“Mornings Alone”, age 13.
what I think of when I think of Maine. Painted Dec, 2012.
Wine + paint night. Proud of my trunk lighting.
We're better together (you're the nut).
I started checking out 99designs.com as a way to get random ideas of things to make. I came across a simple business card request, where the client only wanted the domain spelled out. You can view the full brief here.
So knowing not much more than a name, I decided to use this as a simple exercise with font. I felt a dainty American Typewriter suited something a bit cozy and rustic, called Farm House. But I also felt a business called Farm House should fight the immediate negative presumptions that come when you think of a farm. So I chose a very contrasting Abadi -- something strong, sturdy, a bit modern. You won't have roosters flying through the kitchen when you stay here.
Anyway, this was the end product for my imaginary business.
What do you like about the winning design?
My first watercolor. Have not yet figured out how to paint clear plastics, but think I could get into portraits.
Thanks for being such a beautiful model, Leafo.
Trying watercolors again.
Brought Rosita to the Diego Rivera Gallery this afternoon. :)
Hair, bow, and a little more bling left. Looking good, Rosita.
Worked a lot on finalizing Rosita’s shape and skin color yesterday. Much happier with how she’s turning out. Her head will look smaller with hair and shading (I hope).
My dear Rosita, Those arms...
A couple older sketches.
Here are a couple iterations on my poster. Layout issues aside, I'm really struggling with how to represent revenge and guilt. Any ideas?
Tried fixing Rosita's arm shape, but ended up making it huge. Mixing skin color is really hard. Getting pretty frustrated. Might need to step away from this next week & work on something else.
First shot at a movie poster. No limitations this week other than not being able to use images from the movie.
Refined my core emotional value to 'revenge as a way to mitigate guilt'. I like the opposing sides, but need more intensity.
*Tumblr does not want to display this file correctly, so I took a screenshot.
Finished shape & started on color. We'll get there, Rosita.
