“Welcome back to the land of the living; metaphorically speaking of course.” Joshua remarked as he watched them slowly wake from their position on his couch. “Seems you may have had one too many and hit your head on the way down last night, took quite the fall from grace, might I add.” He continued, placing a glass of water and some pain relief on the coffee table before them. “How are you feeling?”
cxthmpscn:
“Quit stuffing your face with cotton candy, there’s not going to be any left at this rate.” Caitlyn pointed out, snatching a handful from him before he could object, “The line at the haunted house has died down, come on, I need someone who won’t let me chicken out this year.”
“Can you blame me? This stuff is like crack for kids.” Joshua returned as they walked, shooting the brunette a playful but warning glare as she snatched at the candy goodness he held on the stick in between his fingers. “Seriously? Of all the stalls and games and that’s what you want to do?” Joshua shrugged. “Alright then, let’s get it over with.”
rcseainsley:
Rose stood completely still among the crowd of festival-goers. She wasn’t there, but in an entirely different place altogether. At least mentally. Her visions were random and uncontrollable. but over the years she’d learned to pay attention to small details. Like the clock that read 12:14, and the silver blade with an Ouroboros etched into the hilt that rested on the hunters’s belt - his weapon of choice, she guessed. Or the blonde with cascading champagne-colored curls that was grasped within his hold, his fingers curling around her neck. The last thing she saw before snapping back to reality was his free hand moving to unsheathe the dagger. and a ridiculously devilish grin.
Chills ran the length of her body as she processed what she’d just saw, her mind working in overdrive to decipher it all. Until suddenly, she realized someone had been watching her, and she suspected for a while. “What do you want?” she asked, clearly on edge.
“Come on Rose, you forget that I know you.” Joshua remarked as he continued to study the woman he had come to respect and admire as the leader of their people. “What’s on your mind?” He muttered as the raven haired male came to stand beside her, voice low in the hopes that on her ears would take note of his words.
suttcnwilliams:
“If you can keep a secret, then I may just feel inclined to share this.”
“You really have to ask me that? We both know I’m the only one here that knows how to keep a secret.”
cxthmpscn:
“No, nope, I uh..–” She could have kicked herself internally for being so incapable of stringing the simplest of words together, “Can’t forget that.” Little more than a slip of her mind, the firefighter thing a near unforgettable part of her ex and a myriad of memories of him, a hint of a smile playing the corner of her lips as she tried to focus on mostly anything else with conviction. It didn’t last long, Caitlyn soon simply watching as he tried to work his way with the jammed door instead, “Good, good, that’s..- good.” Despite him being right there, in front of her she felt the familiar flicker of concern and wanted to ask the obvious but didn’t. “Oh, it’s been.. – I kind of,” Lips rolled together and she couldn’t for the life of her find a reason to lie, “I attacked someone, a hunter, I think.”
“Right, ah, sorry.” Joshua remarked, feeling somewhat at fault for her broken reply. He wasn’t here to drag up the past, he was here to help her and contrary to popular belief, confirm she was okay with his own two eyes. As she spoke he went about looking over the door, pressing against it light he confirmed something definitely continued to bloke the other side, stepping back he drove his shoulder against the door with all his might. Whatever was on the other side budged slightly, and with another hard shove the object moved and the door swung open hard on it’s hinges. Her last words, echoed out as the door came to a stop. “Oh --- did you leave them alive?” The male questioned, he had to ask if not for the victim for her own sanity, for he didn’t need ask to know by the look on her face that it was weighing heavy on her shoulders.
quinnadams:
“You’re right, I have no clue why people think it’s a good idea to pour so much shit in their cup. The other day I actually saw someone get like a third of a cup of coffee and filled the rest with cream. It’s like, do you want some coffee with your milk?”, she agreed, peering down at her ice tea. It was too hot for coffee lately, but the sentiment still remained. “Besides shitty coffee, how are you holding up?”
“Some people clearly just can’t handle a plain old cup of coffee. Jokes on them though, if you ask me.” Joshua remarked as he took a sip of devilishly black coffee. “I’m okay --- more worried about the rest of the town, so you know how it is. My sister came out everything unscathed and by the looks so did my friends so, no complaints here. What about you?”
elcnax:
Now this was fun. The town may be small for her tastes and there may be no large downtown to speak of, but perhaps she had found an entertaining place after all. Loud music pulsed as heat radiated off of the bodies grinding against her. She felt the presence of a newcomer and spoke over the sound of the music. “Either you join in and perhaps offer me a drink, or you move along. I am not in the mood to be simply ogled.”
“Yeah --- no, I’ll pass.” Joshua remarked, jaw tight as he clearly felt out of place in such an environment. The clubs had never been his idea of a good night out, hell in his eyes there was nothing worse than, loud music and girting bodies. Sure he loved a good party just like the next but this, this was over the top. “Just wanted to give you this ---- you dropped it out on the sidewalk.” He remarked, extending a hand that held a delicate necklace between his fingertips.
valerie-shaw:
“Should have. Clearly, he got no common sense.” Valerie said angrily, her anger directed at the offender, rather than the man who helped her. “It’s fine. That shit kinda happens if you have an open wound. Don’t go around letting people touch it.”
“It’s ironic really, they call it common sense but it’s not all that common these days.” He countered with a shrug. “Well typically with an open wound people get it looked at or at least patched up before infection sets in, and believe me you do not want that.”
mckenleyxupchurch:
“Honestly? That was given to me by mistake and I’m way too tired to get a new one. Figured maybe you would get more use outta it.”
“I’m not to sure if that’s a compliment or an insult --- guess I’ll take it either way.”
suttonwilliams:
It was instinctual, arms wrapping around her brother the moment he turned, squeezing tight before she released her hold. No matter how well she knew Josh could take care of himself, along with others, she still fiercely worried about him. It was this town, after all. Offering up a tight smile, she gave him the once over, aiming to confirm what he had already told her. “Well, I’m not sopping wet anymore, so I’d say I’m good. Hangman’s Tavern. And no, being stuck in a bar wasn’t ideal; I hardly got to drink.” It was easier to joke about it all now, once the storm had passed and everyone was seemingly safe once again.
Joshua barely caught the slender of the pair as she practically ran into him, arms instinctively returning the embrace before stepping back to give her a once over. Clearly his actions were mirrored by her own doing, worry easing from his brows as he offered a somewhat amused smile. “You were stuck in a bar? That’s --- not what I expected and at the same time I’m surprised everyone didn’t drink then fight to the death what with how tense everything been of late. But you’re okay all things aside?” He added. “Sounds more interesting than it was at the fire station, we were prepared for everything but the flooding. Having every packed in like sardines was hardly ideal but we made it work.”
quinnadams:
Was she really that transparent? “I tried to warn you to get a mimosa, but you didn’t listen. The pumpkin spice is entirely your fault”, she pointed out, feeling at ease for the first time since even before the storm. “Other than that, there’s not much else to share in regards to pumpkin spice lattes. They’re a sugary coffee drink that often comes around in the fall”, she explained, clearly beating around the bush.
“My fault or not that was god awful.” The traveler remarked, wiping his mouth after taking a long sip. Why was it people had to mess with perfectly good coffee by adding unnecessary shit to it, that he would never comprehend. “Well in that case they’re out far too early, not to mention I’m not sure why anyone would pay good money for that.”
savannahpxrker:
“I’m sorry–” Pausing the woman fumbled with her own cup of coffee, staring blankly at the man across from her at the table they were now apparently sharing. “I didn’t hear a darn thing you were sayin’.” She explains, reaching up to tap gently against her hearing aide. “Mind speakin’ a little louder, please? Unless I think you may have gotten the wrong table.”
“I apologize, I thought you were someone else.” Joshua remarked as he offered the blonde an apologetic smile, as he raised his voice for her to hear, noting the device on her ear. “It’s fine though I can grab another table.”
frankie-miralles:
“I couldn’t even leave my apartment unless I had a shift at work and now I’ve had to hire some people to fix the leak on my roof.” The downside of living on the top floor of the building, “So I needed some company and you were my first victim.” Frankie smiled, before turning up to look at drinks menu again, “It’s just a lot of cinnamon to be honest.” She chuckled, “Supposed to be around during the fall season, I think it’s too early for it to be stocked in. I’d say only get it if you’re ready for Christmas.”
“I could’ve fixed it for you had I known.” He offered with a light chuckle. “You say victim like your company is a negative thing, should give yourself a little more credit Miralles.” Josh added with a smile. “Cinnamon huh, in that case I guess I don’t even need to try it seen as though you seem to be relatively well versed in all this coffee chat.”
traveleravery:
“Okay shoot you caught me. Come on, you get free things all the time here since the cashier has like some gigantic crush on you, I figured maybe you could get me like a muffin? See, she obviously hates me. The only pumpkin I like is pumpkin pie, or that in a milkshake. Ice cream and anything goes well together.”
“I’m relatively sure she does not.” Joshua remarked in an attempt to suppress the laughter that built in his throat at the others remark. “This is all just because you want a free muffin? Come on man you’re not really that hard up are you?” He teased slapping the other on the back as he spoke. ”Maybe if you ask her out for coffee you’ll have better luck, did you think of that?”
serenachase:
The redhead let out a smug snort, her lips curling into a smirk. “Nothing beats being holed up in your house with only half a bottle of milk, a bag of raisins and some cans of soup in your kitchen; I was fuckin’ miserable. And it’s just an espresso drink with pumpkin and spice…basically. Just try it, old man.”
“You do realize there were safe zones right? Most evacuated to them before the storm even hit, we had food, warmth and a roof over our heads at least. But I guess you weren’t hurt in the whole ordeal so not harm done.” Joshua couldn’t help but scoff at the remark. “Twenty-eight is hardly old, beats being a fetus though.”
