December is finally here! This means Christmas is coming soon. To spread some positivity in the booklr community, I’ve decided to host an event: 12 days of favorites. It’s a variation of 12 days of Christmas, but instead of giving presents, you share your love of books! It will start on December 26th 2019 and end on January 6th 2020. There will be a different bookish prompt for every day. You can post whatever you want (i.e. edits, moodboard, aesthetics, fanfiction, photography). You can participate every day or only join for a couple of days.

So I decided to give this whole blogging thing a try and I figured since I read so many books I might as well use this blog to review them. This is the first book I read for 2019 and let me just say I couldn’t have started this year off with a better book! Evermore by Sara Holland was absolutely amazing! It was a fantastic follow up to Everless.

Now before you read any further let me warn you that there will be spoilers to follow!

Okay so first I want to talk about the amazing strong women leads in this book. Jules is a great leading lady and she is so strong. She works so hard to save the people she loves and to keep them safe. Then there is Caro. Now I’m not a fan of Caro as  person, but it is undeniable that she is also a very strong person. She is determined to get her heart back and will do whatever it takes to achieve her goal. She fights and fights and fights. Her and Jules are so evenly matched in their strength that it was hard for me to figure out who would be the one to come out on top. But we can’t forget the female character who came out and surprised me the most in this book and that would have to be Ina. I was not expecting her to come out and be such a bad ass, but I loved the character turn with her. When she took off the huntsman’s hood I was shocked! It was great.

Now let me talk about Liam! HE IS PERFECT! Half of the things he said had my heart melting. Also I loved the development of him and Jules’ relationship over the two books. This book really wrapped up the story well. It gave me the ending I was hoping for and didn’t leave me with a million questions.

I read this book in two days and I highly recommend it. Sara Holland is an amazing author and she really knows how to create a world and fully immerse you in it.

So i started reading Everless and damn it’s good. Who wants to fangirl with me after I finish it?

Things I loved about Everless in no particular order

- Ina Gold. What a sweetheart.

- Caro’s whole character.

- THAT PLOT TWIST. HOLY FREAKING CRAP.

- Jules’ friendship with the kitchen boy

- The setting was way cool. My only complaint is that the phrase “time is money” kept going through my head.

- Speaking of setting, exposition-through-bedtime-stories was amazing.

- I was a little bitter when she threw the year-coin into the lake. She could’ve used that.

- PLOT TWIST.

- Liam was an interesting character, definitely, but I don’t know if I can forgive him (or get behind the romance arc it was hinting at)

- Lady Sida

- Jules loves shiny things. We mustn’t forget that. IN HINDSIGHT WAS THAT FORESHADOWING FOR WHO SHE WAS???????

- Briarsmoor is creepy as heck and I’m HERE for it

- In conclusion

- I need the next book

I’m hopeful now! I saw in on booklr a few times and thought I would look for it in the bookstore. There happened to be a big discount just when I did. So I had to get it. The fact that I don’t have to wait for the second one to be published makes me very happy

My review:

Although I liked Everless more, I enjoyed Evermore very much! The ending was great and had shocking plot twists! It was interesting to read more about the past of the Alchemist. This book has a more of a fantasy vibe than the first book, which is more sci-fi. I think that the story is very original, because I didn’t read something similar in YA fantasy. Also, the cover is gorgeous! *I received this ARC in exchange for honest review*

Its a good book with nice fantasy aspects and relavant social commentary. It also contains some of my favorite tropes but i dont want to spoil. Pls read this book I love it so much I would eat it.

October 24: Spell-binding

A spell bound time to blood, which in turn has become the currency in Sempera. I did not expect all that much from this book but was pleasently surprised. The second book in the series (Evermore) will be published 31 December 2018 (but be careful, the very fist sentence of the synopsis is a major spoiler for the main reveal in book 1! I hate it, when that happens!)
