processing-deps updated !

YO !

processing-deps has been updated to include ALL the contributed libraries. I've got a system set up that will automagically sync all of the libraries that i'll run daily. If you wanna check that out it's here -> processing-deps-updater. It was kinda fun to figure out; all in ruby. Enjoy !

Oh and if you don't remember what processing-deps is, it's basically just a big collection of the jar files for processing libraries and an install script that will set them all up so you can use them with maven locally (since all of the libs are not hosted in maven central).

easier data library for processing pt. 3

Got the initial push up on github for MarshalP5, an easier data marshaling / unmarshalling library for processing. Only supports XML and JSON so far. Take a peek and let me know what you think. Also, what other formats should it support ? I'm trying to figure out what a CSV implementation would look like. It hasn't clicked yet. Anywho

andrewfm - yeah could definitely do those. although not sure I want to mess with xls unless there's a library out there that does it already. fakevyral - you're exactly right, that was my plan. leverage existing libraries that have been tried and tested and have large user communities. Jackson for JSON and Jaxb for XML. The current processing data lib is composed of hand-rolled solutions.

easier data library

had an idea. what if i made an easier data library for processing ? I’m imagining a filetype-agnostic interface that can read/write from a number of different formats (JSON, XML, and YAML, are there any others?). The current data library makes the building-up of a document for saving cumbersome. This new library will basically allow you to throw an object at it and a file format and it’ll handle all the serialization/marshalling. On the other end, it will provide a common interface for parsing/searching loaded files regardless of their type.

Thoughts ?

SketchMapper

So ! finally, I made this sketch mapper thing into a processing library. It's based on SurfaceMapper and SurfaceMapperGUI but it allows you to define and use sketches on the surfaces instead of images and videos (which is what the original SurfaceMapperGUI supported).

Anyhow DOWNLOAD IT HERE

I'm sure it's not working as well as think it is so please break it and let me know what's wrong in the issues on the GitHub.
