What matters is… That there has been something missing for me. Something that is hard to define. And I have been desperately just trying to create this thing, and just looking for it… But I… I’ve been just flailing. And I realize now, that you and I… We’re never going to find it. How do you know? Because I have it with someone else.
Tegan and Sara at Le Poisson Rouge. NYC 5/9/16
i haven’t seen these gals in over a year. they came back to nyc, playing a tiny venue to promote their upcoming album ‘love you to death.’ the show was INCREDIBLE. folks lined up the night before to get a good spot. i arrived at 2:30PM day of to see the line already around the block. that’s the kind of devotion TnS have cultivated. i got to know my fellow TnS fans around me and on line that was great. and i had a good spot for the show (it was packed!!). they came on after wham’s ‘wake me up before you go go’...if you didnt know you’d be having a great time and seeing a great show by then, then you knew with that awesome 80s song. :) totally missed seeing TnS together on stage. i love their music. all the different incarnations, from their acoustic guitar to their more electropop current stuff. especially the electropop current stuff. they’re still TnS, they still have the banter that is so naturally hysterical and at times revealing. and they have reworked some of their older songs which was awesome to hear. and they played a few songs from ‘love you to death’ (comes out 6/3/16!). it was a great crowd and there was a lot of love in the room for these ladies. i hope they felt it...i think they did. it was just so good to see them on stage, just a few feet away from me sounding better than ever.

i was in the first row mezz for the final show...it was a seat i usually sat in. one last time, right? this sing-a-long. so incredible, the energy, the love that exudes from this show is palpable. the story of transformation and acceptance of every kind and the music that stays with you long after you’ve left the theater. ‘hedwig and the angry inch’ will live on through all the fans, the hedheads, that quote, post pics, post art, and sing out loud to all things hedwig. that’s the inspiration that this show has brought to so many.

the last ‘lift up your hands’....im so not ready to let this show go yet. so i’ll post pics and videos i took. sigh.
annie is pretty bad-ass. i always found her to be just no-nonsense fairness. she cares and she has the best poker face ever. when the crowd started chanting ‘annie! annie!’ to get her on-stage during the encore? one of the sweetest things ive ever seen. i saw her singing along to ‘wig in a box’...she’s a fan like us. she deserves to be on that stage.
i’ll miss her regulating that crazy stage door. saving hedhead lives...and making sure new yorkers can walk on the sidewalk. :)
The Deafening at Gramercy Theater, NYC. 7/8/15
they can and should headline. The Deafening (Lena Hall on vocals, Burt Rock and Dylan Doyle on Guitar, Tommy Mokas on Bass, and Mick Harrison on Drums) rocked gramercy theater tonight. they are so much fun to watch, just all out rock’n roll. not many bands do this nowadays. you can tell they love music and the history behind music. they are hard rock, glam, punk, metal...all of the badassery that makes music such a release and so important. and of course, lena hall...the broadway tony winning star...heading up this band and commanding attention, seducing the crowd, slapping them around a bit and blowing them away with that voice. my only complaint was that the set should have been longer! great show again! can’t wait for the next one.
as you know, i love doing amateur concert photography. nothing fancy, no fancy camera. just my point and shoot. lena and the guys are a lot of fun to shoot. here’s some pics from the evening...more to come! :)
i started doing yoga last friday via a wonderful youtube channel called ‘yoga with adriene’ ...im a total newb but immediately felt comfortable as i learned that it’s OK not to have the perfect pose. it’s more ‘find what feels good.’ which is totally reassuring. anyway, im sweating. im enjoying. and it seems to be sticking with me. :) as for jj...he’s watching me as i do it. he gets totally relaxed by the sound of adriene’s voice and by the time the 40 minute beginner video is over, he’s mastered shivasana. im jealous. ;)
anyway, im enjoying yoga. and yoga with adriene. a very reassuring, real person instructor. feeling good afterwards. will see where this takes me.
