“You can’t fool me, Ms. Lane. Consider how valuable an interview with Booster Gold would be!” At least, it should be, but Michael knows it’s not, not really. He never became the famous superhero he wanted, and really the world had thought Booster Gold was dead for so long the name probably doesn’t even mean all that much. And it’s not like he can go around telling everyone he’s working on saving them by fixing the time stream, so.. here he is, forgotten. His smile fades a little, less of his dazzling showman smile and one a little more humble. “I was doing great right up until someone tried to shoot Ted. How’re you doing, how long have you been back?”
“Yeah, but a girl’s gotta have standards,” she teased, rubbing his upper back lightly before she dropped her hand, bringing it back to wrap around her paper cup of lukewarm coffee, wishing she could leech more warmth from it. “Someone shot at Ted? Ted Kord, you mean?” Lois really was out of the loop. “Is he all right?” Lois shook her head. “Barely a week, can you believe it?” she asked, laughing softly to herself. “Still doesn’t feel real. It kind of feels like everything over there was just a really intricate dream.” Nightmare was more like it, some days, but Lois had been fortunate not to get caught in anything she couldn’t handle.
