My One And Only
After her dance with King, Queen floated around the reception floor, speaking with others from their classes. Laughter was shared but they tiptoed around the elephant around the room. They would refuse address the issue directly until Jack attempted to make a playful jest. The cheery blond had wrapped an arm around Queen’s shoulders, grinning from ear-to-ear.
"So when can we expect little Nines or Queenies running around? Soon, I hope." He winked at Queen, causing her to outright stare at him with disbelief. She couldn’t believe him. She struggled to find the words to argue but after thinking about little boys that took after Nine or girls that took over her, she shut her mouth. Jack took her shock as a cue to continue, calling over to Nine and interrupting his conversation with Seven. "Hey Nine! I wanna be godfather to your little princesses!"
That snapped Queen out of her silence and back to the matter at hand. She lightly smacked Jack on the arm, mock-glaring at him. “I believe you’re supposed ask both halves of the couple whether or not you can be bestowed that honor.”
Jack shrugged, placing a gentle hand on the bride’s shoulder. “Well, it’s better that I ask Nine now before….well, you know. And ‘sides, you can’t keep running from the fact that he’s going to have completed his Focus and crystallize. You two have to decide on what you’re gonna do ‘bout the time that’s given to you. And why not make an adorable baby?”
As the song ended and they finished their dance, Nine noticed Seven's hand lingering over his arm, over the spot where his l'Cie brand materialised whenever he activated his l'Cie powers. She looked into his fiery red eyes and bit her lip, before finally nodding.
"I promise," she murmured before Jack called something out, grabbing the attention of the both of them.
Separating from the bridesmaid, Nine squeezed her hand and mouthed a quick "thank you" before making his way over to Queen's side, wrapping his arm around her waist.
"Not even married fo' a day and already y'back to makin' moves on my wife?" he chuckled, pulling Queen a little closer to him. That feeling of being able to call her his wife now made something flutter inside of him, and he honestly couldn't be happier. "And oi, who said anythin' 'bout havin' kids? 'Sides, what if King might'a already called dibs on that honour, hey!"
Of course Nine was kidding, but now that Jack had brought up the subject, it did send questions through his mind. He honestly hadn't thought about what he would do with the time he had left with Queen, but a kid definitely wasn't on the list. Queen had been firm about her view, but now with the war having ended and his time limited, maybe her mind had changed.
