‘this is my design’
marlene horne was born on may 21st, 1960 in the town of twin peaks, located in the state of washington, united states. daughter of benjamin horne and the woman who would later give birth to her half-sister shelly johnson, who is eight years her junior; her other half-sister, audrey horne, ten years her junior, was born on the paternal side to benjamin’s wife, sylvia horne, with whom she never truly connected with. the only meaningful bond she built on her paternal side came later, with little audrey, though even that never ran as deep as what she had shared with her own mother and with shelly.
she grew up a cinephile, dreaming of becoming an actress, becoming a real movie star and conquering hollywood. she had everything it took: passion, talent, looks; she looked (and still does) like an old movie star with loneliness as her preoccupation. but when she was sixteen, her stepfather, shelly johnson's father, revealed himself to be a violent alcoholic who beat his wife, his daughter and his stepdaughter alike. one day, while the girls were trying to protect their mother, he chained marlene and shelly to a radiator and beat their mother to death with a tire iron. the two girls spent several days beside the corpse before they were found and freed.
that nightmare shaped her entirely, she became consumed by the idea of protecting people, particularly women, from monsters like her stepfather, and so when she graduated from school she surrendered her hollywood dreams, moved to the state of virginia, to quantico in purpose of studying at the FBI academy, leaving behind her little half-sister shelly in the custody of her good acquaintance, norma jennings, and threw herself into a career as an agent, romanticizing her work by sometimes imagining herself as the protagonist of some old noir silver screen picture.
in those following ten years she became, something of a quiet legend within the bureau, a special agent whom many looked up to, but whose level no one could quite reach. fellow agents wanted to work alongside her at least once, wanted to learn from her, even though she didn’t teach and psychiatrists saw her mind as an extraordinary subject of study, so nearly every shrink she encountered tried to get inside her head, which greatly annoys her.
horne possesses a rare and terrible gift, an empathy so profound and so consuming that it functions less as feeling and more as transformation; she does not merely read a crime scene, she inhabits it, reconstructing the mind and the muscle memory of whoever stood there before her with an intimacy that is equal parts revelation and curse, as well as understands not only evil, as it seems, but the extravagance of the tricks with which evil appears to be good. this same sensitivity bleeds into her sleeping hours, where her subconscious, unencumbered by the rational constraints of waking thought, projects the truth of places she has never set foot in and actions she was never present to witness, not nightmares, but luminous and prophetic dreams that arrive like dispatches from somewhere just beyond the edge of knowing and which have, on more than one occasion, handed her the thread that unraveled an entire case, making her a special agent that has resolved the greatest number of cases of anyone at her age, and she is still only in her late twenties.
it did not go unnoticed that she and her colleague will graham were, in some deep and uncomfortable way, cut from the same cloth, so when they can’t get her, they call graham, and when they can’t get graham, they call her and perhaps that’s the reason why they cannot stand each other. or perhaps for causes neither would care to name.
she never once returned to her hometown after moving to virginia that followed, until…….. the night of february 23rd to 24th, 1989, three bodies were discovered in the town of twin peaks: the body of murdered seventeen year old laura palmer, wrapped in plastic on the shore of the lake; the body of twenty four year old edmund corcoran, a psychiatry student at the local college, the hampden college, known to all as bunny, who had been missing for ten days and was found in a ravine on blue pine mountain as the snow there was melting, according to the sheriff’s department, the death was an accident resulting from the collapse of the cliff edge on which the young man had been standing, or at the very least a suicide, certainly not a premeditated murder; and the body of murdered thirty year old man named jeremy olmsted, arranged like the ‘wound man’ deep in ghostwood national forest, the latest victim attributed to an elusive serial killer known as the ghostwood ripper.
it was one of the biggest manhunts in twin peaks history, drawing in both the twin peaks sheriff’s department and the FBI. agents coming from pittsburgh (agent dale cooper, from the department headed by gordon cole, came to investigate the laura palmer case) as far away from quantico (from where jack crawford, head of the behavioral science unit, pulled criminal profiler will graham from his post teaching forensic science at quantico to investigate the newly reopened ghostwood ripper case in twin peaks, tasking him with reporting back to quantico on all developments from afar, and pairing him, to neither of their pleasure, with special agent marlene horne; two rivals and two of the finest agents the bureau had ever produced, bound together whether they liked it or not).
in the course of the investigation, the death of bunny corcoran is declared to be a murder too and suddenly all three cases reveal themselves to be connected… but how? that is what the FBI agents, in cooperation with the sheriff’s department and with the assistance of hannibal lecter (a.k.a. the ghostwood ripper, a.k.a. hannibal the canninal and a.k.a. il mostro di firenze, as later unfolded), a former surgeon turned psychiatrist, then turned scholar, a psychiatry professor in the hampden college, teacher of bunny corcoran’s class and appointed overseer of will graham’s and marlene horne’s mental states, must find everything out together. spoiler alert: it is the black lodge and the aforementioned doctor/professor lecter.
there's no key to manifesting/shifting because none of the doors are actually locked holy shit
(they're open)
shifting is always in the back of my mind.
Everything I've ever perceived can change in every single way.
Literally. I can have so much fun in this reality (which is a direct result of my manifestations) but the moment I rest I begin to remember.. all of this is temporary!! Not in the way it sounds, i intend to leave. I deserve to be happy somewhere else as well, me enjoying my time here never erases the fact I'd stay forever in my dr.
All the people I've shared a piece of my soul with in this reality will stick to me. All my friends from another one will stick to me when I come back here as well. That's what matters, to me, at least. I want to connect and discover parts of me from different people, and shifting genuinely expands that space. I'll infinitely fall in love and cry and just forever feel.
making a taglist so if any moot wanna be in it or anyone really just tell me!!

"How I became a master shifter (+ why methods aren't working for you"
Hello! I've been seeing a lot of disinformation lately, and I've noticed that some people might need help, so I wanted to chime in. I can shift whenever I want, and I see a LOT of limiting beliefs—but I understand because I was once on the other side.
Disclaimer: This is all based on my personal experience with how I became a master shifter.
You'll want to read everything—it's important.
(!!!!! This isn’t an original post of mine, I don’t remember where I found it but it’s from a deactivated acc and I don’t know if she/he’s in another acc on here!!!)
When I see people debating on whether he whimpers or groans but I shifted to experience it
