Huge wave of animation YouTubers hit with demonetization's from AI moderation

Multiple animation YouTubers have been hit with demonetization after being mistakenly flagged as either “generated with AI” or “exclusively for children.”

We have go over those effected, but this is not a exhaustive list, just what we have gathered so far

Rebel taxi received a email from YouTube about how their channel didn’t line up with their “YouTube partner Program policies ” and will not have monetization

The exact policies that were broken were never mentioned in the email, but rebel did figure out what it was

Apparently it was because they talks about old cartoons and YouTube thought that meant that those videos were meant for kids

YouTube responded to a tweet that pizza made about this and told them to basically submit a appeal and wait up 14 days

They eventually got their monetization back, but never received a apology or an explanation on what happened

Out of nowhere, YouTube revoked their ability to make any sort of money for the same reason of “misleading family content”

A lot more have been hit with YouTube’s AI system, with a lot of them being related to animation in some sort of way

Most of these cases say that these YouTubers violated the "Misleading Family Content." Policy, even though none of them did

YouTube’s AI slop detector incorrectly targets Kurzgesagt as other creators fear same fate

YouTube’s system for suppressing low-quality AI content mistakenly targeted Kurzgesagt, leaving the channel with its worst-performing upload

“YouTube’s system for suppressing low-quality AI content mistakenly targeted Kurzgesagt, causing the animation channel to suffer its worst-performing upload since 2013.”

The channel has well over 25 million subscribers

They saw the drop in views on its video about super predators

What was suspicious was that every metric was doing good, good watch time, good click rate, good responses, but YouTube just stopped recommending the video

After contacting YouTube, the channel said staff quickly confirmed something had gone wrong.

“It turned out that YouTube’s automatic AI detection tools wrongly think that our very much human-made videos are AI Slop,” Kurzgesagt explained.

“The channel said the false flag began to “choke” its reach. YouTube reportedly helped address the problem, although Kurzgesagt said it could only hope the bug had been fixed.

Kurzgesagt has since taken the superpredator video offline and plans to upload an updated version within a few weeks.”

Now, Kurzgesagt was able to contact YouTube due to their size, but smaller creators will have a tougher time

The company [VIDIQ] also highlighted a Google Research paper detailing a detection system deployed on an unnamed major video platform. The system reportedly terminated 50,000 clusters containing 130,000 synthetic spam channels over six months.”

“The paper does not identify YouTube as the platform. However, vidIQ believes the system was deployed there because the researchers are Google employees.

It also reported an overturn rate below 1%, which could still represent hundreds of false positives at that scale.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan previously vowed to combat low-quality AI content after a report found 21% of videos recommended to new users were AI slop.

The platform later removed or emptied major AI channels and clarified that repetitive or “unsatisfying or off-putting” videos could be demonetized.”

Four child safety bills passed the senate committee yesterday

KOSA and the CHATBOT Act say they do not require age verification. Their duties still revolve on knowing a user's age.

TLDR;

Four kids safety bills passed the committee

Kosa, The Youth AI Privacy Act, Senator Tammy Duckworth's bill, and the chatbot act

All of these bills require age verification even if it’s not specifically said within the text

All of them require companies to have knowledge of the users age, which is impossible without age verification

The screen act actually is honest about its want for age verification, but “It went nowhere anyway. It hit a 15-to-13 tally, but only because a majority of the committee has to be physically present to vote and a majority wasn't.”

The Youth AI Privacy Act from Senator Ed Markey advanced.

So did the CHATBOT Act from Senator Ted Cruz, with Senators Schatz, Curtis and Schiff as co-sponsors.

Senator Tammy Duckworth's bill makes four, and it orders the FTC and the Consumer Product Safety Commission to study AI-enabled toys, which turns on nothing a company has to know about a user.

A fifth, the SCREEN Act, got a tally and no result, which we'll come back to.”

All of these bills require the companies to know if the user is a minor, which is impossible without age verification and is a major issue with critics

(But the problem is that unless there is another way to find out who’s a minor, age verification is the only way)

But age verification is the only way to do these things, especially since this bill requires the company to figure out who is a child, teen or adult

Bottom line, all of these requires age verification in some kind of way, even if it’s worded differently each time

“YouTube bans lots of ASMR channels in crackdown on “sexual content”

YouTube has terminated several major ASMR channels after accusing their creators of violating its sex and nudity rules.

“in late July 2026, a wave of established YouTube creators suddenly lost their channels, with several claiming they received no prior warnings or strikes.”

“the affected channels include ItsBunniiASMR, Slight Sounds, Nananightray, Roseasmr, Simoneasmr and Janina Wilhelmsen.”

““We have reviewed your content and found severe or repeated violations of our sex and nudity policy,” the termination notice sent to creators stated.”

“Although the emails blamed their content, YouTube later said the channels were actually terminated because they linked viewers to material hosted elsewhere.

“We terminated these channels for linking to content that violates our nudity and sexual content policy,” a YouTube spokesperson told 404 Media.”

YouTube said that their external links rule apply to everyone and is not part of a policy change or to target ASMR

“YouTube’s external links policy prohibits creators from directing viewers to content that would violate its Community Guidelines.”

Creators have fought back and pointed out that YouTube is wrongfully removing their channels, some have which have been on YouTube since 2013, and are treating all of ASMR as “sexual”

Some creators even disputed the sexual links claim

A creator called “Its_Bunnii” pointed out the only links connected to her channel were Spotify links

“This is not the first time YouTube has completely erased an ASMR channel over its sexual content rules.

In August 2024, YouTube terminated Amouranth’s ASMR channel, which had amassed 749,000 subscribers and more than 76 million views.”

While yes some of these channels might’ve been guilty, the fact that innocent channels got hit the cross fire tells you everything you need to know about YouTube’s moderation

Nearly 70% of Microsoft's AI Revenue Reportedly Comes From OpenAI

Microsoft’s AI revenue may rely heavily on OpenAI, raising concerns about cloud demand, data-center spending and long-term growth.

TL;DR

70% (24.1 billon of 34 billon) AI revenue came from OpenAI

Microsoft’s current AI growth seems mainly from selling computing capacity instead of subscriptions

Which could lead to issues since OpenAI hasn’t earned any money from it’s investments (which includes Microsoft’s investments)

So OpenAI falls apart, Microsoft could lose that massive part of their AI growth and be left with thousands of AI data centers

The SCREEN Act failed (not dead, delayed) but KOSA passed the committee. Keep calling!!!

Tell them to OPPOSE KOSA AND ANYTHING REQUIRING A DIGITAL ID AND AGE VERIFICATION! Tell them parental controls already exist and that it'd infringe of freedom of speech!

BAD NEWS:

The Senate Commerce Committee voted to advance KOSA in the markup. The committee's approved version keeps the controversial duty of care provision intact, setting up a major legislative clash with the House of Representatives.

GOOD NEWS:

The Screen Act did not survive the markup! 🎊 (Update: @cofa said it will get a revote! This is ridiculous! I hope it gets shot down again!)

You can read more information on Politico or watch the video on the Senate Commerce Committee site! It's only an hour it was very short! I was surprised.

In the article from Politico/Markup Marsha Blackburn (R) (She is for this bill) said this:

“The Senate cannot and will not accept the version that the House passed earlier. It is toothless, and it is a very pale imitation of the Senate version, and therefore, it is a pale imitation of big tech accountability,” Blackburn said during the committee markup.

(Marsha and crew for these laws GO GET DUNKED ON IN THE SENATE ! Also, this woman looks and sounds like such a Karen literally look up a picture of her. She looks like she calls the cops on her neighbors for having a bbq.😂)

Anyway, from what I watched, this is going to be a HUGE fight in the Senate. This thing is all over the place it's awful to even listen, too! I would LOVE to see them get laughed out of there!

Who started this bill?

Mr. Kim (for himself, Ms. Lummis, Mr. Schiff and Mr. Barrasso) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Summary from the page:

To require operating system providers to require users to indicate their age and developers of applications, covered internet website operators, and browser providers to request a signal from operating system providers that indicates a user's age, and for other purposes.

Breakdown of the bill:

1) It makes operating systems verify your age

When you create or update your device account, you must provide your date of birth. The operating system (such as your phone or computer's OS) determines your age bracket.

2) It shares an age bracket with apps and certain websites

Instead of giving apps your birthday, the operating system sends only an age category: Under 13, 13–15, 16, and 17+. (I'm guessing you would give your birthday to the operating system or something? They are highly unclear how they will go about this.)

3) It requires parental links for minors

Users under 17 must have their account linked to a parent or legal guardian's account (with an exception for emancipated minors).

4) It limits how age data can be used

Companies can not sell age bracket data. They can not use it for targeted advertising, profiling, or combine it with other personal information.

5) It creates enforcement and penalties

The FTC and state attorneys general can enforce this law. Companies that violate it can face civil fines, with larger penalties if violations affect multiple minors.

Problems with this bill ⭐️🚩:

- So what is gonna stop a minor from making an 18+ account when they set up a device? (Most minors I know if they are old enough like teens set up their own devices.)

- Once the infrastructure exists, Congress or states could later expand what it is used for. (I do not trust the government. Today's voluntary age information could become mandatory government-ID verification later. They could literally request all your highly sensitive info one day. What there to stop them if they implement this?)

- Adults will possibly not discuss sensitive topics if they think their age is being tracked. Minors will lose access to educational or support resources. Vulnerable groups will also lose access to needed resources or online platforms. Platforms may over-restrict content because they know a user is a minor.

- Operating system providers would still need to collect sensitive age information. (Your birthday is the most likely thing they would ask for if not ID WHICH is still personal info!)

- Centralizing any information creates an attractive target for attackers. Any large database containing age related info increases data breaches. We have seen this in the past with Discord, Google, Meta, etc.

- This puts a huge burden on open-source software. It also would be costly for them to make. So how are they gonna fund a system like this? If they plan on using taxpayers money a BUNCH of people will have a problem with that!

- Minors can still access adult content through shared devices and they will definitely find ways around age restrictions like they already have.

This is also being considered on an individual state level. The same stuff happening in California, Colorado, and Illinois but this is on a NATIONWIDE level! SO check your state! Remember that these states are and will be sought after in lawsuits because: THEY ARE BREAKING MULTIPLE LAWS!

⭐️Solution: Contact your reps about these bills. If you see any petitions sign them. Protest this bill. Raising awareness is also SUPER IMPORTANT! ⭐️
