i hope you’re okay with bullet points, anon! i tried to make this as fluffy as possible :]
First off, the cutest couple ever. Like, everyone in Castle Town is envious of them.
Loves to pet each other and brush their fur/feathers.
“My dear, your feathers need preening. Here, let me.”
“My love, your fur is sticking out. Allow me to assist you.”
Check ups constantly. Each of them have important jobs, it’s only natural that they become exhausted.
Swatch makes special desserts/drinks for TM.
Cuddle sessions…TM purrs, while Swatch chirps.
Ralsei sometimes catches Swatch gazing at Tasque Manager lovingly when he thinks no one is looking. (Ralsei didn’t mean to peek, honest!)
Today was an especially rough day. None of the maus’ were working properly, and the Tasques were all disorderly. Nothing seemed to be working right, and the Lightener who calmed them down in the first place was nowhere to be found. Don’t get her wrong, the little prince was nice, but she didn’t want to keep bothering him. He had so much to do, after all; keeping a kingdom orderly was much like her own tasks.
The familiar hum of music greeted Tasque Manager as she stepped into the cafe. Everyone else had gone somewhere else for the night. To where, she had no idea. All she cared about right now was sitting down and enjoying the calming ambiance of the cafe.
“Hello, dear,” Swatch said, cleaning out a cup. “How may I serve you?”
Tasque Manager paused. What exactly did she need?
“I don’t know…I just wandered here to calm down. Everything was so hectic.”
Swatch nodded in understanding. She noticed that his feathers were out of place. As someone who liked neat, consistent patterns, she felt she needed to do something about it. So she arose from her seat, walked over to him and smoothed out his feathers, plucking one that was close to coming out. He backed away, squawking. His feathers fluffed up in the most adorable way, and she had to force herself to stifle a giggle.
Her partner was the cutest in the world, and he could always calm her down. Being here already did the trick.
The way his feathers puffed up when he looked down at you, the sheen on his glasses…God, it’s all too much. Since he arrived at Castle Town, all you’ve been doing is sneaking into the Dark World to see him at the café. You’d order a dark candy starfait (thanks to a recommendation by Rudinn) and chat with him from across the counter. Today you were going to confess, hopefully. Kris and Susie had been bugging you about your “gross romance” with Swatch. Just remembering them teasing you makes your face heat up.
Anyway, you need to get back on track. You listen to the familiar creak of the closet door and step into the darkness. It enveloped you like so many times before, transforming your appearance into something more whimsical. You brush the imaginary dirt off of your clothes and begin to trek through the town towards the café. Now all you needed to do was confess! Easy, right?
It was not easy. Swatch greeted you as usual, his feathers puffing up as he craned his neck to see you walking through the door. He was currently serving a Jigsawry, who you remembered had a penchant for lemonade. You leaned against the counter, waiting for your favorite avian friend to come back to the counter.
After a few minutes of politely chatting with the customers, he slipped behind the counter and gave you a dazzling smile. Your heart began to race, confessing was going to be a lot harder now. His feathers looked so soft and fluffy from here…
“Hello, welcome back, young master.” His voice was as smooth as butter, “What would you like? Your usual?”
You hummed in response, watching him work on the dessert. He enthralled you with anything he did. The careful precision he gave to each flick of his wrist while preparing your order made you swoon. You didn’t realize you had been leaning closer and closer until he turned around, your noses touching.
“Ahem— Apologies. I didn’t notice you were so close.”
“Oh. I-I’m sorry!” You apologized quickly, feeling a familiar burn on your cheeks. “I didn’t notice either…”
That answer seemed to satisfy him for the time being. You grabbed the starfait and began digging in. A satisfied hum escaped your lips — Swatch was always the best at making anything. As a head butler, you supposed it was only natural for him to be good at serving people.
“Uh, Swatch?” You asked hesitantly. His full attention was on you now, and he leaned in closer to hear you better. “Do you, um. Do you-“
“You seem to be under the weather. Your face is all red. Oh dear, should we get Tasque Manager to take a look at you?”
“No!” You shouted, alerting the other monsters who were sitting at the tables. “I mean, no, I’m okay Swatch.”
“But your face, young master—“
You sighed, cutting him off. How were you supposed to confess to someone so clueless?
(* You could kiss him.)
Huh? Was that Kris’s voice?
And…kissing him? You had thought about it many times before, but actually going through with it seemed impossible.
(* Kiss the bird.)
Well, you supposed it wasn’t the worst option in the world. It would only destroy the relationship you and Swatch had if he didn’t reciprocate. Where’s the harm in that?
(* Kiss the bird, you fool.)
You steeled your nerves. It was now or never, really. You reached forward, noting Swatch’s confused expression, grabbed his necktie, and kissed him on the mouth. Hard.
He reeled backwards, squawking. His face was tinted red and his feathers puffed up charmingly. Gosh, even when he was embarrassed he was still handsome. He pressed his glasses up, sputtering. You had never seen him so flustered in your life. Mission accomplished?
