resurrecting this blog just to shamefully promote a fic I’ve written. anyway if you want a very biased scaeva character study. it’s here
Last commission of the batch: Mia Corvere sitting on the Scoundrel’s Throne and wearing the coat of faces, done for the lovely @/lemonade_heist on IG.
[THIS IS A COMMISSION. DO NOT REPOST/COPY/EDIT/USE IN ANY WAY. DO NOT DELETE CAPTION.]
[IG @runningquill_art]
The ultimate list of good and completely objective reasons why Scaeva should have gotten his crown:
He’s my favorite character, which means he’s automatically the best character in the whole thing and that he deserved the best
He’s hot and a crown would have looked very pretty on him. Also, they would have probably built him statues, and the statues would have looked hot too
He clearly worked really hard for it! We appreciate hard work and think it should pay off!
He was pretty considerate after all. He only killed his political opponents and their families. I think that was neat of him.
Honestly could someone else have done better than him? Like, the Republic was definitely pretty corrupt and nothing was really working, I doubt things would have worsened had he become the emperor as he wanted. And he would have had a lot of fun!
He had a very good aesthetic that would have matched a throne really well
The fact he endured a God’s power through mere willpower would be enough tbh. No one else in the whole trilogy was able to do that. End of discussion.
Did I already say that he was hot? Because he really was
Honestly Itreyan democracy was already very much not working I don’t think Scaeva would have worsened things that much. He deserved a chance at least :(
Scaeva and Alinne were just trying to outgaslight outgatekeep and outgirlboss each other :/
“I am the war you cannot win.”
Mia Corvere commission for the lovely @witchlingsart who won my 2k giveaway a while back! It took me a minute to get to drawing this piece up and I thank her for her patience! I have learned a lot about Mia over the time of starting this and I adore her! 😍 I can’t wait to get deeper into the series and let my soul be robbed by her!
Darius and Liviana, pre-Nevernight, every time Scaeva and Alinne pretend in public that they cannot stand each other:
Scaeva: *appears on page*
Every character who’s also on page, with no exception:
“But how is it possible for no one to have understood Scaeva was trying to claim absolute power?” Itreyans lived in a city called Godsgrave, daily saw a place made of bones called ‘The Ribs’ and never connected the two fucking dots. I think it’s not too far-fetched.
listen i KNOW Kristoff didn’t think this through because he doesn’t even know Latin properly, let alone Roman law, but one of the most interesting things I’ve noticed is that Mia said that being darkin could get you crucified. Now, since Itreya, especially politically speaking, is inspired by the Roman Republic, it’s worth noticing that Roman citizens could NOT get crucified, because It was considered a HUGE humiliation and far too atrocious for a Roman citizen to endure. Only non-Romans and slaves could get crucified. This brings... an interesting perspective, to say the least, to how darkin were considered, right?
I like the idea of each passenger being protective and somehow jealous of everyone else their darkin interacts with/cares about. I mean apart from Eclipse (who had just lost Cassius and was greiving) neither Mister Kindly nor Whisper seem to care at all for people who aren’t Mia or Scaeva, even if the other person in question is darkin.
So. Piera Forde officially announced that we WILL get more Nevernight on-screen and that it won’t be a web-series. Currently freaking out rn.
If I thought about a Nevernight event of some sort to live up the fandom a bit (since it’s dead), would anyone be interested in it?👀
The comedic potential in 8-year-old Mia having a nightmare, waking up and running into her parents bedroom just to discover that 1) her mother is not there (I wonder where she is *wink wink*) 2) Antonius is apparently sharing the bed with her father
I also have the impression that if coffee were a thing in Nevernight Scaeva would consume a worryingly high quantity of it. He just gives me that vibe
The comedic implications of none of the noblemen knowing Scaeva and Alinne were a thing vs the comedic implications of every single one of them knowing and pretending not to
