Yup!
‘the average woman owns 16 bras’ well shit i didnt know the average woman was made of money
“average woman owns 16 bras" factoid actualy just statistical error. average woman buys 0 bras per year. Titys Georgina, who lives in cave & wears over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
Okay, sure, owning 16 is possible, but I guaran-damn-tee that only 2 of them will actually be wearable. The rest representing dashed hopes and wasted money.
A new doll arrived today. Sadly, once I got her out of her Dumbo suit, I discovered a broken arm :( A small hand drill, a toothpick, and some sealant later she's now sporting a washi-bandage while it cures and I suppose an Obitsu is in her future. In the mean time, she got a mini makeover with a new wig and clothes and will meet the rest of the crew this weekend.

Hiii ! I'll take that like as a sign of interest (but if it wasn't, I'm sorry for bothering!) ! I' glad you want to chat ^w^ Do you feel comfortable using skype or do you prefer anything else? Have a nice day!
Hi! I'm a fellow Pullip family lover (mostly J-Dolls and Dals, I have my first Byul on the way) and I don't do a ton of customizing (mostly redressing and rewigging so far) but I'm happy to talk dolls. Or, well, I'm not on Skype very much, so not as much talking, but I'm open to email/text/tumblr convos of any stripe :)
Kasia (Dal Monomono) and Ian (Taeyang Shade) participated in some holiday swaps this year via Dolly Market and The Dal House. Kasia got several outfits and accessories [some of which she shared with Poppy (Yeolume Podo)] while Ian got a very surprising gift of a minion. We're still defining the new girls' role in the Dollysphere, lol. I've assured him that nude dolls will not be routinely arriving via mail addressed to him!
Kasia (Dal Monomono), ready for adventure!
Signal Boost: What to Feed Your Raiding Party is having a sale!
Crossing the streams between my comics/food work and my dolly obsession, but it's for a good reason.
Among other things, I am the author and illustrator of What to Feed Your Raiding Party, the comic book cookbook that challenges gamers to cook their way out of the fast food dungeon by making cooking into a game. I was supposed to be at a convention this weekend but life interefered and I had to cancel a couple weeks ago. Of course, I still have the inventory that I ordered for the show, so that's where the sale comes in.
For the first time since it's release in June, 2012, What to Feed Your Raiding Party is available at pre-release prices!
If you need a bit more info on the book, here, have a video a fan shot at last year's Ancient City Con:
So, instead of being in New Orleans for the next 3 days, introducing people to my book in person, I'm trying this big push online to help pay my printing bill. Here's the deal:
$5 off the cover price of the book
Free shipping (another $5 value)
1 in 8 books will be upgraded to an Artist Edition as an additional thank you!
Gift wrap (with it's cute D20 tag) is still available!
And, if you know for sure that you'd like an Artist Edition (which comes with a sketch on the dedication page), go ahead and order it (for only $5 additional instead of the usual $10--that's like getting the Artist Edition for free under normal circumstances) and if your book is the one that wins the upgrade, I'll refund the $5 AE fee, so you're not out anything!
This sale will run from noon on Friday, October 3 (i.e., right now!) until 6pm on Sunday, October 5 (all times EDT), but don't wait--go ahead and place your order with the handy little button below! They make great gifts for the gamers in your life, cookbook collectors, friends and family away at college or in their first apartment and, yes, as much as we may be loathe to admit it, the holidays are right around the corner!
>>Order your copy now!<<
And if this isn't the right time for you to order, would you be so kind as to share this post so that others who might be interested in it will see it?
Thanks!
If it fits, I packs!
The time has come to start packing up the office for the move to the new house, so it seemed as good a time as any to take a group shot of the dolls. My obsession now totals 6 J-Dolls, 4 LPS Blythes, 3 Mini Pullips and 2 Mini Dals. Not pictured (because they have their own boxes) are my two Ai dolls.
(And just so no one worries--this was a will-they-all-fit-neatly-in-a-12x18-box test; padding was added above and below before the box was all sealed up.)
The idea is that once we get moved into the Gingerbread Dollhouse (an old Victorian), I'll have the space required to put together their home. It's shaping up into a boarding school type of place in my head, so we'll see what comes of it!
What is the anime?
Madoka Magica
I've added a new doll to the house, and this could be my "gateway" doll into ball-jointeds--I figured she's be good to investigate how they're made and all before sinking several hundred into a resin girl.
She's an Ai from Jun Planning, ordered from Amazon. Looking through the dolls available, of course I opted for the "chef" doll, and of course she had to see what I was up to in the kitchen the night she arrived. These names are all named after flowers; she's Matricaria, which is Chamomile. She'll need a tea party soon, I think.
Already I'm intrigued by the removable wig, the ability to stand on her own, and debating whether to try and mod some eyelids onto her eyes to make them look less like apple seeds. But she's cute, and I like her more than I thought I would.
Merry Christmas!
This is Ellie, short for Eleanor and named after Nellie Cashman, an Irish-born prospector and entrepreneur in the Wild West days of America.
She's J Doll Mohave Street, redressed in knitwear by moi (from the Blythe patterns on Knitty--still working out the kinks on getting the coat to fit the Pullip body, but I'm getting there), with her original boots.
Ellie is my no-nonsense business woman (naturally), more relaxed and straight-forward than her French roommates. She's slightly less than thrilled to be starting her day with tea, adding a coffee maker to the wish list for their home (along with repainting the ever-present pink furniture!).
This is Dina (short for Ondine). She's my ladylike, ultra-refined girl--but, then, she was named for a princess.
She's a J Doll St Sauveur but, obviously, needed a better name than even a fashionable street or shopping district. I decided to look into local (in her case, French) folklore and fairy tales for name inspiration and came across the story of Blondine, Bonne-Biche and Beau-Minon. Blondine was a bit too literal for me, though, so we shortened it to Ondine, or Dina for everyday.
There are plans to recreate parts of her origin story, once I assemble/create the right props. For now, she's just a simplified version of her as-sold self: the skirt is the underskirt from her original outfit, the shoes and socks are original, and I knit the little sweater for her from a slightly-adjusted Blythe hoodie pattern. I also took down her pigtails and gave her a single side braid for now.
The little book was borrowed from a Shakespeare (in)action figure--though he wasn't too keen on giving it up I can tell you! Shakespeare needs to learn to share, apparently.
I Gave In!
I'd been thinking about creating an account for a while, but didn't really have a great reason to other than the desire to easily reply/comment to a friend's post from time to time. Besides, did I really need another site to keep up with?
I have a regular blog, twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, etc. etc. etc. I was connected enough, I figured.
But then I bought some dolls. And my usual m.o. is to research the hell out of a new fascination (thought this isn't really new, I'm just finally indulging in an interest I've had since I was a kid) and gobble up any and all info and inspiration out there. For this, I was mostly looking for pretty pictures. And that's where tumblr seemed to excel.
I suppose I could just RSS a bunch of random feeds and pin my favorites to Pinterest, but instead I decided to go ahead and sign up here. This way I can keep random doll pics from overtaking my regular blog and keep up with other doll updates in one spot.
That's the plan, at least!
