Sorry about this, everyone.
Kicking off Gay Pride month with some Gay Discomfort: An essay on internalized transphobia, "Heated Rivalry," and Glenn Greenwald. It's anyone's guess which is worse.

It's fine! Thanks for asking!
There's a new Tori Amos album out, and it is VERY IMPORTANT that you listen to me rather than Pitchfork.
It's Dead Teenagers day! Issue #3 and all its glorious variants can be picked up at your local comic shop, or at the usual digital retailers. Make sure to put in a pre-order for Issue #4 before FOC on 5/25.
All you gotta do is to want the fun of it.
Something that started small and got big: On getting made fun of, giving up on my childhood love for MST3K, and the best slasher movie of all time, "Jason X."
DC Pride 2025 is up for an Eisner! I wrote a story and a half, so now I am technically Eisner-nominated (the BEST kind of Eisner-nominated) or at least nominee-adjacent. Congratulations to Andrea Shea, Jillian Grant, and all the other geniuses involved, obviously.
How many operations? How much time do you need?
On "The Skin I Live In," a wildly problematic movie that I still managed to see myself in, very much against the wishes of Pedro Almodovar.
On starving yourself to keep the world fed, and other problems.
Some Personal Essay on burnout and being a Representative Trans Person.
Yes, "murder" is "bad," but just hear me out.
Murder! Is it good? Is it bad? We simply don't have answers to those questions, but in this case, with this ONE murder, I think there's a net benefit. Please just hear me out.
The many Clayfaces behind "Clayface: Celebrity Dirt."
I got to write a CLAYFACE limited series for DC, and I am now the world's biggest, weirdest Clayface fan. Here's a bit about the character's history, why I love him, and which comics I read to get him right.
DC has announced details for a Clayface comic miniseries arriving this July before the character's big screen debut.
Some personal news: I got to write a comic miniseries for Clayface, with astonishing, gorgeous, and occasionally really disgusting art by Fran Galan. I love Basil so much and I love this project. More at the link.
Viva Italia!
At the newsletter: I'm covering slashers for DEAD TEENAGERS week, starting with the slasher that scares me most -- which, yes, does have a lot of giant foam animal heads and saxophone solos, all things considered.
DEAD TEENAGERS #2 is out as of today, April 15! So is the re-issued #1, which sold out its first print run (a first for me, and one which I plan to talk about a normal amount of the time). You can pick it up at your comic shop or the usual digital retailers, and learn who the mysterious new lady on the cover is, just in time to pre-order Issue #3 by April 27.
In this place, love is a curse.
All it takes to make a queer feminist masterpiece is a dream and a giant vampire puppet.
All just a little bit of history repeating.
A quick one about "One Battle After Another," the Oscars, and watching cycles repeat.
Compact Disc Read Only MURDER!!!!
Over at the newsletter, our series on Slasher Deaths concludes with a look at the most terrifying threat of the 1990s.
Also, even though I forgot to post it, you should still read this installment on mannequins. What is that about, really?
Today! The first issue of my beloved DEAD TEENAGERS hits comic shops. This is apparently Oni's bestselling first issue of a creator-owned comic, and it's already being sold at a pretty high markup on eBay and such, but you can still check your local comic shop or buy a digital copy here. If you want to get Issue #2 in your hands, you can get your pre-order in at the LCS by Monday, March 23.
By the way: Today is also the pub day for my short story "Hatewatch," with Malachi Ward, in EC Comics' Catacomb of Torment #9. It feels so weird and great to be part of the EC tradition, and this story is a mean one, so watch out for it.
I believe the children are our future. Also the robots.
Still running slasher numbers in advance of DEAD TEENAGERS. This week: Authority-hating teens encounter their natural enemy, the robot.
