At the question, Cedric raised an eyebrow. It was perhaps not something he had ever thought of, and nibbling gently at his lower lip, he seemed now to really consider it. “Rain’s cliche, right? Like, I can’t say rain?” Nostrils flaring, he ran a hand through his hair, giving a shrug. “I mean, I got this new soap that smells pretty good. It’s called, like, Arctic Crush, though. And I don’t really know what that smells like. But that’s sort of how they name guy things.” He laughed. “How about coffee? Coffee’s a good smell.”
“Rain is very cliche, but it’s cliche for a reason.” A soft giggle was subdued. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to put you on the spot. It’s just good to keep up with what smells are in in my business.” She thought a moment. Head tilting to the side. “Arctic Crush? I’m guessing some type of cologne type of thing. Coffee is also a great smell you aren’t wrong.”
“Saffron, lime leaves, coffee and burning wood, ylang ylang”, Maddox said with a shrug. He was just sitting around with his notebooks and millions of pencils. He didn’t mind the interruption, he could draw and talk at the same time, and it was a really interesting question. “I’m also extremely biased to wine, but it’s not really a… fragrance. Like, I don’t want my cologne to smell like wine.”
Jasmine marveled for a moment after the older man delivered his answer. “Wow.” A smile shaping into her voiced reaction. “Those are interesting answers. Thank you.” She scribbled them down along with ‘wine’ and a question mark next to it. “If it’s light enough, it might make for an interesting soap. Just enough to smell the wine while getting clean. But, genuinely didn’t expect to hear saffron and ylang ylang from anyone. That last one is the first time anyone’s ever told me that. It’s a great pick.”
Elanur didn’t get too many days off, not in her last profession and not in her new one. However, she used those special and rare gems to do things that she enjoyed, like exploring the city on her own. She found a cute shop that smelled wonderful from the outside and decided to step in. She was looking at some of the candles and moved on to the soaps when someone spoke and she turned to find a young woman there. “I like vanilla. Is that too overused?” She wondered out loud. “Woodsy smells are nice. I’ve never been a huge fan of fall scents other than those.”
“Would it intrigue you to know I have a vanilla pine scent coming out in both candle and soap form sometime November?” The woman tilted her head with a rather sweet smile. “There’s nothing wrong with not being partial to certain smells. Like, for instance, I can’t stand the smell of artificial grape. Way too much like children’s cough medicine.” The bridge of her nose crinkled.
Colin was interested when he noticed the other tapping on her notebook and he figured she had something up her sleeve, but when he found out she might need his help with something, he eagerly said, “I think you should do cologne type of scents or trees like in the woods.”
“Like a musky smell or specific brand, because I can’t afford paying royalties and whatnot to companies.” She snorted softly with a shake of her head.
“Well, that really puts me on the spot. I’m gonna need a minute.” She then thought about her favorite scents and told the other, “I like that wood smell, but also a nice beach smell. I don’t know, maybe something homey if it’s during the holidays like a pie or even a cupcake.” She shrugged.
“What kind of woods? Maybe a driftwood to tie in that beach thing?” Her mind was churning for various combinations to match that. “The holidays are coming up...” She stated more so for her sake than the other woman. “How about for that, you add the feeling of homey with maybe an oak mixed with some honey and cinnamon? Possibly nutmeg, too.”
Jasmine was currently in creative limbo. The itch to concoct some new scents for her shop without much ideas on where to start for basics or even perhaps a theme. Nails tapped at her small notebook she always kept handy. Restless. “Hey, tell me some of your favorite smells. Like, in the world. Ever. One you’d like to maybe bring up and smell whenever you can in your own home, for instance.” @chicagcstart
“No. That’s her. It’s totally her. Yeah, yeah, see, she has the tattoo of the butterfly under her ear. I loved that tattoo. Like, it was a good tattoo. Shh. Shh. Keep your voice down. I don’t want her to see us.” Buzz had roped the nearest warm body into this little espionage mission, hidden behind a shelf in the grocery store to spy on a young woman now in the checkout lane. He narrowed his eyes, ducking out of view as she turned in his direction and sending a box of sugary cereal toppling onto his head. “She told me she moved to Australia. I mean, I know she probably didn’t actually move to Australia, but she broke up with me over text message. Ain’t that awful? Should I go over there? I should, right? Quick. Pretend we’re together so she thinks I’m over her. Laugh like I said somethin’ real funny.”

As the man rambled on, Jasmine couldn’t help but wonder if he was on something. Prattling on to a stranger such as her in a grocery aisle of all things when she was just trying to reach the Cinnamon Toast Crunch he was using as a shield from this butterfly tattooed woman. She held in a sigh as the box that fell was her cereal of choice. Good enough, she thought and put it into her basket. Then glanced over to the woman coming their direction. “Ha, ha?” An unconvincing flat laugh-- If anyone could call it that.-- was provided from her lips.

Growing up in the mile high city was great and when her family made the move to NYC just as she was hitting her teen years proved emotionally difficult. Still, she managed to adjust despite yearning for her old friends and familiar places.
She’s best friends with @athenabelle-t & moved in with her a year after high school.
She has two one year old Somali cats who are litter mates, so, siblings. A ruddy girl named Tifa and a fawn boy named Cloud.
College was never a dream or goal of her’s so instead she just cheers on her bestie while going down her own path.
She has a rather successful business that she started when she was nineteen where she sells her own scented candles and soaps to local stores around the city.
You wouldn’t know it to look at her but she’s a bit of a nerd for movies and games alike and has a large shelf in her room above her desk dedicated to her precious Funko collection of characters from them she adores.
Personality wise, she’s easily seen as feline like both with her lean alluring stature as well as her more independent personality.
Connection/Plot Ideas: (again tweaking and such totally up in the air)
Neighbors: Of all types really. Could be on good or bad terms. Maybe you’ve had some of her cooking before or she can’t stand you always being too loud or whatever, really.
Although not a super fan of the outdoors, you could see each other a lot when her camera is in hand. Snapping photos for her candle labels she makes.
Possible romances: From tinder dates, crushes, to possibly more.
As usual, bad brain but up for pretty much any and everything you got so like this or comment or dm me for something!
Eva had taught herself how to replicate Shamrock shakes years ago. She didn’t actually need to go to McDonalds anymore once they were out of season (and while they were in season but it was a habit.) And she found herself going in there less and less as the years went on. She preferred cafes and diners but she was in one today, hoping today would be the day she liked their iced coffee, and yet when she looked through the order screen, under shakes was her drink. The shamrock shake, she ordered it without hesitation and with the biggest smile on her face she found a table to sit at to do what she always did write. But not for work, no she was filling her blog now. A way easier task than her work related articles. And it was a twitter based advice day. She only had twenty questions but she was eternally grateful for those questions.

Lunch hour rolled around and the entrepreneur was thoroughly grateful for the break. As much fun as her small business was, the boring bits of bills and management needed tending to and today was a day she’d forced herself to tackle as much as she could. She got herself a freshly made fish fillet meal with a peach sprite and sat down. Currently stuffing her face when eyes glanced over to see a vaguely familiar face. Introvert that she was, she wasn’t about to break the ice in awkward hellos on off chances she was wrong or the other didn’t recognize her as well. Instead, just pondering over where she could place that face rather than the tedious numbers she’d been working on all morning.
“We are, indeed! Maybe we should print the recipes? So we don’t have to look too closely at the screen?” She looked at her friend before moving around to continue working as per the recipe. She was getting more excited by the second, not knowing if that was even possible at this point with how excited she was for the cookies! “Exactly. We’re doing science a favor, you see.”
“Okay, sorry. My brain.” Her lips vibrated together for that deflating noise and eyes rolled on top of her hand making a circular motion away from her temple to show a crazy state of how it was getting away from her. “You want to start on the red velvet or meringue ones next?” She was currently mixing the dough and it seemed about ready. “I can grease up the pan and start getting these ones ready for the oven.”
Rosemary: Do you prefer candles, a fire, or string lights?
“If I don’t say candles, that’d be weird, right?”
Honeysuckle: What comforted you as a kid? What comforts you now?
“My Eevee doll. I got her when I was about three and I’ve had her ever since. Currently, she’s perched on a shelf above my bed and what comforts me now are my two kitties and my best friend. I need all three for maximum comfort.” @maevalucie-b
Edelweiss: If you could be in a fantasy novel, what would you be like? Would you be a mythical creature? A hero? A mentor? Where would you live? What would the world be like?
“I’m not quite sure...? I’d like to be some type of fairy maybe or that cliche vampire. Something mysterious, dangerous, and dark, but also quite beautiful... Wow that sounds arrogant... Maybe a hidden soft side. I guess that could be something like a hero with a twist? Maybe a reluctant heroine or something like that somewhere deep within a forest or a dystopian city, maybe... My thoughts are all over the place for this.”
Jasmine: Do you prefer sunny or rainy days?
“I love the sound of rain, plus it always makes me feel so calm being able to watch the rain fall from my window, so, that.”
Lavender: Do you drink tea? If so, what are your tea preferences – flavour, mug or teacup, hot or iced, caf or decaf, etc.?
“Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey right out of the pretty cans. I drink that nonstop. That or starbucks has a lot of good flavors of iced tea, I like. In fall and winter, I’m also a fan. I’ll either drink hot tea or apple cider most of the time. Uh-- I guess regular black tea for that? I don’t know, I don’t really get fancy hot teas. I do have a mug that I love, though. It’s my special Jasmine mug I got a few years back for a birthday present.”
Cherry Blossom: Tell us about an average morning for you, on a day you have to work, and a day you have no plans.
“Always sleep, pff. I stay up late and sleep a lot of the time till about eleven, so--”
“This is very true,” she nodded in thought. “Ugh, if Target was a man, I would be all up on him. Climb him like a tree,” a small giggle came out, covering her face. The smile grew on her face when the woman mentioned going there after Ikea. “Yes please. We can get coffee and buy things we don’t need. How does a store bring that much life to me? Is that even normal?”
Lines crinkled over her usually smooth features. “If Target was a man, he’d be ancient, so-- Ew.” A laugh of her own joined with the blonde’s. “Your Target is my Ikea. Target is a close second, though.” Giving her that much at least in terms of her own taste.
