A lot of the historical outfits boil down to "I want to love this a lot more than I do".

If I don't sew my own Felicity dress for Aduke, this is the one I'd most likely get. Or I might sew a dress in similar colors to this one but styled more like the Rose Garden gown, that's a possibility.

So here's what I've got: Miss Addy Walker, a couple of her own dresses, one of Josefina's, and a couple of modern dresses. I might sew her a Felicity-style dress at some point, I haven't decided on details or color or anything for that. I don't have the upper left dress, but I have a royal blue dress of similar style. She also has a Dogge (Tatlo, originally Kaya's), a mini Felicity doll (pre-2000 with glass eyes, not shown), and eyeglasses. And I've taken out her original fixed hoop earrings so she can wear standard American Girl pierced earrings.

Okay, so in addition to selling tons of dolls and doll shit, I have admitted to myself that I mostly don't play with doll furniture or non-wearable accessories. Time to go through and ponder once again what I have and what I want.

Oh look, I got it down to roughly $500. And literally two-thirds of that is Aduke’s two big-ticket items, which *knock on wood* should hopefully stay available for a while. So all I need to worry about getting before it’s discontinued is the Rainbow Sprinkles jelly sandals outfit (which is on half-off sale, never a good sign :P), and Gabi and her tap shoes and her sequin outfit, which should all last till Decemberish anyway. Total on all those is about $193, most of which is of course Gabi herself, cos these are not cheap dolls.

(They’re frankly not cheap outfits either. Two outfits and a pair of tap shoes is running me a total of $78 here. You see why I’m trying to be very picky about what I buy! ;P Even though it holds its resale value pretty well, reselling AG stuff is a pain in the ass and requires many spoons.)

Okay, now I go bed. At 6am. Oops. :P

So me and dolly disability is apparently a Thing, hence the diabetes care kit for Gabriela. Most of this other stuff is also planned for Gabriela, and I'm looking over Laser Eyes' old collection to pick out stuff for Gabbi as well. I've pretty much decided the purple Pop Star Karaoke dress and necklace are gonna be Gabi's when she gets here (at some point after I get a job and am able to pay the rent consistently, lol); I'm thinking I might pair those with the "Sparkle Sneakers", unless Gabbi just wears her tap shoes all the time, which is a thing that might happen. They're very cool tap shoes. :D I've also got an assortment of t-shirts and jeans for Gabi, as well as the outfit with the happy ghosties top and the candycorn tights, and the one gorgeous sparkly ice skating outfit, and the pink and neon green track outfit. And I'm pretty certain I'm gonna take the pants from the Pomeranian jammies -- they have an adorable allover pawprint pattern on them! -- and pair them with her "Imagine Dream Create" pajama top. I'm thinking very hard about the Ombré Ballet dress; I still hope to source the recently discontinued ballet and jazz outfits for Gabi at some point, but the Ombre Ballet outfit is pretty, and is not pale pink in that really obnoxious "look at me i am FLESH COLOURED" kind of way. ;P Then, too, the Rainbow Sprinkles outfit is not only adorable, it's got jelly sandals! ^_^ I always wanted those as a kid, but now my feet are too elderly and cantankerous to wear them, so I require dolly jelly sandals. XD Aduke doesn't generally ask for much, but when she does it's a doozy. She very definitely wants Kit's green daybed up there instead of the yellow bunk bed (which I am falling out of love with), and she also wants the Gourmet Kitchen, which has roughly 65 tiny little pieces and is as large in every direction as she is. Apparently her main interest aside from historical cosplay is cookery. Who knew? O_O

Some days I just... like to go to the AG website and just window shop. Chuck things in a bag and then sort through them. It kinda... helps, that I'm going through the whole site (well, the 18" doll portion of it anyway), and I'm going like "yeah, I have that but I never play with it... I *had* that but I decided I didn't like it so I sold it..." A lot of times, after I've put the same item in my bag several different times and then taken it out again, I start to realize, yup, this isn't a thing I'm particularly in love with, or I wish I liked it more than I actually do. It's a lot easier than driving four hours up to Phoenix and then trying to decide everything while I'm there. ;P This set of screenshots hasn't really been weeded through yet. I just thought I'd talk about my process of deciding whether to get things. I... hope I'm getting better at deciding what I'll actually get a lot of enjoyment out of, before I buy it. I think I am. :S

So I don't even know if I want a different white doll instead of Laser Eyes. Maybe I just want Aduke and Gabriella. And maybe Z Yang once her collection launches, I'm a little dubious about that though -- her character being an eleven-year-old fashionista makes me feel very self-conscious that I would not be able to dress her creatively enough. If I was gonna get another white doll, though, I think it'd be one of these four. Or like, the lower-right doll with the lower-left doll's dark blue eyes... eyeswapping these dolls is kind of a terrifying thing to attempt, though, it's possible to fuck them up SUPER badly and it's very hard to get the new eyes looking in exactly the same direction. And I have a huge squick for dolls whose eyes point in slightly different directions, it -- like, it disrupts my ability to think of them as smol people with personalities. It makes them read to me as "pieces of plastic and cloth" instead of "characters". :P (She'd look fucking gorgeous, though. ^_^)

gabbi, the minimalist version, i.e. shit i already have and shit that's still in production. still really pissed off about missing out on that damn ballet set. maybe they make a sewing pattern for dolly leotards. i am not given to sewing knits though... :P shopping list: gabi, two outfits, tap shoes, a backpack

Frankly, I've got a lot more AG purchases I regret making than ones I regret not making. I think that's the takeaway from this, at least for tonight.

Or, for the "exhausted and minimalist tortoise does not want to be buggered with sourcing too damn many things" edition, there's four dresses, a pet dog, and a bed, with only the bed still to get. She can also wear the skirt with her collection of t-shirts, and she has the blue dress Miss Nethie sewed her back in the day; there we go, done. Shopping list: one dolly bed, $100 or thereabouts.

Teeeeechnically I own this, but @mraoulee was gonna do some extra beading on it, and god only knows where it is now. :S Looks great with Aduke's skin tone, though.
