Why did we stop with ballroom dances??? Like seriously to waltz around a room with a handsome stranger to classical music while others look at us with envy and after the music ends both of you with flushed cheeks, breathing fast, the sexual tension ; that was the shit.
Archbishop James Ussher claimed that the Heaven and the Earth were created on Sunday, the 21st of October, 4004 BC, at 9:00 a.m. This too was incorrect, by almost a quarter of an hour. It was created at 9:13 in the morning. Which was correct. The whole business with the fossilised dinosaur skeletons was a joke the palaeontologists haven’t seen yet.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EARTH!!!

"I'll walk with you" is just an excuse to spend more time with someone before they go and that's romantic as fuck
Sometimes people use “respect” to mean “treating someone like a person” and sometimes they use “respect” to mean “treating someone like an authority”
and sometimes people who are used to being treated like an authority say “if you won’t respect me I won’t respect you” and they mean “if you won’t treat me like an authority I won’t treat you like a person”
and they think they’re being fair but they aren’t, and it’s not okay.
looking up ambience to listen to while writing a law school essay like “ah yes ‘Ghost Town ASMR’, mind’s already there, might as well let my parents know too”

So I found this cool website for learning ancient languages
go wild
holy fuck
I just did a quick perusal of the Coptic resources on this site, and it has all the resources I’ve personally found worthwhile and then some. These are resources that took me months, if not years, to discover and compile. I am thoroughly impressed. The other languages featured on the site are:
Akkadian
Arabic
Aramaic
Church Slavonic
Egyptian (hieroglyphics and Demotic)
Elamite
Ethiopic (Ge’ez)
Etruscan
Gaulish
Georgian
Gothic
Greek
Hebrew
Hittite
Latin
Mayan (various related languages/dialects)
Old Chinese
Old English
Old French
Old Frisian
Old High German
Old Irish
Old Norse
Old Persian
Old Turkic
Sanskrit
Sumerian
Syriac
Ugaritic
For the love of all the gods, if you ever wanted to learn any of these languages, use this site.
Might be useful for some of you.

I never understood the point of corporal punishment. Why is it socially acceptable to use physical force on one's own children but it's domestic violence/assault when it's toward a significant other or stranger, that's punishable by jailtime? This form of punishment was only used on those considered to be the lowest of society - slaves and prisoners. Why do we, as a society allow the most innocent and weakest group - children - to be physically punished? Is it because parents feel entitled as the children are theirs? If we go by that logic their husband/wife is also "theirs". They belong to eachother and they share the same space, no longer relying on their own families for support. Imo it's a sense of entitlement as children are "created" by their parents. Human beings consider anything they create as theirs therefore they believe they can do whatever they want. Corporal punishment is nothing more than a parent acting out from a sudden emotion that could easily be resolved with a few words instead. Furthermore the line between what's considered to be corporal punishment and abuse is very fine.

I feel like this quote sums up the summer mood: “I said to myself ‘I must hurry, hurry, and this very minute become a different person and start to live differently.’ Despite that, however, I continued to sit in the window a long time, daydreaming and doing nothing” Tolstoy, Youth
Am I so difficult to understand and so easy to misunderstand in all my intentions, plans, and friendships? Ah, we lonely ones and free spirits—it is borne home to us that in some way or other we constantly appear different from what we think. Whereas we wish for nothing more than truth and straightforwardness, we are surrounded by a net of misunderstanding, and despite our most ardent wishes we cannot help our actions being smothered in a cloud of false opinion, attempted compromises, semi-concessions, charitable silence, and erroneous interpretations. Such things gather a weight of melancholy on our brow; for we hate more than death the thought that pretence should be necessary, and such incessant chafing against these things makes us volcanic and menacing. From time to time we avenge ourselves for all our enforced concealment and compulsory self-restraint. We emerge from our cells with terrible faces, our words and deeds are then explosions, and it is not beyond the verge of possibility that we perish through ourselves. Thus dangerously do I live! It is precisely we solitary ones that require love and companions in whose presence we may be open and simple, and the eternal struggle of silence and dissimulation can cease.
— Friedrich Nietzsche, Selected Letters
