Blinking, Serena took in Judith’s attire, her mouth falling open for a brief moment before she regained her senses and closed it again, a smile overtaking her features immediately. “I’m glad, I would never mean to. I am early, I hope that’s okay. I thought I would see if you needed any help. I slept alright, I think. Just not long enough, but that’s okay. How did you sleep, Miss?”
Because her daily attire was always some gorgeous gown, she did her hair and makeup every morning but only put on the tights, bloomers, undershirt or slip dress and a pair of slippers to prep for the morning opening while nobody was around. Then she’s make sure she was ready to open, get a dress on, and turn on her sign and unlock the door. Serena had a key, Jude had slyly given her one just a few days into her helping out. “You think?” She signed back, an eyebrow perking in slight judgment. The expressiveness of sign came naturally to her. “Have you been getting enough sleep in general or is this morning a first? I slept alright, I’ve been up for a while working here. You can help if you want, you know what needs to be done.” Jude hadn’t ever let anyone but Serena help her in the kitchen. It was something she prided herself on. Serena was special, though.
