EVOLUTION OF MEDIA

The evolution of media, from old media to new media, has transformed the way we understand the world around us. New media is interactive and is user-generated while old media is a more traditional way of communicating through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, etc. New media gives us a new perspective by allowing us to interact with one another through the Internet. Media has become much more personal and diverse as user-generated content becomes more prominent in our lives. We are exposed to various viewpoints that shape our understanding and knowledge of the social world, but does the form of media actually affect the way we understand the content which is presented to us? For my paper, I will determine whether or not the medium is the message by analyzing two different types of media sources and how they affect our understanding of the content. For my old media source, I have chosen a news clip from the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric that deals with the ongoing Egyptian uprising. For my new media source, I have chosen a video blog, or ‘vlog’, by an Egyptian man named Omar who discusses the crisis in Egypt from a personal point of view. Both media sources deal with the same topic but result in different understandings of the crisis. Although both mediums focus on the same issue there are a lot of differences between the two.

Bullying

Did you know what is bullying? Bullying is the use of force, threat or coercion to abuse,intimidate, or aggressively dominateothers. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. Have you ever been bulleid? Has it happend to your friend? 

Some people think that bullyiong is just a stage, a normal part of life. However, fact is the bullying is not “normal” or socially acceptable behavior. We give bullies power by our acceptance of this behavior. Just look around you, a lot of bullying activities that have taken place, at school, at home, and sometimes also can occur anywhere.

Bullying can effect everyone who involved. Those who are bullied, might feel anxious, depressed lonely, or insecure or feel like crying a lot. Feel angry ang wonder why this happend to you. Feel afraid to go to anywhere. We must be aware to this problem, just be strong, keep your head up high and do your best to stop bullying! Remember bullying is everyone’s business! Respect,Reflect ,STOP Bullying !!

Bullying  is when someone is being hurt emotionally or physically, on purpose. Bullying makes someone feel so small . Being judged and criticized in front of lots of people , it makes you feel so small and useless. Respect one another because each one of us created by God equally . Respect for we are just human beings with the heart to feel happiness and sadness. Being victim of bullying is a nightmare . Honestly, personally I experienced being bullied because of my skin color and my appearance. It hurts my feelings . I am just a human who can feel downfall. The words that I heard and read is like a knife which gives my heart pain. It's always in my mind and I am in point questioning myself “Do I deserve all of this? ” , “ Why ? ” . It is very tiring to question yourself with the things you can't understand.

Reflect , try to reflect your self to those people whom you bullied. Try to imagined yourself being in their situation. What would you feel? After putting yourself on it , question yourself is it nice to be in their place ? As of now , we can witness from our environment the outcome of bullying . From bullying which leads to stress, depression and to death. Hanging their selves , killing their selves and taking their own lives. Bullying may take emotionally from hurtful words and may take physically from bullies who liked to hurt physically. This is not a good practice for individuals it may lead to low self esteem , communication skill disorder and being introverted. Take this things seriously , it is not all about fun but it's about life and reality.

There are lots of feedback from victims about the impact of bullying in their lives. The government created a Republic Act 10627, the anti-bullying law passed in 2013, is “an act requiring all elementary and secondary schools to adopt policies to prevent and address the acts of bullying in their institutions.”  RA 10627 prohibits not only “unwanted physical contact” between the bully and the victim but also cyber bulling and any act “that causes damage to a victim’s psyche and/or emotional well-being.”This act really helps individuals to have their rights to complain and claim their rights from this experiences. You should stop bullying for it is prohibited by the law of people and in law of God. Let's start living in a world with peace . A world with no judgement and full of love.

ABORTION: A dead Baby and a Dead Conscience

Doing a thing that you love has always an equal responsibility. You did it so why chose to avoid it? Are you just making it out of fun? Do you think that it is a good thing? Everytime we think of doing some things,m we must think first. Is it okay? Can I handle the responsibility if ever the things that I do will have a fruit? Think before you do it. Is it the kindest thing to do? I must say, abortion is never a choice.

When you do abortion, it is not only the baby who is dead but also your conscience. Don’t you feel guilty and pity against YOUR child? What kind of mother are you? It is from your own flesh and blood. Some must say that fetuses don’t have a life but can imagine, we adults and even infantdms have a heartbeat same as the fetuses, so how can you say that they don’t have lives inside your womb? Our heartbeat is the basis of our life. I it does not work already then it only means one thing, we are dead and same also as the fetuses. How can you sleep tight at night when you killed your baby? Isn’t your conscience hunting you? Or Can you even sleep at night? Abortion must not be a choice. Babies is innocent from you thing. You did it, you must face your responsibilities. In the first place, why kill the babies? They don’t even know what you are doing. It is not their fault if your such an irresponsible person. If you want to save your dignity and image to others, you should protect it and you must not do anything to harm it. It is not the baby who destroy it but YOU.

Moreover, to save your conscience and dignity, behave. Educate yourself about the consequences of what would you always do. Remember, it is not the baby’s choice to live in this world, it is yours.

ROTC – Is It Right for You or Not?

The ROTC stands for Reserve Officers' Training Corps. It is a group of college and university-based officer training programs for training commissioned officers that provides a unique opportunity for students that are interested in serving their country as well as completing a four-year college degree. Cadets are not only eligible for generous scholarship opportunities but are guaranteed a job in the military after their graduation.

For students that attend college through ROTC programs will learn leadership and team-building skills that is necessary to conduct missions and take command as officers in their respective military branches in the future. They’ll also have to pass regular physical fitness exams and train with peers in “PT” sessions. After commissioning it is when they decide on a career field and begin training for specific jobs. Greatly to know that ROTC has been giving a lot great support to each student especially to those who are needy of joining ROTC, which is us the students.

Are you not sure if the ROTC is right for you or not? Well students can enroll in the ROTC Basic Course for their first two years of college to discern whether or not ROTC is the right path for them. However, the ROTC Basic Course does not come with a scholarship. If at the end of those two years, students decide that they want to continue with ROTC and serve in a military branch after graduation, a scholarship may be available.

 Water Scarcity arises in situations where there is insufficient water to simultaneously support both human and ecosystem water needs.It affects the environmental impacts on human health and well-being.How could this happen to us?

Many of the water systems that keep ecosystems thriving and feed a growing human population have become stressed. Rivers, lakes and aquifers are drying up or becoming too polluted to use. More than half the world’s wetlands have disappeared. Agriculture consumes more water than any other source and wastes much of that through inefficiencies. Climate change is altering patterns of weather and water around the world, causing shortages and droughts in some areas and floods in others.  

To lessen the water scarcity we must educate to change consumption and lifestyles,Recycle waste water,develop energy efficient desalination plants  holistically manage ecosystem. And more ways to solve. Inorder to save lives we must also save our Mother Earth.

A lot of us already have heard about the "No-Homework Policy" as it drew attention of the students and teachers. It suggests that bringing and making homeworks at home is prohibited by the law as soon as it is approved. Well it is our nature to possess different opinions and arguments of whether we agree to what has been proposed. The "No-Homework Policy" just arised in the early moments of the start of the school year. This was considered as one of the controversial issues in the field of education.

Being a Senior High student is really a crucial stage of being a student. You'll be exposed to different tasks and activities regarding your chosen strand. It prepares you before entering to your college years. Being in this level would require you to manage your time and you should also be able to prioritize things based on how much is their importance. As for me, i strongly disagree to the proposal of this policy. Students don't have the ability to finish all their assigned task in school in a given short period of time. Giving assignments is a practice to better prepare themselves on the next day. It is just a matter of prioritizing and time management. Having a time with your family and doing homeworks is possible with the existence of the said values present in each student.

At the end of the day, success in every student matter with the positive values existing in them. It doesn't even matter if this bill is approved or not. As long as every student perseveres to acquire learning and knowledge then they will surely succeed. Their ability to learn new skills is also a factor and that is all that matters at the end of the day.

"Every addiction starts with pain and ends with pain"

We all know that online games is our happiness, during bored day. We play and spend so much time, because of online games people are addicted. It's great to do things that we enjoy right?. But gaming addiction is not right, it can ruin your lifestyle because of this especially teenagers. There are lots of disease that we can get. It can be hard to see and stop this problem but we can prevent it in our own way.

There are lots of sign to know if that person is addicted. Thinking about gaming all or a lot of time, they feel bad when they can't play etc. Did you know that some experts say that it's harmful to label people who might just be very enthusiastic about gaming. To prevent this problem, you need to ask someone first, if gaming helps you to improve you life?. Does your gaming get in the way of other important things in your life, like job, school, and relationships?. We all know that gaming is not a solution to solve individual problem or your just thinking that gaming is your happiness.

We need to help individual to less childrens addicted in gaming. Talk to them control their lifestyle, make limitations to hold cellphones, computer etc. Comfort individual every time if they feel stress because of their grades or other matter. Feel their life important, go shopping, because of this they can feel better and they can't even remember to spend so much time in gaming. I hope that all parents should do this to there children especially those teenagers are addicted already.

Discrimination

Discrimination is the act of distinguishing or the act of treating unequally, in other words, it is the making of distinction towards a person based on the group, class, or category to which the person is perceived to belong.This only occurs when a person is referred as different from the other people that is interacting in his environment.

This only occurs when a person has this difference to the other person. The people have the reasons that make them motivate by themselves to descriminate others because of the physical appearance, religion,gender,ethnicity,status and etc. Those people don't know the word "respect" in others, they don't know the story of every person that they have discriminated, they dont know the word "treat equally". They easily see the difference of a person but they dont see their difference to the other person. One of the common reason of why people are discriminated is because they are weak, they dont know how to defend themselves, they dont know how to fight back for their rights. The more a person that make the other person feel that they are weak, the more people will aggressively discriminate you.

Because of this issue, they have taken up at the first session of the General Assembly in 1946 to conduct meeting to lessen the discrimination and inequality that is happening in the society, it is the Commision of Human Rights.The Commission on Human Rights was made up of 18 members from various political, cultural and religious backgrounds.The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a historic document which outlined the rights and freedoms everyone is entitled to. It was the first international agreement on the basic principles of human rights. Aside from relying in this right, is you should have ways to avoid discrimination, first is you should make them feel that you are not weak and you should fight back and if someone dare to judge you, then the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the key

Waste Management

Humans have already abused Nature so much even just throwing a garbage in a garbage can they can't at least do that, I want to adress this issue because our mother nature already suffered too much damage because of us.

We can do so much more other than abusing mother nature, throwing garbage in a proper disposal is a big thing for our nature , nit just for our nature but also for us, because like what Prince EA said " We are not apart from nature, We are part if nature" if we destroy our nature then we are also destroyed if we save our nature then we are also saved.

Help us rebuild our Mother earth let us unite to save us, and lets join force to give chance our future generation to see how beautiful our world is. Throw your garbage properly small thing to do but big thing can offer.

One of the major problems the majority are facing today is water scarcity. Perhaps, an imbalance between demand and supply could be a factor of what is going on nowadays. Unfortunately, the lack of water resources to meet water demand is globally felt and makes a lot of people suffer.

Water is life. No man can survive on this planet without water and it is an undeniable fact. Water scarcity may be an outcome of a large and growing population which results in greater demand for water and unequal access to it. Sadly, the availability of freshwater on this planet is only three-percent, which makes it natural for some to be skeptical about being able to cater all the demands.

On the contrary, we may find a better solution to stop the predicament we are facing today. Starting in our respective households. We should be much more aware and conserve water at all times. For we are part of nature, and neglecting our responsibilities will make our lives unconventional.

ABORTION: is a guilt of human labor.

Abortion is a highly controversial issue that is affecting our society. People feel that abortion is evil because it is killing an unborn child. On the other hand, people believe it is a woman's constitutional right to choose, but if one were to end an innocent child's life is not only unethical and inhumane, but it is also morally wrong.

That abortion is the killing of a human being, which defies the word of God, spoken from the Bible. In where the Bible states that “Thou shalt not kill,” in Exodus 20:13. In all countries around the world and among peoples, a natural instinct or an unwritten tradition placed murder among the worst crimes, and made its penalty death. According to the Bible, there is no fine line or conclusion drawn between a fetus or a baby. Women are murdering their developed children and lying to themselves while doing it so that they feel better about it. The truth is, there is no way around it. They cannot make the fact that they are inhumanely killing an innocent child just go away. Each abortion deprives an innocent baby of a full life. Think about this, each person who supported slavery was never a slave… and every person who is for abortion wasn't murdered and got to live.

Our world today is full of unsolved, decisive and controversial issues. Most of them relate to our morals, ethics, and religion, thus creating a very strong yes’ or no’, or good’ and bad’ side. Therefore to any person who is for abortion or is contemplating having one of her own, think about this, everyone who is alive got the chance to live and experience wonderful things.

Which coutry has the better legal claim to Scarborough Shoal?

Who owns the Scarborough Shoal? Is it the Philippines or China? The island was once called as the South China Sea and later on was changed to Scarborough Shoal. The island is part of one of the many island in the Philippines.

The island was claimed by the People’s Republic of China. According to the Chinese, they own the territory but the old map shows that the said territory belongs to the Philippines. China sent warships to roam arround and invade Scarborough Shoal and it frightened the fisher men and the residence of the island. This issue bring strain to the relationship between Philippines and China. 

It is therefore concluded that to solve this dispute is to bring  this case to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS). There should be a new agreement to both nations and to settle this issue to regain again the relationship of the Philippines and China.

Gamers be warned!

Over the past few years online games has been usual to us teenagers. Many are already addicted to it already, and to be honest I myself is addicted too. Though it has been already part of our daily habit, many still lack the knowledge about the effects gaming addiction does. So as one of this individuals, I decided to study about it and figure out the common reasons why we’ve been addicted.

Now I learned that the main reason why individuals get attached to this stuff is because they’re playing with another individual. “Gamers tend to compete” with one another, showing off which one is more better at the field of playing. Also with another player, they can feel the tension rising in the air because they are against an opponent which is capable of thinking. Another good reason is because “they can’t pause the game”. All online games probably, if a player interacts with another player the game cannot be stop anymore. This is the most probable reason why you can’t disturb gamers. Last on my list is because of “proving something”, many individuals play a game out of loneliness in which case make them weary to continue to play when socialization in person occurs. Others tend to stick to the game because of a goal, for an example an achievement in the game, trying to beat someone and proving they’re good. Many reasons are still out their but I guess this is the most precise.

I am also a gamer, I was addicted to it before, but I changed at the time a realize that it was slowly effecting my life. Though gaming can make us avoid life problems it doesn’t mean it can fix it. So as for now, I encourage you not to play.
