He walked closer towards her, kneeling in front of her while caressing her cheeks. He stared at her eyes deeply and smiled as if the whole galaxy was in it.
“What if I can’t keep one of my promises?”
“You can’t. You promised.”
Her eyes shook as she figured out what he was up to. She found it hard to breath, knowing how stubborn he could get.
“Gyu-“
“Bri, everything is going to be okay.”
She had always trusted everything that he said and promised, all along. But not this one. Her guts tells her that he lied. Deep down, she knew nothing is going to be okay.
“I’m sorry.”
Just as soon as those words came out of his mouth, Mingyu leaned closer towards her and their lips were linked to each other. Briella felt like her world stopped as she feelt his soft lips was on hers out of the blue.
“That wasn’t a goodbye, right?”
Briella tighten her grip on Mingyu’s shirt. He smiled while slipping a few strands of her hair that covers her face.
“It will never be.”
Mingyu took off his necklace and bracelet and put it on Briella. Again, his eyes were on her, while she couldn’t even stare back at him.
“Look at me,”
Briella slowly stared back into Mingyu’s eyes. The more she stared at them, the harder it gets for her to let him go. She tried to look away again but Mingyu’s hand was faster to cup her face, making her eyes locked with his.
“I’ll be back, I promise. You have my words.”
Mingyu’s hand reached out to his necklace that was already on Briella’s neck. He kissed her forehead before he finally walked away from her.
His steps were heavy, so were their hearts. Mingyu didn’t know what was in front of him, so did her. Neither of them wanted this, knowing it could end as a goodbye. Neither of them knew that it only took him a few steps away from her before a sound of gun shot was heard.
It started to rain as if the sky didn’t want her to see how bad he was hurting. Pain was everything that he felt, every kind of pain that existed in the world. The pain of being scared to hear her crying, the pain of being scared to leave her. The pain of being weak, knowing that his protection was all that she needed, while he didn’t even have the energy to keep his eyes open.
The sky was the last thing that he stared at, though he wished that it was Briella’s eyes instead. And the sky, was also the last thing that he wished on, before his eyes were finally closed.
“Keep her safe.”
