House and i…
This song is cut down and used in our podcast. Like a lot of the music we’ve used it’s become one of my favourite songs, the beat and edit on the singers voice is so different but so good, You can just feel the beat getting louder and stronger as the song progresses.

Something i noticed when i was researching Electro House is that a lot of people, including myself was wandering why Joel Zimmerman decided on ‘Deadmau5’ as his DJ name. I watched an interview of Joel and he explained then. I also found out later that it explains it on Wikipedia.
"The name deadmau5 started when Zimmerman found a dead mouse in his computer, while he was replacing his video card. He talked with people in chatrooms, and people started connecting him with this story. In the end, Zimmerman called himself deadmau5, as a shorter version of "dead mouse"."

This is one of the three tracks we’ve played in our podcast when we play three songs showing different types of House to fit in with the timeline for the whole podcast. Whilst the songs are playing Josh and Arthur are having a simple, relaxed conversation about House Music and where it originated from.
It’s become one of my favourite songs due to the amount of times we’ve played it and all sung along as a group. I think the way it’s so different to the original because it’s as if his voice is being more appreciated and the beat just smoothly kicks in rather than being too hard and heavy, it’s soft yet effective. It’s probably one of the most catchy songs i’ve ever heard and i haven’t stopped or wanted to stop listening to it since i first heard it.
This interview with Frankie Knuckles is used in our podcast. It’s cut down to what we specifically wanted and what would fit in with the questions we were supposedly asking him. I didn’t know a lot about Frankie Knuckles at the start of this project, i’d never even heard of him, but i’ve learnt that he was very inspirational to a lot of people especially House Artists that were coming into the industry after him. I really like what he says in the interview and think it’s a really good thing to say when he says ‘It was different then because, music wasn’t actually designed for the dance floor, people just wrote really incredible songs and some of them had incredible energy and some of them had a slower tempo about them but they all had something about them’ we actually use this in our podcast and the reason i like it is because even then, he’s saying something great about House Music and that to him and other artists of that time, it meant more to make a great song and for it to mean something to them, than to make a good song to purley be played in clubs.
This song is the track i talk over when i’m talking about Electro House in our podcast. I wasn’t too sure on it the first time i’d heard it but as i kept hearing it over and over it grew on me and i appreciated the song more. I like the way that i haven’t ever heard a song quite like it and it’s very simple with the words and continuous beat but again, like a lot of the songs i’ve been introduced to, very catchy and now one of my favourites that i actually listen to daily.
My era of House Music was Electro. I spoke to one of my friends who knows quite a bit about Electo House and found out that Deadmau5 is one of the most popular Electro House artists. I speak about him during my recording and how he uses the ‘four to the floor beats’. I found this on Youtube but it never got used in our podcast.

This is an interview with Frankie Knuckles we used in our podcast. We made it out as though we had him pre-recorded from a phone call earlier that day which was really effective for the podcast as it allowed us to play with logic to create a similar voice for Arthur as he had the call with Frankie.
Deep and Underground talk notes
The underground scene comprises a range of music outside the mainstream culture. The deep house side contains the RnB disco sounds combined with electronic sounds. There tends to be lots of drop outs that have vast dub effects and then you find long percussion breaks for the DJs to make the smooth long mixes. The scene has produced the likes of Deepeche Mode, Larry Levan and Kerri Chandler and now The Martinez Brothers, Guy Gerber and Apolonia.
