summary: your relationship has become one sided but it looked like jude didn’t even notice and thought everything was fine
You weren’t sure when it went wrong but you knew you two weren’t the same anymore.
You two had been inseparable since you first met so when you two started fading away you didn’t understand what happened. What went wrong? Because you two were meant to be right, or at least you thought you were.
It was no surprise to you that Jude’s career was important to him you knew it was and you had been supporting him ever since the start of you relationship but lately you had felt like you were blending to the background of his busy life like you weren’t his priority anymore. He had barley made any time for you. Every time you tried to plan something he was busy whether it was training or hanging out with his friends you understood that he had to try and adjust to his new life in madrid and getting to know his teammates but you were tired it’s like you didn’t exist anymore.
It was the third time he had canceled on you during this week everytime you tried to make plans claiming he had something else to do and this time he forgot. He didn’t even remember that he promised to have a cozy night with you today. He had walked in to your bedroom all dressed up when you looked at him confused and asked him where he was going, he told you how some of his teammates had planned a little get together. You looked at him confused “I thought that we were having a date night today” Jude stopped and turned to you “shit I forgot I’m so sorry babe I’ll swear I’ll make it up to you as soon as possible”. And there it was he canceled on you again you wanted to say that you were surprised but you weren’t because it was all he did lately cancel on you and make empty promises. You looked at him with teary eyes “seriously jude this is the third time this week you promised me” “i know I know but you know I wanna fit in with the team so I have to go I’m sorry I love you” he came up to you gave you a kiss on the forehead and left without any other explanation. You let the tears fall down because what we’re you supposed to do it’s like he didn’t even wanna spend time with you anymore.
Every mornin', I glared at you with storms in my eyes How can you say that you love someone you can't tell is dyin'? I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick My face was gray, but you wouldn't admit that we were sick
You weren’t sure when was the last time you and jude spend time together or even had a proper conversation you barley even saw each other anymore only really quickly in the morning and the evening. You had stopped trying weeks ago nothing changed nor did he. He didn’t even make an effort to make your relationship work you didn’t even think he realized that there was something wrong because he acted like everything was fine like you were fine but you weren’t. You were both sitting in the living room of your shared apartment one evening it was rare that you even had times like these together anymore but it didn’t matter because you were sitting at the opposite sides of the sofa and there was tension you felt it and you were sure jude did too maybe he just wanted to act like everything was okay. Jude’s eyes looked up from the screen of his phone at you “so uhh I was just wondering if your coming to my game this weekend” you didn’t know what to say you knew you weren’t gonna go because what was the point you were sure he didn’t even care because you hadn’t gone to a game in weeks “umm I really don’t know jude I don’t think I can make it I’m kinda busy” he raised his eyebrow at you he probably sensed that you were lying because what could you exactly be busy with it’s not like you had made a tons of friends since moving to madrid with him “oh with what you haven’t been at a game in so long” “just stuff didn’t even think you’d notice to be honest”. You didn’t wanna fight with him but you couldn’t stay silence either “what’s that supposed to mean” he asked “you know what forget it” you said as you got up from the sofa and started to walk upstairs “no what do you mean” he said as he he followed you ”seriously it’s nothing can you just let it go” and he did let it go part of you wanted him to let you explain to let you let it all out but he didn’t ask anymore questions so you let it go.
And the air is thick with loss and indecision I know my pain is such an imposition Now, you're runnin' down the hallway And you know what they all say You don't know what you got until it's gone
Jude had asked you to come with him to a holiday party that one of his teammates was hosting. You thought about not going at first but then you thought about how maybe this could be a chance for you to fix your relationship so you decided to go. You were standing in a corner alone for what seemed like forever now jude had left you saying he’s gonna go greet some people and be right back but it had been good 20 minutes and he still hadn’t come back you didn’t even think he remembered that you were here with him waiting for him and you were starting to get anxious. It wasn’t like jude’s teammates and partners weren’t nice pepole you just didn’t know them well enough and to be honest you were already a shy person so going up and talking to pepole wasn’t your best strength so you just decided to wait for him to show up which would probably take forever. And that’s like that another 20 minutes had passed without any sight of jude you were getting upset. He was the one who had asked you to come with him in the first place what was the point of you even being there if he had ditched you the second you arrived, you felt your face getting hotter and tears starting to build up but you weren’t gonna cry, not here you didn’t wanna cause a scene. You had two options either suck it up go find the bathroom so you could freshen up and after that find jude and act like everything is fine or you could just leave and not tell him because he probably wouldn’t even notice until later anyway. After a little bit of thinking you decided on the second one what was the point of you staying at a party where you barley knew anyone and where you would be ignored by your boyfriend for the whole evening. So you called a cab and left.
How long could we be a sad song 'Til we were too far gone to bring back to life? And just like you predicted jude hadn’t noticed that you let until an hour later when he texted you asked you were you went. You were surprised it hadn’t taken him longer to notice your absence.
You weren’t gonna answer him first but you were angry why was he expecting you to stay when he had left you alone.
You decided to shut your phone for the rest of the night and just go downstairs and watch a movie or something. You weren’t gonna cry over this not anymore at least. Yes it hurt that your boyfriend had been ignoring you for the last couple of months but wasting your tears wasn’t gonna solve any of your problems.
It had been about 30 minutes since jude texted you when you heard the front door opening and some noises in the hallway. You knew he was back and he wasn’t gonna just stay silent he would 100% say something about tonight. “Seriously what the fuck y/n why would you leave like that you could’ve at least said something before you left did you know how stupid i looked when I had no idea where my own girlfriend went” he couldn’t be serious right now so him looking stupid was his only concern. “No your the one who left me alone for almost an hour so I had every right to leave” you answered him as you got up from the sofa you were so angry right now and you didn’t wanna say things you would end up regretting. “Excuse me for trying to fit in with my new team and not being with you 24/7” you raised an eyebrow “24/7? You’ve barley spent anytime with me for the past few months you’ve been canceling on me constantly and every time you have the same excuse you know damn well that everyone loves you in that team so I have no idea why you keep telling yourself other wise” your eyes were tearing up “I’m tired jude I can’t do this anymore I’ve been trying to make this relationship work for months. Trying to let it go telling myself you’ll be back to normal but is there even a point of trying to save a relationship that’s clearly one sided” he looked at you confused “I literally left me whole life for you and moved here so we could be together but its like that doesn’t even matter to you” you were aware that you were raising your voice but you didn’t care you needed to let it all out. “We’ll I didn’t ask you to do that did I and of course I care about that but like I said these people are new to me I have to try and get to know them cant you understand that” you looked at him shocked “if you really didn’t want me here you could’ve just said so would’ve saved both of us time” “that’s not what I said don’t twist my words” “but that’s what you meant isn’t it” you could feel your chest tighten “Maybe we should take a break or just break up I I- can’t fo this anymore jude it’s too much” “what no y/n I love you I didn’t mean that I’m sorry” “no I just can’t you and me both know that this isn’t gonna work out I love you too but I’m exhausted” you were a full mess quite literally sobbing you didn’t wanna do this but it wasn’t the same anymore it had to be done. So that next morning you backed your things and left and he didn’t stop you. Maybe you weren’t just meant to be.

Interviewer: So, your new song has really resonated with a lot of people. It feels so raw and personal. Can you tell us a bit about what inspired it?
Yn: Yeah, it’s… It’s one of those songs that kind of came out all at once. I wrote it during a really hard time. You know sometimes you get stuck in your own head thinking about things you did, things you didn’t do the way things end up turning out. And for me this song came from that place of wondering about someone you used to be really close to. The kind of close where everything feels intendse like nothing else matters in the world. And then one day that connection isn’t there anymore. It's not like a dramatic fight or something. It’s just the slow realization that things are different, that time has shifted everything. I guess I was processing a lot of that.
Interviewer: The lyrics definitely seem to suggest a sense of loss but also a little bit of guilt like you wish you could go back and do things differently. Would you say that’s true?
Yn: Yeah for sure. There’s a lot of what ifs in that song. I think when you're in a relationship that’s as significant as this one was you can’t help but wonder if you missed a chance to make things work. I mean, there are moments where you feel like you could have done more, said more, or maybe just been more present. It’s that feeling of wishing things turned out differently, but also knowing deep down you can't change the past, no matter how hard you try. Sometimes I feel like I’m still holding onto bits of it, even though I’m trying to let go.
Interviewer: There’s a line in the song that really stood out: "You’d be the love of my life when I was young." That sounds like you’re reflecting on something that feels like it belongs in the past. Was that something you were consciously thinking about when you wrote it?
Yn: Definitely. It’s funny, because when you're in something, you think it’ll always be a part of you, right? But time changes how you look at everything. When I was younger, I thought I had everything figured out. And now, I can see how much I didn’t know. That line, “love of my life when I was young,” it’s not just about the person, it’s also about who I was at that time. It was a different version of me. And I think that’s what the song captures. The part of yourself that holds onto something, even when you know it’s in the past, even when it's not your reality anymore.
Interviewer: It’s clear there’s a lot of emotion behind these words. Was there a particular moment or time in your life that made you want to write this?
Yn Yeah, I’d say it came after… after things had settled. It wasn’t immediate. You know, sometimes it takes a while to really understand what you’re feeling. There was a lot of time to think, and honestly, I had to let myself feel all those messy emotions.
Interviewer: That sounds like a really hard experience. Do you think you’ll always be writing about this part of your life or is this just one chapter for you?
Yn: Definitely this person was such a big part of my life and I will always love them even though things are different now
