See, I only date hood. My last man? He never even met his father. Four women, six kids. Three of whom are named after luxury cars. Child support?
Ross Gay “
Some Instructions on Black Masculinity Offered to my Black Friend by the White Woman He Briefly Dated”
(via dgreer8)
This quote shows how racial stereotypes can be detrimental and deadly to relationships.
“…dead meat. butchered girl chopped up & cradled in styrofoam. you candid cannibal.you want me bite-sized no eyes clogging your throat.”
-Franny Choi, “To the Man Who Shouted…”
Franny Choi creates a nasty sounding asian cuisine meal to show how equally disgusting objectifying women is in every day life.
Low Standards for Whites
It doesn’t take much at all for a white person to be considered good. As long as they avoid killing someone themselves, no one is going to demand anything else of them. Whites don’t need to do anything decent for anyone, especially not people outside of their own family, and yet, everyone will assume that they are good people. Even when whites do undeniably harmful things, American culture explains it away.
Whites don’t have much to prove in life. Let’s talk about that.
“On #Ferguson, you could watch six simultaneous live streams. You could read what protestors were tweeting, what journalists were reporting, what the police was announcing, and how observers and analysts interpreted the unfolding events.”
Low Standards
“...but do we truly change anything about American education? No! Heaven forbid that white teachers would have to do better. Heaven forbid that they’d have to keep growing and learning. Heaven forbid that they be held accountable when whites are the only students that typically blossom under their guidance.”

Blackness as the Second Person
“Because I think poetry has no investment in anything besides openness. It’s not arguing a point. It’s creating an environment. Whereas if you were writing an op-ed piece oran essay, somebody would be asking, “What’s your point?” With poetry you can stay in a moment for as long as you want.”

“They achieve themselves to death trying to dodge the buildup of erasure.”

what does it taste like: a takeout box between my legs. plastic bag lady. flimsy white fork to snap in half. dispose of me.
Dear White People
Dean Fairbanks: Your show is racist.
Sam White: Black people can't be racist. Prejudice, yes, but not racist. Racism describes a system of disadvantage based on race. Black people can't be racist since we don't stand to benefit from such a system.
This shame is only comparable to the systematic eradication of indigenous folks on lands now called the United States.
—- Richael Faithful
This text is true about almost every minority in America, however, today, the government thinks it is ok to throw money at a problem and hope it will fix the issue instead of digging deeper and eradicating the root of the problem.
#BlackLivesMatter Kitchen Talk
“The struggle for Black liberation has a very long history and we shared in that history during our meal. We talk. We build. We fight. We love. We work. We try.”
-Richael Faithful
