That's my take on them
Anti-piracy ad from 2004
It's even funnier when you find out that they had to stop using this ad because they were using music they didn't have the rights to
"don't mass reblog/like :/" coward. fool. somebody just went through and liked and reblogged 64 things from my blog in the span of half an hour at most. and i've never felt more alive in my life
This isn't Instagram, my darlings. It's not considered creepy (except by people imported from Instagram and frankly they need to learn the culture HERE before trying to boss anyone around) or weird or particularly distressing. Many of us don't even look at our notifications to realize that you've done it.
And frankly, I put that on my blog to bring me some joy. If it brings you joy too, put it on your blog along with the next fifty posts in the same theme. (If you're reblogging my fics, thank you, I love you 3000.)

that's only one mice?
Another thing I've noticed working as a children's librarian is like... kids get so Paralyzed By Choice and the adults in their lives never really register why. Like, for example, we have little scavenger hunt sheets in the children's section and when a kid completes it, they get to pick out a cute eraser from our prize basket. We also have a little toy prize chest as part of our "1000 books before Kindergarten" challenge for when kids complete 100 books--and kids will spend minutes carefully picking through everything while their parents are shooting us anxious looks like "sorry they're taking so long! I know this is silly and it's completely ridiculous that my child is taking so long to choose between a bath toy and a cube puzzle because these are cheap and arbitrary objects! Hurry up, Harper! Just pick something! You're embarrassing me!!" But in the kids' perspective, they already have so little control over what objects come into their lives, and in this case, the object represents labor and effort on their end, so of course they feel they must choose very carefully. I've always been an anxious and indecisive person, so it's striking to see how being rushed really doesn't help that and really only makes it harder for kids to figure out what they want.
“At what point are we told we’re supposed to just wait for it to get worse.”
We salute a working class hero 🫡
“I know so many women that haven’t defended themselves in situations they definitely should’ve and could have because we know that the repercussion more likely than not is going to fall on the woman that responds to the violence than the initial violence inflicted,” [Emma Lee] said,
quote from the article, including the name of the cool hammer lady ^_^
Thinking about when I worked for honey baked ham and whenever we got busy our store manager would recalibrate the pricing scales to make hams more expensive per pound and most hams landed around $80 naturally so sometimes you'd get an 8lb ham for like $110
It seems expensive already but white people really like overpriced ham for some reason
Also this isn't me being funny I genuinely mean we would literally have a line out the door and wrapped around at 7am almost exclusively white people who wanted a $120 ham for Easter
Today I cried a little bit because I remembered that when Beethoven conducted his ninth symphony for the first time he got a standing ovation and one of the sopranos had to turn him around to see the audience.
I have never recovered from this illustration by Scott Cameron for Barbara Nichol’s “Beethoven Lives Upstairs.”
coworkers under 35 love me for my cowboy bebop jacket, coworkers over 35 love me for my cd player, management loves me for my mental illness-fueled punctuality. everyone feels vaguely wary of me for my overall poor impression of acting like a human
I love you old lady who called the new trains shit right to my face. I'd love to agree with you out loud but sadly I cannot
It's interesting that the passengers who boast that they earn big bucks are the same ones who don't want to pay for a ticket that's less than 2€
New trains, new ways to disappoint passengers
I'm so tired of this.
The constant sleep deprivation
No time to eat
The stress
Shitty passengers
The loneliness
That feeling that every higher up and coworker hates you
Can someone please tell me what kind of a person has the bright idea of sending only one (1) ticket checker for the whole ass train (tiny bit over 100m) on the ride that most people take to work (work train) so it's fucking filled to the brim?
Just doing that is hard but manageable, but the fact that it was the line where:
We have to check tickets with 2 different apps (and one of them doesn't want to work
Inhabitants of that city have special tickets (that don't always work) and they have to show the their documents for it (and they never learn to get them ready)
So can someone seriously please tell me who had the bright idea to send only 1 worker
Now presenting, in the order of appearing, the passengers who have pissed me off (this shift only):
A drunk pair, that decided to a) drink on the train and b) loudly complain that I asked for documents that prove that the discounted tickets apply to them
An invalid who didn't have an ID with him
A passenger who yelled at me because apparently I came to check his ticket too fast
A passenger with a dog that didn't have money for a ticket and decided to act bashful about it (as a bonus point the dog didn't have a muzzle, which is required for transporting a dog on a train here)
A religious nut who asked an age old question and when he wasn't satisfied with my answer tried to preach the bible to me (also a bonus he was rolling cigarettes and took a picture of me)
A bratty teenager that just wasted my time
The new train
A child called me a bunch of names such as: pedo, gay (derogatory), idiot (I remember this child from a different ride, he tried to huff deodorant and almost passed out from that and the driver told me to watch him, that's why he hates me)
Previous "workers" stopped me and asked why do the new trains keep breaking down (I only know the gist of it. I am NOT an engineer.)
Someone profusely apologized for "misgendering" me (like what's the goddammed fucking deal? Why do people care what's in my pants. I do my god forsaken job scan tickets and sell tickets. What's in my pants is not fucking important!)
Passenger decided to try to cheat the system to save 0,40€ in the end I got an infraction and he only had to pay 0,90€ (I want to go on a murder spree)
The dudes who gave me an infraction suggested that I write my resignation because I said I'm tired
Now some good things that have happened on this shift (not in order, still the same shift):
