People know how to chill beer and soju without a fridge.
This is my third time to read 雪国 (or snow country in English), authored by Yasunari Kawabata. The novel portrays complicated relationships between men and women, while the snow gives a contrast concept --- simple and clear. Last week the city was covered with a few inches of snow. When I spotted the snowflakes through the window, I didn't hesitate to pick up this book although the reading list hasn't been completed yet. I could only think timing was critical to indulge in reading it. This book is also special because my grandfather recommended. He was mesmerized with phrases that aesthetically pictured the snow country (FYI, he was fluent to read, write and speak Japanese and Korean). Too bad I can no longer ask him for more recommendations. I don't think I will read this again next time, but the original Japanese one will be exceptional.

Cooking is a form of meditation
Reading paperbook is one of best digital detox practices. I can focus on the pleasure of reading and ignite the imagination. I also feel free from the online interactions although I almost live in the world of Facebook and Instagram. This week is all about the theme "back to basics" --- reading the masterpieces. I found several old books, which I read more than a decade ago. The animal farm is one of them. I love to find ways authors depict the world and history. I am planning to get rid of books in order to reorganize my room, but I should prioritize the pleasure of detox practice with paperbooks.

Somehow I was fortunate to receive journals from Starbucks, in partnership with Moleskine, before wrapping up the year of 2015. No matter how technologies make our lives easier, I still love ways to boost the non-digital experience. Thanks H!

I tend to avoid raw seafood in the summer for reasons of sanitation, but this bowl of rice topped with salmon and grilled eel was fantasic!

It was a rough day. The interview, offered by one of companies I like, didn't go well as I hoped. When the interviewer criticized several points I pinpointed, I felt hopeless to expect the next-round interview. However it was a learning opportunity to train my problem solving skills. I was able to practice how to organize my random ideas and logically demonstrate them. I also harnessed an ability to suggest solutions that are feasible and scalable. At the same time, I tried to understand the interviewer in order to comprehend her/his expectations. I don't think I am ready to receive the rejection letter soon, but I am ready to embrace mistakes and transform them as new strengths. Time will surely come when the employer pursuades me why I should join the team. Huzzah!
Okay, no more procrastinations.
