Well I did a poster for Hera so it only seemed fitting that Kanan get one as well. May end up doing one for all the Spectres...
Really happy with this one.

"Mob Psycho is a show about a boy with god-level psychic powers" WRONG. Mob Psycho is a show about a boy fostering a healthy and growing support network while he figures out who he wants to be. The fact that he has god-level psychic powers is incidental.
It just really gets to me that 10 year old Mob walked into Reigenās office looking for anyone who could give him advice about his powers that are scaring him. And Reigen looked at him and went āThis baby child is absolutely delusional, but he looks like he needs someone to say something important to him right now.ā And Reigen spun up some bullshit on the spot that became the guiding compass of Mobās life.
And itās very important to clarify that Reigen did not -accidentally- give Mob good advice. Because one of Reigenās most distinct traits is his ability to come up with genuine advice and tell people what they need to be told. But heāll do this on the spot. Heāll do it wrapped in bullshit. Heāll camp it alongside some conman string. Heāll go along with anything. Heāll pretend anything is true. The grift is, in fact, integral of it.
And I love this dichotomy in him because heās so precariously set up at all moments to topple. For anyone to call him on his bullshit and use that to dismantle everything heās said. He was lying. He was scamming you. He was using you.
And yes, he was. But it wasnāt really for service of the con. It was for service of the customer, who needed to hear something important.
A terrified 10 year old walked in because his powers had just hurt his little brother and he was feeling so alone in the world and so dangerous and so scared. And Reigen saved him the way Reigen does best.
emotional regulation with mob!

"The conman who's lying to and underpaying his 14-year-old employee is the moral compass of the whole series" makes it sound like Mob Psycho 100 is so universally filled with amoral characters that a conman ranks as the most ethical.
This is not true. Mob Psycho 100 is full of many moral characters. It's just that the conman who's lying to his 14-year-old employee is such a unique and brand-new type of fictional guy that he achieves being a liar and a conman and a moral compass all at the same time with absolute consistency and zero contradiction.
"This 14-year-old is the most powerful person in the WORLD but really... he just wants to be a normal middle schooler...!" is absolutely not new to anime but USUALLY it's all a power-fantasy. It's humble-bragging. It's an awkward marriage of relatability and bus-window-day-dreaming. "Oh MAN, I just SAVED the WORLD š±ššš„but I still have a MATH TEST tomorrow šāļøAND I have a CRUSH š (who doesn't know I'm the coolest badass in the world because that's a secret!! š)"
Which is all to say once again that no one is doing it like Mob Psycho 100. Because Mob is unambiguously the most powerful entity in the world and he goes "Okay but that's not very interesting. Being powerful isn't a personality. I'm gonna try to improve myself in ways that matter."
The evil spirit on his shoulder spends all series going "PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!" and Mob says, "No thank you. Do you want to help me with my math homework?" and the second most powerful person in the world comes up to say, "We are a supreme species of super-human better than everyone else!" and Mob says, "You sound stunted as a person. Maybe try working a customer service job?" and a classmate will go, "Why not use your powers to be popular?" and Mob says, "Psychic powers don't make you popular. Do you want to see me lift this 10kg dumbbell? I've been working on that."
