Kanye West Spring Summer 2012 Collection
Kanye West debuted his first collection “DW by Kanye West” today for Paris Fashion week and I must say the much anticipated hype was not lived up to. I’ve been telling you all for weeks that this collection was going to happen and it finally did. I will give Kanye the benefit of the doubt that he is not a classically trained designer but he has been a pioneer is fashion for some time now when it comes to his own personal style.
This collection was “ok” for a beginner, meaning not good and not bad but just a good attempt. The backlash will come from the music fans who think all things Kanye are great when we all know the truth. Kanye should not have shown at Paris Fashion Week because its just too soon & should have presented at Chicago Fashion Week (no shade…) But I will say that Kanye has an eye for fashion & I look forward to more.
This collection was a combination of personal style and the way he likes to see his woman dressed. He used very lush fabrics such as fur, leather and heavy knits. Most of the knits were dresses that were fitted to the body (bondage style) and others were used as jackets over separates. Now there was lots of cleavage baring pieces (which I Love) in various fabrications. The models rocked the runway in gold chains that all said “Yeezy” and Fur was used on backpacks and on jackets. The shoes were provided by Givenchy.

The audience was filled with stars and included Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, designers such as Riccardo Tisci, Alexander Wang, and Jeremy Scott, and Ciara, who tweeted, “KANYE is A GENIUS- TONIGHT was MONUMENTAL.”

Kanye’s music choices were Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard in da Paint” and Common’s “The Light”. Mr. West walked out to take a bow at the end, wearing a simple white T-shirt and black jeans as seen below…
