Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie for GQ (x)
i think one of the reasons that heated rivalry has been so successful is because everyone involved with it is so fucking proud of what they created. like there’s zero embarrassment or shame about how sexual it is or how queer it is and it’s just such a breath of fresh air
Really?
Heated Rivalry episode 1.06 and chapter 23.
I've seen the announcement of the continuation of Shane and Ilya's story, and while I'm excited to be reunited with them post The Long Game, I can't help but feel scared.
From the premise that has been given, it seems that the book may lean heavily into homophobia and backlash around their relationship. I hope I'm wrong, because I really really don't want to see them struggle too much this time around.
Also, to be honest, it'd feel cliché to me. Ok, receiving backlash after coming out is the usual continuation of a story centered around LGBTQIA+ high profile characters. But gosh, we've seen that over and over and over again and even if it's realistic, I'm tired. Let the gays (and bisexual) be happy, for once.
These men have been through enough already. I'd be completly fine just to see them enjoy married life, having kids and growing old together. My ideal scenario would have been a book with several epilogues, showing them at different points in their future. Enjoying being on the same team, becoming parents, stuggling a bit with raising children, domesticity, even them as grandparents...
thank you heated rivalry for bringing me back full tilt to 2013-esque fandom behavior. I'm making a playlist, I'm reblogging edits. I'm fucking crazy but I'm free

Ilya: this guy is cute, I should start a stationary bike race so he knows I want to get sweaty together
Ilya: that didn’t quite work. Maybe I should just give him the eye? While I tell him I hope he likes his new city?
Ilya: okay. But surely if I make him drink from my water bottle and brush his fingers when passing it over…?
Ilya: call him pretty. To his face. No way he can miss that
Ilya: desperate measures, I’ll have to tell him I orchestrated this whole ad campaign just so I could see him again
Ilya: WHAT IF I STARTED JERKING OFF IN THESE COMUNAL SHOWERS?
SHANE & ILYA + parallels
Hudson and Connor’s rapid rise in fame seems completely bewildering and overwhelming, as much as it seems exciting, and I just hope that they find a way to cope with the absurdity of this experience, and have loyal people around who will protect them.
people canceling hudson for posting film reviews on a film reviewing app is just so unhinged. cause how dare you have opinions on the opinions app? even if you disagree or think the review is silly, having a bad opinion is still a God given right.
it's just baffling to me that these people walk around. tell anyone who is not online that you are mad at someone's film reviews and watch them short circuit.
i also think the lolita review being misinterpreted just proves again our media literacy is in the gutter. people see the word "perverted" and immediately think oo lala sexy smut. like, no. perversion is an actual literary theme. also often used in gothic romance. this almost over-sanitation of our media landscape and criticism is literally killing art.
It feels as if you both are making a huge impact in dismantling toxic masculinity in the world, not just as your characters but as yourselves in interviews, as women we crave more men like you in the world what do accredit your nature to is from parenting, classes, media or a mixture of all of this.
We have lost the meaning of queerbait
Just because what you wanted didn't happen, doesn't mean it's queerbaiting. It is now being used an excuse when the ship you want didn't get together. Queerbaiting has to do with marketing.
Queerbait: A cookbook that you learned about from ads with pictures of people eating tasty looking soups and the author's social media posts about how soup lovers are going to love it, proves to have no soup recipes.
Not queerbait: A cookbook has no soup recipes. You assumed there would be some based on vibes and wishful thinking. No soups were ever advertised or promised.
Also not queerbait: A cookbook that was advertised as containing soup recipes has soup recipes but not for the types of soups you like.
Aight I'm forming the HudCon security troupe we are protecting the boys from evil Twitter users and parasocial vampires who's with me
