A Guide To Produce Ripening Infographic
Better sleep to be more productive and awake the following morning. I’ve also heard that checking your phone right before going to bed excites the brain which causes irritability.
It’s almost 2015! We’re taking a guess again as to what ingredients we think you’ll be seeing a lot of in the New Year. Check out the list below to learn more about these foods that will help you live happier and healthier this year and stay tuned to see which ones will be making an appearance on our menu.
1. Watercress
An aquatic plant with a peppery taste, watercress is full of iron, calcium, folic acid and Vitamin C.
2. Middle Eastern Spices
Stay positive in the New Year - spices like za’atar and sumac help boost your mood and protect your body from cell damage.
3. Asian Mushrooms
Shiitake and enoki mushrooms absorb cholesterol and protect your immune system.
4. Fresh Turmeric
Native to southeast India, this spice is both a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient.
5. Walnuts
Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, walnuts help contribute to a healthy heart, reduce the risk of diabetes, and ease stress.
6. Pea Shoots
Size doesn’t always matter. These young leaves of pea plants are harvested as microgreens but are packed with Vitamins A and C, and folic acid.
7. Water
While people should be drinking more H20 in 2015, awareness over how much water it takes to produce food will rise. (Did you know that it takes 400 lbs of water to produce 1 lb of beef?)
8. Nutritional Yeast
This deactivated yeast is a vegan source of B vitamins, which help your body extract energy from food and produce red blood cells.
9. Local Grains
We all know that quinoa, farro and wild rice are good sources of protein and fiber. In 2015, we’ll see even more healthy whole grains produced domestically.

Juicing is gaining more popularity now that healthy alternatives are taking over the market. The practice itself is a great way to prepare yourself for a healthy diet, especially if you’re used to eating junk food everyday and can’t stand the though of eating broccoli. For those who are not familiar with juicing or who think that juicing is starving yourself for days on end by drinking juices only, let me enlighten you. The practice itself is basically to juice vegetables, fruits and nuts in order to absorb all the nutrients through their liquid form.
