Samir Al-Kilani ( @sameergaza ) is a young Palestinian man living in the ethnic enclave known as the Gaza Strip. Originally created as a displacement camp in 1948 for Palestinian refugees driven from their hometowns during the Nakba, the Gaza Strip has been under siege by the Israeli government since 2006. However, since October of 2023, the Israeli government has initiated a liquidation of the Gaza ghetto. A "final solution" to the "Palestinian question," so to speak. We must call this out for what it is- a genocide.
Amidst this genocide, Samir attempts the most daring act of resistance- survival. Netnyahu and his cronies have made it clear that the Israeli war goal is the elimination of every man, woman, and child living in Gaza. Now, I've spoken to Samir. He's a decent and kind person. He is the eldest child of his household who is just trying to provide for his family. Personally, I don't think he deserves to die.
Months ago, the Al-Kilani family home was bombed by the IDF, forcing everyone to relocate. First, to a tent that was torn apart by shrapnel, and now, to a more stable apartment building. While the walls of an apartment protect the Al-Kilani family better than a tent, they still have to pay rent to their landlord during a genocide!
Like me, Samir is a fourth year college student. However, while I have been able to comfortably pursue my degree in art, his pursuit of an engineering degree has been disrupted by this unjust and terrible war. Despite everything, Samir is still trying to finish out his college education.
Of course, he is only human. Samir needs to eat, just like you or me. Everyone in his family does, especially his 10 year old sister, Hayla, who is still growing up.
There are eight total members of the Al-Kilani family that this fundraiser goes towards supporting, including Samir's mother and his chronically ill grandmother (who are not pictured here.)
Sadly the story of the Al-Kilanis, a story of war, displacement, struggle, famine, and fear, is not a unique one. Their struggle for survival is emblematic of the story of every family in the Gaza Strip.
However, with your help, perhaps the story of the Al-Kilani family can also become one of hope.
You are not powerless!
Every dollar you give contributes to keeping the Al-Kilani family alive. Towards food, towards rent, towards medicine, towards education, towards a future for little Hayla.
Right now, market prices have dropped, and Samir has almost reached his fundraising goal. Prices will likely go back up in the future, so money sent now will have more purchasing power on the market. Basically, the sooner he meets his fundraising goal, the better.
If you can't donate, that's okay! You can help by reblogging to spread the awareness for this fundraiser. Even a kind word in the comment section would be greatly appreciated.
The Al-Kilani family is counting on you!

Sami's brother, Enad, was shot in the leg by the occupation.
He desperately needs to receive medical treatment, but doctors and medical supplies are scarce in Gaza.
Furthermore, the Al-Kilani family has taken in multiple orphans in the past couple of weeks. These children need to eat, too.
Please, now more than ever, the Al-Kilani family needs your help. Do not forget about the innocents suffering in this terrible war of extermination.
